Skyviper 1,101 Posted April 23, 2017 Four hours ago, coming home from Church. I saw 3 blackhawks flying very low over my neighborhood. Two were up close another out in the lead. I thought this weird because I typically do not see military aircraft flying on the weekend. Now we have flights of C-130s flying Monday-Friday at various times of day (Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night) you can set your watch to them. I live near (30 minutes) away from LRAFB. Interestingly enough too (this happened a couple of weeks ago) I saw a medivac blackhawk orbit an area approximately 200 yards away from house as well. For 30-50 seconds they flew in a tight circle and then headed off to the north. The women in my town aren't that freaking hot. The aircraft altitudes (in case you're wondering) for both sightings, was less than 500 feet. It's probably no big deal, but it's not everyday I see something like that in my area. I was lucky to see a lot of aircraft fly over my house. When I was younger I thought a flight of cobras (4) was going to blow our house up. I just finished watching an hour long documentary of them, and saw all the stuff they were blowing up. Every time you saw one it's shooting something. So figured they were coming for me! lol. I ran as fast as my little legs could carry me. Another time I heard a loud roar and when I ran outside to see what it was two F-14s flew right over our house. I remember seeing a very long line of Huey's flying over too. It seemed like it never stopped. (that was a year or two prior to the F-14s) Chinooks woke up from a nap once, shook everything in house too. Sorry for rambling. The blackhawks for some reason have me wondering. There aren't any airshows going on as far as I can tell either. So it normal for military aircraft to fly on the weekend? (Peace-ish time?)
Stratos 3,188 Posted April 23, 2017 How lucky! Last year saw a Tiger chopper flying over my home escorting a couple of Pumas.

+1977Frenchie 1,038 Posted April 23, 2017 I saw some military plane flying over my house (CF-18, C-130, CC-140, CH-118, CH-149) but nothing will get over two German tornados flying over the national road past my house at 200ft in the late 1980's. I almost shit in my pants :) They were on exercise and heading to Goose Bay. Another time, i was working on the roof of a plant and me i my co-corwer saw CF-18 in the sky. Then one went to a dive right toward us! Good thing it was only a simulation :) On a sad note, there was a crash near my house (on the sea shore) 2 years ago (pilot dies and it was my neighbor) and the RCAF C-130 and Helo were doing their circle right over my house at 400ft. Even if event was sad, i took pictures of them.
charlielima 328 Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) Probably a training weekend for National Guard. Oh yah I see ditch hawks single or triple flying over my house, on weekends from what I think is Boise to Fallon. The best was back in the 60s when the H-34s would fly over our house in HB from MCAS Tustin to their ship at Long Beach. Mike Dora 171 Posted April 23, 2017 About thirty years ago I was living in Chester in NW England. One hot summer Sunday with all the windows open (no a/c in British houses!) I heard what sounded like a Tiger Moth, but too loud for a Tiger Moth. Ran outside and found was right on both counts. It was a loose formation of _12_ Tiggies, painted all colours, low-level ferrying I guess between airshows. Looked like the original Flying Circus!
