Erik, If it seems like a rant from my point i beg to differ. Debates are like chess as you must be anticipating possible responses so as to be prepared with a rebuttal if needed.. Obviously i was in error somewhere. I'll have to check back through the thread later as anyways, i'm nodding off at the keyboard and i have to go to work tommorrow. I will ask some more of my co-workers to get their opinians as to this subject.

To a certain extent, as there are number of people who come from places such as Scandinavia who have it way better than pretty much the rest of the planet. Caes such as mine? Doesn't apply at all since here in the US i would actually have it better than what i expect in the UK. One category i forgot... Welfare sponges. The UK and Canada are the most notorious soft touches for these people. Some will do little to nothing but claim(and recieve)an untreasonably large amount of benefits despite doing litle to nothing at all to have earned them. And to follow your(apparent)train of thought to a logical conclusion, it still doesn't give anyone the right to go to another country without following their laws and customs as to how that is to be done.

There are many reasons. My family's reason was political. My Grandfather decided to see if Castro would be any different than Batista. After a year or so he he got out and started geting others out too. You could also have things such as wars and civil upheavel. A number of the Africans i work with come from the Congo and the surrounding regions. With others it's poverty and/or lack of opportunity to improve their lot in life. That's mainly what drives a lot of the Latinos into moving. A few are looking for the "Big Killing" you can make in America. Pull it off and you will become part of the Elite back home For some it could just be a perceived better deal. There are lots of people from the UK in the Las Vegas area that just couldn't stand it anymore over there. A couple i've talked to think i'm crazy to want to go. I assure them that the ghetto i'm moving to in Liverpool is safer than the slums i've lived in here in a few places. I'm in yet another category. The "What The Hell" migrants. I want to see the UK for an extended period. I've known dudes that up and took off for Europe and Japan almost on a whim just to see what it was like. A few came back, did the paperwork packed up fully and took off forever. If anyone could add reasons, please do.

Personally i'd be up to getting the southern border to the point that a jackrabbit would need to show papers. Want to know how they catch illegal Dominicans in Puerto Rico? The Immigration and Customs people are mainly Puerto Ricans and Cubans. They can spot a Dominican easy because not only do they look different, their dialect is distinct. Back across the water they go. About anyone coming here a few centuries ago, i don't remember seeing the United States Of America on maps i have studied of the European colonial period. But there sure was that country on the map when my family came, and they just couldn't waltz in here and claim rights and benefits. I've told Illegals that i've worked with "Hell, you might as well keep going north to Canada because things are getting pretty tight these days in the US." Whatever solution comes, as long as it's not an amnesty people would be willing to listen. And no, staying here while doing the paperwork is not going to work. That IS an amnesty. It might end up having to do it in something like shifts, planning the outward bound and those who went through procedure and are coming back.

