Except for the fact that I have first hand knowledge of people and events that TIME and it's ilk talk about...and get wrong. FastCargo

Yet plenty of pilots still call them that. Just because a moniker is outdated doesn't mean it doesn't stick around. FastCargo

Iran to buy 24 J-10 jet fighters from China
FastCargo replied to Atreides's topic in Military and General Aviation
Duplicate topic. Thread closed. FastCargo -
The file has been moved to the proper location. Hopefully it'll make it easier to find. FastCargo

Actually, just did some 'net searching...it's exactly what I thought it was. I may have a detailed picture in my Jane's book from 78-79. It shouldn't be too hard to model...just kind of need to know what was it's purpose? Steerable camera similiar to under nose mount in F-14? FastCargo

I've been using Lithunwrap with the 3ds export files, and using Paint Shop Pro 6. Also, the GiMP has a few quirks but people seem to like it well enough... FastCargo

Mike, It wouldn't be hard at all...just dimensions to make the model and make a weapon station for it in the data.ini file. What does it look like? Pictures? FastCargo

Oh yeah...TIME is such a fountain of knowledge. Ask most military members what they think about the media's accuracy about anything military related. And especially aviation related... FastCargo

I think the way to fix that is to turn the C-130 into a bomber in the data.ini. FastCargo

I really don't know...but I suspect it had to do with TKs focus on the allied side of the WOE ops. However, don't take that as gospel. As far as what would happen? Hey, give it a shot! I'd be curious myself... FastCargo

To capun, you must listen! Also, if you haven't already, download Mustangs tutorials...a must have...has a really great tutorial on using UVW mapping for texturing. FastCargo

Actually, I probably will address the TOW rocket...really don't like the launchers and rocket LOD as it sits right now... FastCargo

Man, these things do some damage! Just before the MOAB hits (you can see it over the left middle warehouse). And after most of the smoke clears: That was ONE non-nuclear bomb...fun fun fun! Released and ready for leaving some craters! FastCargo

View File MOAB for SFP1/WOV/WOE (Version 1.1) ***************************** Version 1.1 Notes **************************** BLU-82 has been deleted. Improved texture and animation for GBU-43 (MOAB). Readme changed. **************************************************************************** Thanks to the following folks: TK - For the ThirdWire series of sims. Bunyap and Wpnssgt - For the original Weapons Pack. Mustang - For the great video tutorials. To my fellow Combatace moderators - For helping me beta test and work out bugs. Any errors or mistakes are entirely mine. What you will need first: Bunyap's Weapon's Pack - http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=2672 Thirdwire Weapons Editor - http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_tools.htm Copy of SFP1/WOE/WOV patched to the latest standard (as of 22 Oct 07) Notes and limitations: The MOAB (GBU-43/B) is a very LARGE weapon. More than likely, it will not fit (without serious visual clipping issues) inside of any bomber. In reality it are dropped from cargo aircraft, specifically the C-130. You will have to adjust the weapon station inside the cargo aircraft you want to drop from to 'fit' the weapon. Look specifically at the following limitations: LoadLimit= DiameterLimit= LengthLimit= AllowedWeaponClass=EOGB AttachmentType=USAF These limits MUST exceed the dimensions of the weapon you want to load...otherwise, it won't show up! The dimensions are spelled out very clearly in each weapon's weapondata.ini entry. Also, if you have a problem with a weapon showing up, make sure you are within the years the weapon was used, and that your carrying aircraft is USAF...because I made these weapons non-exportable. Now, if you want to use it in another nation's aircraft, just change the Exported=FALSE (in the weapondata.ini) to Exported=TRUE. The other option is to change the aircraft's data.ini entry to NationName=USAF...like I did with Dels excellent Aussie C-130J. Since weapons are 'hung' in the TW engine, coordinate systems to mount the weapons in the bay should not be based on where the 'floor' of the bay is...rather the floor plus the height (thickness) of the weapon is where it is mounted. I've provided my WeaponsStation for the MOAB as an example using Dels C-130J: [MOABStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=1 StationGroupID=1 StationType=INTERNAL AttachmentPosition=0.05,-2.1,0.4 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,-35.0,1.5 LoadLimit=9600 LengthLimit=9.2 AllowedWeaponClass=EOGB AttachmentType=USAF BombBayAnimationID=3 BombBayOpenTime=5.0 BombBayCloseTime=5.0 Both weapons 'slide' out of the back using an extraction parachute. You should use the EjectVelocity numbers...they help prevent the weapon 'dropping' through the floor. You WILL have to fiddle with your weapon stations quite a bit to make it look right when it sits in the cargo bay. I can't help you with that...but the knowledge base at Combatace and the PDF file with the latest WeaponsPack will help out a lot. That is nice dude...you the man! FastCargo

Okay, I feel better. I flew today, found out I'm probably in the airshow practice this Friday, people seem to like the hours patch concept I came up with in the squadron...and I picked up HL2:The Orange Box for the PC for 28.95 at the BX today! Woohoo! Now I just have to find room on the hard drive... Anyway, I was a little annoyed when I first posted...I probably was more brusque than normal. Folks, it's okay to ask for stuff...it's the WAY you ask that counts. First, don't ask about something if you haven't done a search first...that's 95% of annoyances. Second, if you do ask, be polite...and don't beg or try to give some sort of compelling reason why your aircraft should be made. Frankly, most reasons given fall into the 'I don't give a rats ass' variety and will quickly be round filed. Third, if a modder wants to give status reports, he will. This is a fairly small community...news about releases tends to spread quickly. Poking and prodding about your wants and needs will not make it any faster...and will probably just piss him off. Now, if he asks for inputs (like I did with a weapons thread) then feel free...but you damn well better be nice and constructive about it. Finally, modders aren't looking for people to kiss their ass...that would be uncomfortable. Most of the time, just simple respect and a 'thanks a lot' will do. Also, most are willing to help you with issues you have with what they put out there, but please, follow the readmes first, again, most problems are solved right there. 99% of you guys know this, and respect it and modders appreciate it. For those that whine and beg...you have to realize just how much TIME goes into these creations. Hell, I'm only doing weapons right now and I've spent HOURS on most of them. I'm scared to even attempt an aircraft...which makes flippant 'simple as that' statements extremely galling. I really am a nice guy...just caught me on a bad morning is all. Expect more weapons in the future... FastCargo

Sorry, I'm a little grumpy. Had to stand in formation for a change of command...lovely first thing to do for my reserve week. My back gets more sore doing that than pulling Gs in a T-38... Plus I stayed up late last night finishing up the GBU-43 and BSU-82...so it chaps my ass seeing folks going 'I want, I want, I want...'. Okay, going to go fly now...hopefully I'll feel better later. FastCargo

And shall I get a latte for you too? Folks, stop with the want, want, want. Unless you're paying for it, modders make stuff based on their own motivations...and you wanting this, that, and the other ain't going to make it get here any faster. In fact, if I was a modder, I'd make something like that, show you some screenshots, then not release it just because you asked like a 4 year old. Shut up, and wait, and be happy with what you get for FREE. Or, better yet, pony up the money, buy the program you need, and learn to do it yourself. Sheesh. FastCargo

Missing skin for the Mk.46 guided torpedo
FastCargo replied to SkyStrike's topic in General Discussion
Now them's fightin' words! FastCargo -
Too much for the job? Fixed the guidance problem. Final ini tweaks, and she'll be ready...along with this bonus: For you Vietnam era droppers...not accurate like the MOAB, but can be fun! FastCargo
