The requirements thread

Recommended Posts

"Moya" is ready for WOFF. I think.

Windows 7 64bit

i5-2500k @ 4.5Ghz

GTX 770 2GB

8GB Corsair Ram

750W PSU

Asus P8P67 MoBo

1xTB WD Black

In addition, I have a 240GB Intel SSD and a 3TB Seagate Barracuda on the way. Figuring I'll store the entire contents of my life for the next decade or so on the 4TB drives and use the SSD for my operating system and important games (WOFF and Steam titles). I'm a whee bit worried that my CPU is getting on in years, but thus far she's done well and the i5-2500k is known for having a long lifespan.

Also have a X52 HOTAS and TrackIR5, but I believe my TR5 is dodgy and I may need to get a new one. May have to resort to hat switching, at least at first. It's not optimal, but I survived 99% of OFF via hat switching.

How's everyone else doing? If you need upgrades, now's the time to discuss options!

Well I'm Medium to Low End (people who have known me for many years will not be surprised at this statement).

AMD Athlone Dual Core 3.1GHZ 6000+ processor - not sure if this would match an Intel processor of the same specs.

RAM 4GB - Not sure what type

NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT video card

At least our VISTA is 64 bit.

I'll have to do a bit of digging to see what improvements we could support and would be worth making.

(I know ... get a new PC)

.

Javito, your described system should have no trouble pushing WOFF to the max.  Wayfarer, you are going to have a bit of a struggle I fear with that 9600GT, but fingers crossed.

I mentioned in a thread over at SimHQ earlier today that I am hopeful my current rig will be able to take full advantage of all WOFF has to offer:

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core

CPU Fan: Arctic Super Cooler

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16gb (4 x 4gb) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Mobo: ASUS Sabertooth P67

Hard Drives: 2 Western Digital 640 GB Caviar Black SATA

Opti Drive: LG 22X DVD+/RW Dual Layer SATA Rewrite

Video Cards: 2 EVGA GTX 460 SC 1024mb cards in SLI configuration

PS: Corsair HX 850 Watt

Windows XP Pro 64-bit OS

LG 27" flat screen LCD monitor, 1920 x 1080 native resolution

Four large case fans, plus the PS, CPU, mobo, and card fans

Saitek AV8R joystick

Saitek Pro Flight rudder pedals

Track IR4 with IR5 software

We shall see.

Here's where I'm at. I need to get this RAM issue worked out and hopefully my Windows 7 (32-bit) is up to the task. I'm a bit concerned I'm on the low end here but we shall see.

- GIGABYTE Radeon 6850 HD video card
- Windows 7 (32-bit)

... 32" Monitor ...

Ha, same I idea as I had - why not use a full HD flatscreen TV for flying!

I can see everything much better, and the real-life feeling is amazing.

This intrigues me. What device do you use in particular? I googled "full hd flatscreen" and came up with quite a lot of options.

Mine is a TOSHIBA "REGZA" 37" flatscreen TV with full HD resolution.

I am sitting ca. 1 Meter away from it, and I see no single pixels, but a wonderful sight-filling scenario.

Since I use that, I can recognise E/A much, much earlier and better!

CPU: AMD Phenom II x 2 Black Edition 3.1Gz

4g RAM Buffalo Firestix

ATI HD 4830 512mb

Lokks that at the very least I'll need to upgrade the gpu. With my motherboard Asus M3A79-T deluxe I should be able to overclock the cpu to enough and I have a Arctic Cooler fitted so , again, should be OK there.

I think I may be able to increase my RAM to 8GB and get something like a GeForce 650.  At least that might put me at 'Medium' level, rather than 'Low End/Medium'.

Unfortunately, with a blatant lack of consideration for WOFF,  not only had my wife arranged for a new kitchen to be fitted right now (hence day off hovering over OFF/WOFF sites) which is going to have to start to be paid for, but last week saw us unexpectedly having to have  the boiler and parts of the central heating system replaced.  I hate houses.

If I am going to be able to buy WOFF itself shortly, and Matt's music album, I fear a bit of canny budgeting is called for.

In the meantime I just have to get the computer to like playing CFS3/OFF again - I currently suspect one of the Microsoft Security Updates

I might be out of luck.  My CPU is a i7-2670QM......only 2.2Ghz.

And my graphics card is a GTX 560M but I think it might be fast enough.  On one site, it looks slightly faster than a 640.

Does anybody know if I'll be able to run it?
