+RAVEN 414 Posted January 31, 2015 Geezer, Im a little confused. I thought that just the maps (Land scale) were 63% and the Terrian objects were full scale. I've never looked into it, I dont do maps, but I woul like to know the correct scale of things.
Wrench 9,809 Posted January 31, 2015 terrain objects are 1:1 which is why some things look off scale.
Wilches 1,169 Posted January 31, 2015 I always felt that the plane´s speed is a lot slower than it should be. Is that true? Is this related to the terrain small scale? Did Elvis ever die? So many questions...
+Geezer 3,569 Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) terrain objects are 1:1 which is why some things look off scale. Hat tip to Wrench for explaining this in an earlier post. GROUND objects, such as buildings, are scaled down to 63% of original size but terrain objects are not. I'm guessing the reduced size maps are more suitable for long range missions with intercontinental bombers? Edited January 31, 2015 by Geezer
+Stephen1918 1,474 Posted January 31, 2015 If you land a plane close to a city, you'll see that the buildings are quite a bit smaller than they should be. But that's OK because you usually just see them from the air. Objects you would find on an airfield are normal size because you do see them from the ground. Check out the trucks driving through a city. I think the terrain is scaled down to speed up the game. How boring would it be if you had to really spend 45 minutes flying to your target? Good point Stephen. The small batch of civilian vehicles are intended for placement with the industrial objects. Do you think they should also be scaled down to match the buildings? +Stephen1918 1,474 Posted January 31, 2015 Speaking for myself, it would be good to be able to use them as staff cars and supply vehicles on airfields. Being a little out of scale in a city won't be that noticeable when you're flying past it. So I would leave them true size. Others may have different opinions... Wilches - My brother has a friend whose cousin saw Elvis working at a Burger King in Battle Creek, Michigan. But that was years ago...

A good suggestion, but there is more to it. Most of the 1940 desert vehicles I am making were originally civilian vehicles adapted for military use. In effect, I am reverse engineering them back to civilian vehicles so the original military versions can be used around airfields. On reflection, maybe I should just keep it as simple as possible and make them all the same size?
Wrench 9,809 Posted January 31, 2015 I, personally, would leave them all the "Real World " size. like Stephan said, it's the TOD objects (the trees and buildings placed on the tiles via the terrain editor) that are off scale. Like him, I wouldn't worry about those
+Geezer 3,569 Posted January 31, 2015 Another good point. I'm a bit fuzzy from the flu - thanks for that pointing out.
krfrge 742 Posted January 31, 2015 Geezer, The buildings are really nice. For anyone who does target placement these will sweeten up target areas. Thanks and hope you get to feeling better soon.

Thanks, I am feeling better and got some work done on the Citroen TA. While the civilian vehicles are intended for use with the industrial objects, they can also be used elsewhere. Quick and dirty concept shots of TA and CR42 WIPs, combined with some WW1 pilots and a hangar from the 1930s airfield objects. Guys can have a good time customizing their installs in the near future.
