Problems with Exp.1
elephant replied to elephant's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I turned to high and I got effects back but only the default ones not the modded ones I was using. I switched back to unlimited and original effects still there. I exited and reentered game effects lost! Back to high still no effects... I disabled all mods, graphics set to high game worked fine. Graphics unlimited fine again. I started adding mods then. When I add my modded Flight folder from SF2I I lost effects. I disabled it and original effects-back. Something was conflicting inside Flight folder. I tried disabling PARTICLESYSTEM.INI effects working again Enabled back PARTICLESYSTEM.INI and effects still working! I gave up...I don't know if there will be any effects the next time I'll fire up my game, not to mention the modded effects I was using till now are not showing up at all. PS the odd shadows remain either the graphics are set to unlilited or high... -
Problems with Exp.1

Thanks guys! I'll try with effects set to high tonight... -
I installed the new Exp.1 addon on a clean combo install and many effects as: engine smokes, damage smokes, explosions...are missing. The game also contantly crashes upon hitting the esc button to end mission... Does anyone else having those irregular shadows on the pilot helmets? I thought I saw these only on new a/c or am I wrong?

Sorry, not yet available, unfortunatelly... Still working on them with X-RAY. I had to leave on a buisness trip and we both have limited to zero spare time. We are going to present an ultimate Israeli pilots pack, as historically accurate as possible, from the 50s to present....As Soon As Possible...

Wip Preview No 2. Pilots from the sixties sporting all the equipment mentioned in the above posts. Notice the characteristic orange Mk.4 British made life preserver and the faded kakhi flight suit. The above documentary futage revealed that the APH-5 helmet was worn as well so I added one. I have no clear evidence for the type of parachute harness worn by IDF/AF at this period so I added an American back type similar to the one worn by USAF in the Korean War.

OK, but you seem to be far ahead on completing them first. I found the same difficulties gathering info and my own research agrees by 99% with yours. My only objection is the life peserver worn in the early years. According to my findings the most common life vest, worn up to the 70s? was the British Mk.4. See pictures bellow and also some 6 Days War futage including Mirage, Mystere and Vautour pilots wearing the very same vest.

Oh, I didn't know that...I did't want to spoil it for you... I actually used some parts from your great World pilots pack. Being relatively new to the SF series I had to start from somewere...and your excellent work provided a fine basic template. Of course you are mentioned in my credits, among the others who have also mentioned in yours... You'll probably catch me up as I haven't concluded on my research yet. BTW do you know what type of parachute harness was worn during the 60s? I presume American back type like the ones worn in Korea but I'm not quite sure.

Hi guys, Dave, (USAFMTL), the other day, asked me for an Israeli F-15 pilot. Real life obligations and a computer meltdown halted me for a while. Yesterday, I gathered the info I was fishing all this time and started over... In the pic below you can see pilots from the mid 60s and 70s to 80s and 90s with different helmet-mask configurations according to historical documentation. The F-15 and F-16 pilots in the pic are equiped with the first generation DASH helmet (Display And Sight Helmet) from the 90s. Also sporting the official type (F-15, F-16) efficiency patch on the right upper sleeve. All pilots also bearing an Israeli flag patch on the left upper sleeve... More research to be done to have them nailed... More to come from the 50s and early 60s up to date.

Go to the Air & Ground Expansion Pack ReadMe. There is a section there refering to the tracers and how to customise them. -
Is this normal?
elephant replied to elephant's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have SF2 combo... the mods involved were: F-86 E10 (my plane), MiG-15 bis (enemy) and the map was: better textured Korea... I was playing a single mission and while trying to save a wingman in trouble, I noticed that I could see my frienly plane over 2 miles ahead but couldn't see the enemy I was chacing half a mile away. What I was seeing was an empty red square with exaust fumes that suddebnly became a plane when I reduced the distance to less than O.4 nm. I double checked it and if I was targeting anything it disappeared beyond that distance. I also checked the targeting system because I had changed it earlier to hard, but it was set to normal...don't know if it has to do with it in any case... -
I just noticed that the enemy aircraft "locked" with the red square disappears at about 0.4 n miles from my sight! I can see any other plane in greater distances but not the "squared" one...I can even see it's exaust fumes but not itself. It just pops up when the distance between us is -0.4 n miles. Is this normal? Or I screwed anything up? Is there a way to fix this by editing something? Thanks.

Here is my first attempt at skinning for Strike Fighters series. My obsession for historically accurate pilot skins and my work on them is well known in IL-2 series community. For the last week or so I have discovered the SF World... I must say I have seen some excellent skinjobs on pilots here in SF community... Here is my first attempt on doing so...more of trying to find my steps on the new ,for me, template... I used a skin based on a Diego Losano's template, (he must be something like a guru on the matter), as a base, for creating an early Korean War USAF pilot to match with the early Sabres I've downloaded recently. In this WiP shots you can see the P1-B helmet worn with B-8 goggles, typical for the period. The rest of the uniform and gear are stil WiP... I wonder is there a way in SF to have different pilot skins on planes as we do in IL-2 series? (as a menu option like plane skins-loadouts). Here is my work on the same theme for IL-2 Have in mind that the actual pilot skin there is only 256x256
