+Olham Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 (edited) What those young men accomplished was incredible - they often had to fly so many sorties, that some of them fell asleep right after bringing their fighters down to the airfield. While the Spitfire was the beautiful glamour girl, the Hawker Hurricane was the "Cinderella" in the Battle of Britain; she was the 'workhorse' that shot down the majority of German planes. Here is a nice video with a Hurricane performing loopings at an airshow. Hello, Widowmaker! Pls come back to the WOFF forum - I miss your "Woof, woof!" and ranting! +pcpilot Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 They gave the Nazis their first black eye, stopping them cold against all odds. These "boys" are among my pantheon of heroes. 2
+Olham Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 These "boys" are among my pantheon of heroes. ...and boys they really often were. But they had to grow up within weeks. And they did.
Dogzero1 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 (edited) I'm proud too. Very proud. Have a watch of this and get to the 5 min mark. If the hairs don't rise on your neck you are a either a zombie or a nazi. Edited September 21, 2015 by Dogzero1

Emp_Palpatine Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Battle of Britain is one of my favorite and most respected moment in history. I love and respect resisting bastards.(By the way, don't forget the French, Belgian, Dutch and British fighters of may-june 1940. They downed around 1000 luftwaffe bastards. 1000 planes that weren't there one month later for Battle of Britain...) 1

(By the way, don't forget the French, Belgian, Dutch and British fighters of may-june 1940. If you have ever seen the movie Battle of Britain which was made in 1969 featuring a host of British screen stars, it very much stirs me to support the underdog and during the aerial battle sequences I find myself thinking - 'go on lads even though you're outnumbered 4 to 1 get up there take them on and give them a damn good kicking'...... PS. There's no escorts - help yourself everybody.....
Emp_Palpatine Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Yeah, Battle of Britain is among my favorites.
