Any good flight sim with Coop multiplayer?

Recommended Posts

My friend and I went to an airshow this weekend and then watched Top Gun the same day and are now obsessed with being fighter pilots. Therefore we were wondering, is there a good and realistic combat flight sim that is not too complex to manage that offers the ability to fly coop missions? Strike fighters 2 would be the ultimate, bud much to my chagrin, that series does not have a multiplayer component. DCS comes to mind, but I cant remember if it has multiplayer or not, and if it did its a bit on the complex side, but we could manage. Anyway, I hope the vast knowledge here at Combat Ace will help us find the game we're looking for.

Thanks in advance

There's SF1 with a little tweeking it can ran on windows 8/10 if you have those. It works on LAN and i believe on hamachi as well.

You could also try IL-2 as there's a new mod with Jets in it. But there's no Tomcat

Just wondering. The level DCS is on is just an awesome one. Is it possible for one aircraft to paint targets for another aircraft. I.e an Apache designating targets for a bomber or F-15.

There was but no idea if anyone still does it.......................you might need a time machine to go back 10 years..............

Buddy lasing?

AFAIK only the A-10C module has this type of fidelity with the Litening pod it carries............but that's Falcon BMS level avionics and no idea if you can do it for other A-10Cs...........in single player you can pick up ground based lasers from troops after setting the laser codes etc....see the massive manual.

I think I may have a copy of one of the Series 1 games around here somewhere. Just assuming that I could get it to work on LAN between me and friend's pc's, does anyone remember what the multiplayer was like? What we idealy are looking for is coop missions where we fly in the same group or escort one another etc...Man, why can't SF2 have multiplayer ability?!?!?!

You could also do the coop targeting with the Ka-50 IIRC, but I never did it after the tutorial mission.
