Ahhh the Consolidated B-36 Peacemaker.... A damn big nuclear bomber with 6 prop engines (pusher type) up until the B-36D when 4 J-47's were fitted on ourboard pylons... became known as 6 turning and 4 burning... I believe the largest bomber to fly... Here is a good site: check out the sections about mishaps and also the nuclear powered aircraft testbed NB-36H... scarry stuff... "yea let's fly with a nuke reactor onboard!!!... wheeeeeeeeee" http://www.cowtown.net/proweb/B36_Home.htm click on the wings and turning props at the bottom for links to other pages -

No flare
LordOliver replied to Rompedor's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Be aware as has been stated in other threads that almost all of the planes of the time period did NOT even have flares. The only one that did was the F-4E and that was with an external pod. The flare command was added by TK for future add-on's -
Loadouts
LordOliver replied to *Fast Eagle*'s topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
That makes sense though, Part of what the patch attempted to do was to make MP even among players. The hosts settings ovveride the clients. If there are different data files, the clients get them via the host and if there is a data file that is unattainable for some reason, the client gets a no-go when it comes to flying. A good concept when you think about it. -
I got a Problem
LordOliver replied to Cylix=JW='s topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
As far as I know... the AVI file format can actually be one of many types of Codec's... For example... DIVX files are tagged as .AVI, but so are the movies recorded from my miniDV video camera... It all depends on what codec FRAPS records with and which codecs WMM can read.... I think... anyone? -

skyraider sounds
LordOliver replied to savagkc's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It just dawned on me that if you are using the soundlist.ini that came along with the A-1H package, that was developed pre-patch... the one I showed you was from the patched version so that is where the differences lie. I extracted my post-patch file and manually edited it. If you want to extract the file it is in the ..flight folder and the cat file is FlightData.cat. The file to extract is soundlist.ini The a1engine.wav should be in the ..sounds folder. Outside of that I dunno what the problem could be :?: :?: :?: -
skyraider sounds
LordOliver replied to savagkc's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Make sure you have a correct soundlist.ini The beginning of the file should have this: ...SoundFile024=A4Engine SoundFile025=F104Engine SoundFile026=AAA SoundFile027=BigExplosion SoundFile028=A1Engine... The end of the file should have this: [A1Engine] Priority=NORMAL 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=TRUE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=2 FrequencyControl=TRUE MaxDist=500.000000 MinDist=50.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=0 I upped the maxdistance to 500 from 250... it makes fly-bys sound better as the sound does not cut in and out. This file is found in the ..flights folder and if you do not have it, check the A-1H installation .zip file to see if it is there and copy it to the folder. Failing that, use the .cat extract utility, and extract the file from the FlightData.cat file and make the changes I noted above. You'll have sound then. -LO -
For spring tension, I heard it is as simple as taking a couple coils in the middle and compressing them together and wiring them together. This will take out some of the stiffness. Fates... nice mod man. Happily I like My X-54 as is. It fits well ( I have big hands) Besides, St. Paulie Girl is incompatable with my operating system. (I'm a Guiness kind of guy) -LO

iI am using Marco's cockpits and they seem to fit the bill for now. The only AI's that had radar that I am aware of were the MiG-21's. So for the other MiG's I am using the radarless F-100 pit painted Soviet blue. For the MiG-21's I am using the F-104 pit with a makeshift Soviet RP-21 radar developed by eruyi over at the SimHQ forums. It is not as easy to use as the US radars... has only 1 range and loses lock easily. He has a radar screen overlay for it, but at this time SF does not allow overlays, though TK stated he would look into it. http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bb...TML/003540.html

RWR Activation

MiG-17F Cockpit
LordOliver replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Ahh si it's true about what I read about the vertical white line in the cockpit. Apparantly, it was there so if the MiG-15 started a flat spin, the pilot was supposed to push the stick to the white line to get out of it. There is a privately owned MiG-15 in Daytona Beach near where I live... I wonder if I could get a chance to see it, maybe get permission to snap some pics. -

About Mutliplayer Problem
LordOliver replied to Cylix=JW='s topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The only mods I have are Deuces terrain, Flyable MiG's, The AH-1 and the RP-21 radar for the MiG-21's. These are pretty much purely cosmetic effects. With these mods, I was still able to enter into an MP game and I had no probs. I think the real problems start when the DATA.ini's are modified to which all of mine are still original +patch. -
it was .... er interesting... I especially liked the pleading on the last page.. how does the saying go??? "We reap what we sow" Didn't the kid say he was stoned to boot?... How ironic. I wonder if they actually emailed him?

Yeah, Kali is ok too.. I use it for Panzer Elite. I just tried MP in HL for the first time tonight since patching and did not have a single error or CTD. Maybe it is just my luck. Take a breather MJ... don't let it get to you. I myself am haveing a grand ol time with this sim. Maybe my expectations weren't as high as some, I dunno. The only 2 other sims I fly are IL-2 and Flanker and the occasional forray into CFS1 flying WW1 planes with my old Ritterorden squad. Each game has it's own brand of frustrations. I just don't stress about them anymore. I enjoy what I have while I can and that is the fact of it. For this sim, strike missions and CAS are a blast for me (literally), the sounds are great.. the visuals very nice. The community support has been outstanding overall,, and for any sim, you cannot ask much more than that. Sure there are naysayers as well as fanatics (all games have them), but I believe the overall tone has been positive. As for development, TK has been the only developer who has ever answered a personal email from me about a game. That reflects a certain amount of pride and dedication to his work and I am impressed. He might have had a better pub than Strat First, but you deal with what you have, and he has been doing that. Overall, I still give this game a hearty thumbs up, I enjoy it and interacting with the people involved with it.
