regula50 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Hi I am a little confused about the right amount of ammo for the NR-30 cannon with the MiG-21F-13. Some good sources mentioned 60 rounds(Tom Cooper David Nicolle "Arab MiGs" , EAF MiG-21 pilot Reda el-iraqi), also this 60 rounds were mentioned by some Czech sources or by the info description of the MiG-21F-13 by the Aeronautical Museum Belgrad . Other sources speak about 30 rounds, like Wikipedia, Walk Around(Hans-Heiri Stapfer)or Shlomo Aloni. I dont have finded any mention of the amount by the VPAF MiG-21F-13s pilots reports. Thanks
Stratos Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Sorry, first versions of the F carried 2 guns with 30 rounds each. Then one gun was removed but the 60 rounds were kept.
Wrench Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 yefrim gordon' book on the Mig-21 states 30 (a GREAT book, and should be required reading for anyone)
MigBuster Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 hmm - think we stopped at 60 round capacity in the last thread - but only usually 30 rounds loaded.
regula50 Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 yefrim gordon' book on the Mig-21 states 30 (a GREAT book, and should be required reading for anyone) Yes, very good book.
Gepard Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) In the LSK (East German Air Force) the combat gun ammo load of the MiG-21F-13 was 60 rounds. Here a link to a site of a former east german MiG-21 pilot. http://www.mig-21-online.de/f13.htm , in german language At the bottom you find: Bewaffnung 1 Kanone NR-30 mit 60 Schuß Translation: Armament: 1 gun NR-30 with 60 rounds Edited September 26, 2014 by Gepard
