  1. Yeah, I didn't think that more than a dozen could fit in the hangar. It's a reason I was shocked back when the Soviets went the Su-33 route at first because they can't carry as many. Of course, now they've changed their minds and decided the Indians have the right idea!

    I don't text. Simple.
  3. I've had zero problems using Amazon payments for TW stuff. Ever since he started offering that I've done it instead of Paypal. I'm sure the problem is buried within the international transactions stuff, but I've no idea what it is. I'm surprised Amazon hasn't responded yet, though. Maybe try sending another email to a different address there?
  4. What's sad is the support of Syria being made purely for "we need our influence in the Middle East" reasons and not because anyone actually thinks Assad is right or anything. Oh, and as for Assad, he's been behind or supported all the crap that's happened in Lebanon, so how much worse could an actual fundamentalist regime there be? The difference would basically be the new regime would toot a different tune. If it wasn't for oil most of the world wouldn't care anyway. Look at other countries in say, oh, Africa? Many there with tons of troubles, but no oil, just Nigeria...and they're also a mess.
  5. How many KUBs will it be getting? A dozen or so?
  6. At this point, all the stories have been done. The question is how well the retelling is done. Urban can carry it, but I've no idea how good the script is, how good the director is, or any of the other factors. I saw the Stallone film, just once, and thought Max von Sydow was the only bright spot of the film...so naturally he wasn't in it much! While I won't dismiss this out of hand, I certainly won't bother seeing it until I can catch it on Netflix or cable!
  7. He's just another loser who happened to have a high profile job.
  8. I suppose we could start a "you know you're getting old when..." thread based on this!
  9. Oh hey, look at that!! Hmmm? What? Nevermind.
  10. For it not to be a replica, it would need to be totally or at least largely built of originally produced items from the original run. I say "largely" because many restorations replace a ton of original but badly deteriorated parts to the extent that you wonder just how much is left. A replica doesn't necessarily imply it's a smaller scale, like some have been.
  11. What's to say Urban WON'T?
  12. Well obviously not or it would be at least Kitty Hawk-sized if not larger! But I could guess almost half the ship's complement could fit in there compared to a Western carrier where just a small fraction could.
  13. Years ago I'd have agreed with you. More recently, though, things have soured to the point that I'm not sure. While I doubt Israel would refuse to do it, I could see there being a long delay in such a thing getting approved to the point that the crew would already be captured or rescued otherwise before it could happen.
  14. Many moons ago Sag was here. Stuff happened. Now he's not.
  15. Dammit, I'm the law, not a doctor! -- Leonard H Dredd, MD
  16. Plus many of the nations flying them never put much resources into training. I doubt they'd have survived more often even in better planes.
  17. The superstructure is immense relative to the vessel's size.
  18. That's a bit contradictory, isn't it?
  19. I was thinking more of the Shatner/Lithgow type, but I suppose him too!
  20. The only reason to prolong one's life in that case is if there's some distant hope of science finding a way to "fix" you before you'd die otherwise. For example, Christopher Reeve didn't give up until he died because he did have the hope that someday they'd be able to reverse the damage. However, in some cases it's obvious there's no chance you'll be ok ever again...
  21. Right, that proves a B-52 was lost, but it doesn't prove it was downed by a MiG, a SAM, AAA, bird strike, lightning, or a man on the wing of the plane.
  22. So is that supposed to be comparable to a 109F? I'm not up on which models the Spanish built post-War.
  23. The only thing that can be proved is which planes were lost on each side. The methods of bringing them down have been debated since before Richtofen's death. Now when either side claims to have shot down more planes than existed in the country of that type, you know they're wrong! But if one side says "10 by SAMs and 20 by MiG" and the other says "20 by SAMs and 10 by MiG", saying one side is right and the other wrong is hard to prove. Not to mention the claims that were in fact based on a heavily damaged plane that managed to make it back to base even though the attacker might find it impossible to believe. However, the US usually puts up tail numbers of lost planes and what caused their loss (which may or may not be accurate, but a loss is a loss). There are also records of how many of each were built and their tail numbers. It's pretty hard to fake having more planes than you actually do. You can't lose 100 more and hide it with that kind of transparency. Given how "open" the NVA and their friends were, it's pretty easy for them to say "we only lost 10" when they might have lost several times that number because who can contradict them unless you have the actual wreckages in your possession?
  24. One! One wonderful rivet, ha ha ha! Two! Two wonderful rivets, ha ha ha!
