Udet Rescue Bouy and S7-S13 Class E-boat for SF2 WW2 Battle of Britain Installs

"Udet-Seenotbojen" or Udet Rescue Bouy and S7-S13 Class E-boat for SF2 WW2 Battle of Britain Installs

To install, copy the included Objects, Effects, Missions and Sound folders into your MOD folder and make the INI file edits described below. If you already have an E-boat in your ground objects, back it up. If you don't want a high poly E-boat model, maybe just install the Udet-bouy. Tested in a WW2 Install based on SFNA patched to June 2012 Level. You can also slip the E-boat into your Euro WWII as it is a ground object, same goes for the Udet-bouy but you will not be able to use the custom Target placement as this has been written for the Battle of Britain Terrain.

All users should be prepared for longer load times as the E-boat model weighs-in at around 5.6 MB despite my poly-crunching and pruning -- the original was MUCH bigger this! If you want a smaller model, try copying and renaming LOD2 to LOD1 -- you will be missing crew, dingies and torpedos but have a smaller, but still big, file.

Talking of the original, the base model that I've imported into SF2 is a fantastic 3DS Max model by Alvaro Alves of De Espona 3D Models and is released as a creation here under a Royalty Free License. The version here is very heavily edited and with mostly new textures.

The Udet-bouy is my own creation.

This started out as a small project to learn 3DS Max by making a low poly Udet-bouy but it kind of got out of control! So, a LOT of work for such a little object and it's big brother but worth it I think. If you're a 109 pilot with a damaged engine limping back to France, try a belly landing next to an Udet-bojen and then swim for it!

Hope you like it,

Steve T.

file had been reported as broken, but it unzipped fine for me. most likely, an end user issue

-----------------------------------

Thanks for this!!! Them E-boats will work fine in the Med too!!!

to really mess with Player's Heads, create "another version", like this:

create a new folder for the E-Boat, call it

E-Boat_C.

copy ALL the files into this folder, renaming the main ini to match.

Open the main ini, and change the full name to:

[GroundObjectData]
ObjectFullName=E-Boat ©
ObjectDataFile=E-boat_DATA.INI

you'll see why here....

open the data ini, and change like so:

[MissionData]
NationName=Nazi Germany
ServiceStartYear=1940
ServiceEndYear=1945
GroundObjectRole=CARGO_SHIP
Availability=COMMON
FormationSizeBase=4
FormationSizeVariation=2
Exported=FALSE

save and close.

now, they'll appear in conoys (squadrons?) in regular anti-shipping missions. and really shoot back!!

The Torpedoes were not working. I ended up having to edit the data file and weapon data for the torpedoes in order to fix it. Check for a PM from me.

      Battle of Britain 2 1960th
      *****************************************************
      This mod is made for SF2E.
      ----------------------------------------------------------
      I.
      Battle of Britain 2 1960th terrain is a rework of Battle of Britain 2 Operation Sealion terrain, with focus on the 1960th. So you can fly and fight in a potentional Battle of Britain, which is fought in the 1960th.
      As basic the terrain is set as a Western European Union versus UK conflict. You can fly either for the french, west german, dutch, danish and belgium forces or for the RAF or the Royal Navy. The conflict starts with the occupation of the British Channel Islands by France and the british response.Thatswhy the airfileds on that islands are set for the red side and not for the RAF. You also find beachheads of a WEU invasion force, so that you can fly CAS missions on south Englands coast.
      If you like a more classic Soviets vs Britain setting, then you should look into the Goodies folder. In the subfolder Soviets vs UK you find the neccessary files to modify this terrain. Simply copy the two files (....nations and .....targets) into the Battle of Britain 2 1960th mainfolder and let overwrite the existing files. Then you can fight down the Soviets or, if you want, you can fly for the Soviets.
      If you want to switch back you can do it easily with copy the files from Europe vs UK folder.
      Compared with BoB2 OpSealion the new terrain has 19 additional targetareas. Some parts of the map are new tiled, some areas with photorealistic tiles, made by satpictures. The airfields are completly reworked, there are no two airfields which are looking as each other. The positioning of trees on the map (tod objects) is reworked on the most tiles.
      A known issue are the blue squares around the islands of Guernsey, Herm and Alderney, which not really match the color of the surrounding sea. I hope to solve this in a later update.

      The terrain comes with a campaign. It is a Western European Union vs UK campaign.

      If you want to fly for the Western European Union you need flyable versions of following planes
      F-104G Starfighter
      F-84F Thunderstreak
      Mirage3C
      Super MystereB2
      F-100D
      All this planes are stock planes, for flyable versions you need only a cockpit. It can be found easily in the download area of CombatAce.

      Dear Friends,
      Today we'd like to tell you about the new Great War aircraft that are in development.
      While transferring them from our classic project Rise of Flight to IL-2 Great Battles, we are fixing problems we found during this work - sometimes there are some asymmetric aerodynamic elements, a wrong object hierarchy, engine overheating/overcooling, and other similar problems.

      For example, while working on the Airco DH.2 recently, we found problems - it had an invisible "ghost" stabilizer in the physical model, inconsistencies in drag values, and it was also missing its top speed - judging by the reference data, it was missing it by about 15 kph. Well, mistakes happen, and they will be corrected: the DH.2 in FC will have recalculated drag values, corrected handling, and an increased top speed. Soon the beta testers will try it out, and some additional changes may be in order after these tests.
      Its AI will also be updated as it needs to be taught how to use its blip switch for taxiing (such early flying machines had no throttle and the engine always ran at full power - its pilot had to press and hold a blip switch button that cut the ignition when he wanted to slow down).

      Another upcoming aircraft, the Sopwith Pup, also had some problems with its flight characteristics and engine, which are currently being corrected.

      While working on Flying Circus aircraft, we are not only adding new features thanks to the IL-2 Great Battles engine but also fixing old problems whenever we get the chance. The new Flying Circus aircraft pack is scheduled for release this summer.
