Any interest in a modern fictional campaign for my Angola terrain?

Hey guys!  Ive been playing a lot with Dennisoliveras fantastic cheetahs and Kfirs, it got me thinking about making a modern day fictional campaign for my Angola terrain... 

The premise I was thinking of was a setting somewhere around 2010/2011 where old Cold War rivalries are heating up due to terrorism in Sub Saharan Africa, Venezuelan, Cuban and Libyan forces have strengthened and backed up Angolan forces in preparation for an invasion of Namibia.  South African intelligence sources have become rather alarmed over the recent build up of armor and aircraft in Angola and seek help from the United Nations and NATO hoping for a post Aparthied African Operation Desert Storm type of coalition.  South African pleas for help fall upon deaf ears, even though huge defensive cuts in the 90's have left south africca nearly defenseless.

 

Fortunately other small pariah nations that had banded together during the cold war have pledged their help....

 

Colombia and Ecuador send a combined Squadron of Kfir C10's, Israel sends a detachment of 6 F-15I's, a det of 8 F-15A/B AUP Baz's and a squadron of F-16C/D Baraks, Chile sends det of F-16C's and a squadron of Mirage M5M Elkans, Argentina sends a squadron of IAI Fingers as well...

 

South Africa herself scrambles to hasten the delivery of JAS-39C/D's and to pull out of storage and refurbish older Cheetah E's and Mirage F1AZ's while cancelling the drawdown of Cheetah C and D's.  

 

Will it be enough to save Namibia? 

 

Any Interest? ideas? Thoughts? I was thinking maybe include a french squadron of mirage 2000's or Rafales...

I'm interested, but have a few thoughts. Even in a what-if, I'm having trouble seeing Argentina providing jets, when their Mirage/Finger fleet was already in the single digits in 2010 or 2011. Or any of the South American countries for that matter just because of how few jets that they have. Israel would be a cool addition.

 

What would the Red Air be? Angolan aircraft, Venezuelan Su-30s and Libyan aircraft? Perhaps Qaddafi orders Libyan aircraft to fly to Angola during Operation Odyssey Dawn much in the same way Iraqi aircraft flew to Iran during Desert Storm? 

 

That could be the reason why the UN request goes unanswered because the usual actors are too busy bombing Libya.

Hmmmm sounds interesting, Maybe aid from Sweden ? Be nice to see some Viggens/Drakens/Gripens in theatre, Argentine involvement is interesting, but as Viggen says, the availability of Mirage/Fingers is an issue, however some Pucaras maybe ? and some Skyhawks....just a thought.....late model Scooters using the k model from the DLC pack.......just adding my two penny worth.

Ya I figured Argentina would be a bit of a stretch I was thinking maybe replace Argentina with some Turkish upgraded F-4E's?

I think red aid would def be Venezualan Su-30's and maybe F-16A's... Ground forces would probably be Cuban and Angolan... Angolan Fitters, and MiG-23's and Mi-8 and 24's Libyan Mirage F-1's (cool match up for SA's F-1's) and MiG-23's...

 

My intention is kinda to make it look like both sides kinda have rag tag air forces that are cobbled together with the couple Israeli pilots bringing the real muscle

Turkey ?....."SHUDDER" .......also as Angola is an ex Portugese territory, may not they maybe have a vested interest there ? some F-16s and Alpha Jets, or Ginas if you wanted to go a bit earlier ?

If it is "What if..." i would go with  eighties. Eighties were colourful, disco, nice jets,

 - Portugal involvment - yes.

maybe peackeepig force - Swiss AF ? Sweden AF also cool.

I don't know about South America (and Israel) - for me it doesn't  fit there much. - Maybe one soth America country for change...

.. unless you will put loaned aircrafts with overpainted insignia...

I agree with Yakarov, why would South america even be there, I dont imagine there is much influence in africa from Latin America, I think the talk about Israelis being involved, was more as a wild geese kind of thing, or maybe Israeli airforce and aircraft industry advisors there coverting the Airforce on to Kfirs and Neshers........more likeley to be European influence if there was a UN type deal going on, it would be nice to not see US and Brit involvement at all for a change......So, Portugese/Spanish in the 80's you have loveley Ginas, and Matadors, plus didnt Rohdesia have Ginas too ? oh, and Jags........Nigerian Jags.......smashin' stuff !! loads of possibilities

First, I like it. But, I think a meddlesome China wanting mineral claims in Africa makes for a better benefactor to the Angolans. I'd have a coalition of African nations (including the Algerians, perhaps) backed by China fighting the South Africans who are getting help from French naval forces and possibly Brazilian or UK military assistance.

What about a UN sponsored mission of Swedish AF, only recon and fighter units so South African units can concentrate on A-G attack?

Maybe... Good feedback I guess I was lookin for some theatre to make a campaign full of old/obsolete aircraft and cobbled together forces if that makes sense