Time to add my 2 bits worth. I don't have the SLIGHTEST ounce of sympathy towards illegals. Not one. Remember the topic i started some time ago about moving to England? Well, i'm still want to go but had to push it back a bit. Will i jump on a plane, get there and say, "Yo UK! I'm here?". Hell no, i have to go to the Counsulate in Los Angeles and do what i gotta to visa up. What ALL illegals need to do this...Go back to where you came from, do the paperwork, wait, come back. Now a whole lot of people think that is rather impossible. Think i care? If my ass wants to move to another country and I have to go through the procedure, they can too. Think i'm being a bit harsh? I work with immigrants. Im my shift there are exactly four of us out of about 80 that were born here. ALL of them visaed up and came. Why should others get to cut the line? Their reactions as a whole are enlightening. Do you know that all the Africans i know waited about 5 years to get in? The Cubans have varying times, but i've heard of waits of between 4 and 7 years. The Mexicans and Salvadorans were about 2 and 4 years respectively. Man, are some of these people pissed the hell off at these illegals demanding an amnesty. You would dig talking to them as you'll hear all kind of obscenities you've never even imagined. Don't like that wait? Too bad! One of my Uncles had a hell of a time. He managed to get his wife and kids out but he had a bit of a delay. Know how these simps always talk of "breaking up the family"? Well, he finally got reunited with his family 10 YEARS LATER. Thats right, a whole damn decade. Needless to say, i couldn't care a wit about the hassles others will encounter. "What about kids who don't know the language or culture"? Oh hell, another one of my Uncles got here in the early 60s and was thrown right into high school without knowing a lick of english.Yep, no bilingual educations in those days. Especially in the Bronx, which was where the family was at. Want to learn fast? Deep immersion is the way to go. BTW, he ended up joining the USMC. Vietnam, Parris Island Drill Instructer, OCS at Quantico, etc, etc. As for the "Vital" jobs these people do, let me tell you something. I feel for the young these days because lots of decent paying entry level jobs are gone. Anyone remember breaking into something like construction? Unless it's union, forget about it in large parts of the country because some illegal already got the job. Ain't no way the contracter is going to hire you. Why should he? He already got cheaper labor AND most likely doesn't have to worry about insurance. Man, i can riff ALL day about this subject. As a matter of fact, i got a WHOLE lot more to say but i'm going to pause for a bit.

OK, i'm ready to start my new campaign. I loved WOV GOLD, but my comp is too old and slow to handle any downtown missions and it takes a really long time to fly missions in Spads. So i'm going to stay with WOE until i get something new. The pilot is Patrick Stover, USAF. Flying F-105Ds in the 22ndTFS out of Bitburb Airbase, West Germany. Start Date is 26/OCT/62.

Actually, it doesn't go that far. There are certain things which can leave one without any allowable reason to retaliate. Informers are pariah as well, there is no way that you can justify ANY action if one of your family is a known rat. As a matter of fact, the best course in that case to to cut them loose and what happens, happens. Street level politics is just as intense as what goes on in the UN.

Yes, that is the correct term. I actually factored this in to an extent since Germans are known to be a rather calm people. Over here? Cubans/Puerto Ricans/Dominicans/Colombians/Mexicans/Salvadorans are pretty much the Latinos i've been around the most enough to gauge threat levels to within a fine point. All are known for hair trigger tempers(Depending on the situation). Macelena's point was very interesting from a cultural point since all listed above are descended from Spaniards during their colonial period. Yet Spain avoided vengeance also (From what i have researched) and yet all of my list consider payback as almost a matter of course. Makes one wonder. A question i will pose to all is how would one respond in a family situation? As in ...Say one of your close relatives was put in a bad spot by someone and you find out who did it? So many factors have to be accounted for but i figure it should add to the original premise of this thread.

Very fascinating to find out what it's like for you people in Germany. One thing about Cubans in the US is what happens when some people get found out. The Uncle i mentioned above was walking down the avenue one day a few years ago and locked eyes with a former guard in the prison he did time in. If my Uncle was healthier he would have strangled the guy right on the spot, as even in his older years he is a remarkably strong fellow. As things went, he started yelling and the guard ran for it. My Uncle proceeded to pass the name and description around and they found out where the guy lived but he had quickly packed and took off. Which was good for him because he was going to be deader than hell. The one i told about that had the 10 name list? He actually ran into the son of the very policeman who arrested him years ago and sent him to be tortured during interrogation. The son recognized him and tried to play it off as that was years ago and he was a little kid then. The guy reminded the son that his father was a hardcore communist in Cuba and that the kid grew up also being commited to the cause. As far as Cubans are concerned, there is no such thing as an ex-communist. Sure enough, the kid had to leave town quick. There's been a lot of hits throughout the years because of situations like those. I always wondered how the Germans managed to avoid that.

I'm really amazed that the Deuce has a wing loading as small as it does. Who'ed have figured it?. That being said, i did find that the plane modeled in NF could certainly make for some severe over-shoots by a displaying very deceptive manuverability for a plane it's size. Did a quick search and found that delta wings are noted for low wing loads. Damn, feel silly not to have known this. LOL!

