About DCS World
DCS World is a vehicle combat simulation game created by Eagle Dynamics. DCS World uses a powerful engine that delivers realistic and engaging gameplay. The battlefield includes a spectacular mission area - the location of the Georgian conflict in 2008. Fly the Su-25T in a massive, semi-dynamic campaign to achieve dominance in the skies over Georgia! DCS World serves as the basis for which all DCS aircraft operate within.

The huge variety of aircraft, land units and warships are included from countries such as the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and others. Units are controlled by sophisticated Artificial Intelligence (AI) and they have an amazing level of detail. This all allows for the creation of engaging, real-world combat missions in this flashpoint region. DCS is a true "sandbox" simulation that can and will cover multiple time periods covering many types of combat and civilian units.

About The Fighter Collection
The Fighter Collection, as well as developing software for the entertainment and serious game markets, also operates, rebuilds and maintains Europe's largest collection of airworthy WWII fighters and is based at Duxford Airfield, in the UK. And existing owners will be able to forgo it as well

:

Just to be even more clear: This is the same as the FC3 version you are all familiar with, the key/only difference is that we now can legally sell it sans-Lock On. This will also allow us to sell the product world wide on Steam and other digital distribution outlets.

When the final version of 1.2.7 is released, existing owners of FC3 will also no longer need a Lock On installation.

As does Ubi's store. However, I don't know what the localization restrictions on it were.

If this means I can go and move my whole DCS World install to Steam I might do that now. The patches come down so much faster there and there's never a "patch day slowdown" like we've become accustomed to with DCS.

DCS FC 3 is now showing up on Steam for 49.99.  No LOMAC required.

It was such a pain in the ass to have LOMAC installed. I have a few copies of it but keeping tack of them all the time was a pain.

Is there sense in getting FC3? I've got FC2... and thinking about new version as FC series have perfect difficulty for me - I don't have time to learn (and play more importantly) full hardcore DCS sims like A-10C or those new ones.

Anyone can compare FC2 vs. FC3?
Especially as changes aren't dramatic from what I saw in changelog, and the price is (as always) high.

The main difference is FC3 is part of DCS World and gets all the updates and benefits of that. So there are more AI planes in DCS World (UH-1s, P-51s, A-10Cs), you can fly MP with other people, and the upcoming DX11 renderer will improve performance and appearance.

Oh, and the A-10A and F-15C are getting AFMs, so they'll fly better.

There are also periodic sales. The last was in December, the price was like 50% off at that time IIRC. If you can't swing the full price, wait for that, although it's hard to say how long that wait will be.

I do think it's worth it, though, as FC2 has some serious deficiencies in AA missiles that are getting fixed in DCS World. No more patches for FC2.

Yeah I saw, the sale during christmas - sadly I already bought another game by that time, so I had no cash for FC3.

So I'll have to hunt for some sale :-)

AFM would be great addition. Thing that saddens me the most is that ED looks like a dev team that is now only interested in full-scale sims. I'd love more planes with similar level of complexity to FC series. But I guess that's just me... :-(

Publicly they've stated that FC3 sales are very good, better than most DCS titles, and that they acknowledge the interest and have the intent to do more to that level. They have not however announced any specific plans (or planes) in that area as of yet.

That's a good news! I'd love to get F-16, F-18, A-10C, or European jets with similar level of complication to FC2. Additionally some dynamic campaigns for single player with more things happening on the battlefiled would be great. 'Cause most of the time in FC2 I'm flying on "Fly now!" because campaigns are pretty boring...

Sorry for DP lads, but I thought it's worth mentioning - DCS/FC3 stuff is on spring sale!!! :-)

60% off for FC3! Can't afford 50 bucks for FC3 ATM ...so this sale to 19.99$ is perfect... someone from ED reading this thread? :D
