I still have to place 3 SAM sites close to this base. This has to be done tomorrow.

I really like the rivers! Had several family members, and older brothers of friends that served there. They always commented on how brown the water was.

Kep Airfield and the 3 SAM sites around the base. The first SAM site appears in 1967, the second 1968 and the third 1969.

Noi Bai Airfield. After the war reworked and enlarged with a second runway and terminals south of the old military base. Today known as Hanoi International.

Hue Airfield renamed to Phu Bai Combat Base near Hue and reworked (WIP)

An Army and Marine Corps base south of Hue. It was attacked by North Vietnamese ground forces during the Battle of Hue in 1967.

Since it is an Army Base it would be nice to have static AH-1 Cobras and UH-1 Huey on this base

got both the huey and cobra statics!! You should already have the huey on the 2 airfields I sent you. Also have a Wessex "standing in" for the H-34 Chocktaw. Pluse the EC-121, HH-3 and some others

I changed the skin of the static Huey from bmp to jpg, to increase the in game performance.

For instance, the body skin had originaly 768kB size, and now only 52kB

Great Idea!! That never occurred to me! I never had any issues, but I've got a pretty good machine.

I'll get the Cobra to you in the next couple of days. Making sure the PMs are working!!

I forgot to mention the CH-47 by Sucidial. The only thing about that one, is it has some cargo boxes sitting around

I can’t remember if in an earlier post you said that you didn’t want to use them, but as YAP-RW is now available to all now, I think there are static fixed wing aircraft and helicopters amongst the things that would fit well in the terrain.

just double check everything. when i did the same for the YAP-RW team, i found that several models had one or two panels that blanked out if you swapped to jpg. the F-100F is one example; the fuse has to be bmp but wings and tail are converted to jpg

more frustrating was that it wasnt all but just one per...

what I would do with terrain object aircraft with painted on squadron markings and serials, is touch up the paint job and remove them. That way, it give a more 'generic' look. (this is what I did on the parked birds on the Iberian Penninsula map)

What about hex editing the LODs to change to jpg? It's a simple 'find and replace' function. Done it many times.

The issue as described (F-100F), however, points me to a defect in compiling the LOD. Since TK went to jpg textures on SF2, the game engine (tm) don't care which of the 2 formats are used. Hell, even that little flirtation we had with DDS worked because the damage textures are in that format.

one trick in the bag i never quite got the hang of

besides, took long enough doing a simple bmp to jpg swap across several hundred skins. for a project i wasnt 100% on board for topic. but i did want to see another community thrive so i helped what i could

back to here: listen to the two Kevins . check and change if needed

Takhli AFB reworked. Deleted some new buildings and added more old ones and the entire bunker area.

I'm near to finishing DRV 2.1 terrain. The only thing i still have to do is to rework Da Nang AFB again.

Give me two weeks.