I've been wondering about this for some years now. With all that went on with the Stasi and learning about all the files about who was doing this and that and who were informers and spying on this person and that. How is it that payback was avoided on a large scale? Example... One of my Uncles years ago in Cuba, got drunk at a party and started talking all kinds of things about Castro and Communists in general. Sure enough, the police were at his door the next day and off to prison he went for "Counter-Revolutionary Activities". Well, some time later he learned who ratted him out. Needless to say, the favor MUST be repayed. I've heard a whole lot of stories like that throughout the years and there are countless guys i know who are just waiting for the chance to get back at those who put them away and/or otherwise screwed them in the old country. Some have hit lists that include multiple targets, one i worked with recently told me he had 10 names on his list. What i want to know is...Just how in the hell did you people avoid this kind of vengeance? Personally, i'm inclined to help out my Uncle in any way i can to let the informer know that he made a seriously terminal error even to the point of carrying out the actual act myself. Anyways, i'm still really fascinated by the fact that with all the information in the Stasi files, people in Germany didn't want to track down who did them wrong.

Welcome Stingray72, Glad to see someone new going fo the DiD challenge. The screen shots can be taken with IRfan or XNview, which is what i use. You can both easily online. If you ever decide to fly the WOV Gold mod, it would help to read the past AARs since a lot of info is there that would help you a whole lot. Oh yeah, i flew a 74th TFS A-7 in WOE some time ago. Finished it with 13 A2A kills as well. 9Ls FTW!

Get home from work, turn on the computer, head to combatace, get shocked! Just a few days ago i must have watched about a dozen videos with Ronnie James Dio on youtube. Man, the memories of being a metalhead in the 80s made for a nice night. Saw him twice, in 1985 with Yngwie Malmsteen and in 1987 with Megadeth. They were great gigs and Ronnie James Dio was a hell of a frontman with an amazing voice. I'm just curious to see if the media will give him the respect that they smother the current "artists" with.

I was heavily into MW4 some years ago and still fire it up every once in a while. I was also a regular at Mektek. If i was able to get past my wireless bridge (Ruckus MM2211)i would be dropping every day. Light mechs were my thing (charter member of The Light Brigade) but i fought in all weight classes depending on the map and situation. If you would like some loadouts, PM me. I had a few that really ripped back in the day.

Danm! I didn't know this series was so popular. Makes you wonder how many of the "Uber Real Sim" guys are dipping around here so as to be able to fly some classic planes that are available virtually no where else?

Hey Cliff, glad to see you're still at it! Was just about to post that i will be back flying soon. Having some difficulties in the real world but it should be resolved in a few days.

Damn UP, That kills off the majority of a topic was planning to write after thinking about the recently closed thread during work. Perhaps tommorrow or so i'll give try again.

Actually, it's a typo. The budget is about $1200. Portability is one of the big reasons since i'm going to have to haul it around a few times to get things recorded. As a matter of fact i don't even know how much longer i'll be living where i'm at and so being able to just pack up and move is a great bonus. If i use a desktop setup it will have to be sized small enough to unplugg a few cables and fit in a backback with room to spare. Being able to do things to your satisfaction would bring me a lot of joy. I remember hearing myself just days sfter the sessions were over and thinking that i could have done a lot better. What i do now is structure the songs in my head and work things out there. I've come up with a number of riffs that were forgotton since they were song specific and i didn't have the framework to record them at the time. When you are thinking in terms of 5-8 minute "short" songs and are ambitiously plotting 50+ minute adventures, you better have a way to lay down the blueprint and work things out.

It's a bit hard to judge from just a picture, but it looks like it could take a rope plug pretty well. We would wait a bit, trim the inside and prep the area, then go with a heavy duty patch over the trimmed part to reinforce the plug. Provided you weren't going to do something that would stress the tire intensely, the work would hold out nice!
