November 1945 Group Captain H.J. Wilson set a World Speed Record - 606.25 mph

 

In 1946 Group Captain E. M. 'Teddy' Donaldson beat the record in another Meteor at 615.78 mph.

I absolutely love the Gloster Meteor. As an aviation mad teenager in the mid-1970's, for a while, our local library only had two aircraft books 'Gloster Aircraft since 1917' and 'The Gloster Meteor' by Edward Shacklady so it's no wonder I'm fond of it!

There´s one Meteor missing - a late F.3. Is the regular F.3 with the F.4´s long engine nacelles. Eager to see it!

Yes...I know. 15 airframes were built, some converted later into F.4 Like the F.4 speed record breaker here + guns. I think something can be arranged. The one truly missing is the prone pilot variant .

There were actually little different nacelles...but the idea was to have long chord nacelles.
