After talking with Fates, we both agree FooFighter needs a little time off from posting. You are more than welcome to come back in a month and your posting privileges will be automatically reinstated. Foofighter, just a few words. First off, I don't recall I or Fates saying word one about what our political views are, and I know I don't think I've ever spoken about them on this forum. Yet you automatically assume what my political affiliations are. You, and many others would probably be surprised, but quite frankly it's none of your business. Suffice it to say I've NEVER been a person that votes along party lines, and would be damned hard-pressed to tell you if I was Republican or Democrat. Hell, I agree and disagree enough with both sides that regardless of your political membership, you would probably have plenty to argue with me about. :D I'll leave it at this, let's just say I'm not a big fan of ANY of the choices I'm seeing for presidential candidates at the moment. Now, that being said, you are being given a timeout for your attitudes towards the VOLUNTEER NON-PAID STAFF here at Biohaz, not for your political views whatever they may be. I challenge you to go back through the Kerry thread (the ONLY thread on Biohaz you have ever contributed to BTW, since joining in February 04) and find word one that Fates or I have spoken in regards to any political views express within. You won't find anything, because there WAS nothing. As for your accusations of locking down threads that we may not agree with, hell if that was the case Snapple buddy (among others) would have been booted long ago for some of the things he's posted. But instead, he is actually one of my favorite posters on the site, as he almost always brings a smile to my face. Do I agree with some of his views? Hell no, but I think if you ask him he will say he's never been prejudiced against by me or any other staffer here. When he has occasionally been warned, he is mature enough to understand that sometimes a neutral party has to step in and defuse the situation. And for that I respect him (even if he is just a punk kid... ;) I'm kidding Snap...) What I do not respect is the occasional user that screams censorship at the first little perception of disagreement with their views, regardless of the situation. And don't think I'm singling out Snapple. Who says I agree with some of the views that the old Navy guys around here either? ;) But again, I respect what they have done for this country, and I respect their wisdom that comes with age and situations you and I have never seen or experienced (nor would care to), and again, the maturity they display when discussing things. And yes, a few of them have been warned in the past, and have dealt with it with the same maturity and understanding that Snapple has displayed to me in the past. So, if you want to play the censorship card, it is your right, but I don't think anyone who's been here for any length of time will see it that way. It's not about views, it's about respect. You may not like us, but this is MY site, not yours, and you WILL respect the staff's requests. or you can go elsewhere. As I stated before, this is a SIM SITE, not a POLITICS FORUM, and ultimately I can request that the staff lock down all political threads if I so choose. Not gonna happen except as a last resort, but if this kind of crap happens every time someone brings up a political topic, then it's not worth hassling with. A year ago, I admit I had a lot more patience to deal with this type of stuff, but after blowouts with Galen Thurber and a few others, that patience has pretty much dried up and blown away. So, take a little while to truly think about what I just said. If you can see what I'm trying to convey to you, then after your cooling off period you are more than welcome back. If you don't like it and think I'm a blatent censor, then, quite frankly, you are still welcome back. But if cannot show the staff a little respect for a thankless job well done, then you are best off finding another forum to participate in, as respecting each other on this site is the one rule that I will not bend on. Think about it.

I decided that since I made statements that some may want to comment on, or might warrant discussion, I unlocked this thread. ;)

Happy Birthday Snap! Someday you may be a man yet... Ducking and running... :D

And this, my friends, is exactly why I don't have a politics forum here, or even like politics to be discussed. All it takes is one person to blow up to take the whole conversation down into the abyss. I used the Kerry thread as a little experiment to see if I was worrying too much about it and that maybe my attitude toward politics in the forums was wrong. Plenty of you seem to want some sort of open politics forum on the site, and while I am EXTREMELY reluctant to put one up, I thought I would test the waters to see what would happen. I admit that the conversation was pretty mature and everyone conducted themselves accordingly, but I FULLY support Fates decision to lock it. Why? Because even with the maturity shown so far, it was painfully obvious that the thread was a bomb waiting to go off at any second, and I think most of you would agree. Things were already getting dicey, and I absolutely gaurantee that someone was going to blow, within 2-3 more posts. Politics and religion are two subjects that I never debate on the internet, as you will NEVER change my mind on my beliefs, nor will I change yours. The only thing left is bad feelings and pissed-off people every time. And that, my friends, goes against the friendly community atmosphere the Fates, I and the rest of the staff strive to provide here. It's what sets us apart from most of the other sim site choices around the web, and I just don't see a single positive benefit to having a Politics forum here. On a personal note to Foofighter, I have this to say. If this statement was just a knee-jerk reaction to the thread lock, then you owe Fates an apology. He, nor the rest of the Biohaz staff, was not even involved with the discussion in question. To accuse him of locking the thread just to silence possible opposing views was , frankly, an insult. If you know anything about Biohaz, you should know I pride myself on the fact that people can have differing viewpoints here without fear of prejudice from the staff, or even most users. If, on the other hand, you truly feel that we condone thread locking to silence possible differences of opinion here at Biohaz, then you honestly may want to try out some other forums to see just how bad things can get. Biohaz locks very few threads, as a little browsing through the older threads will attest to. So if you truly feel we do what you accuse, then maybe Biohaz is not the place for you.

Help! Download Problem!
MadJeff replied to pcpilot's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
Sorry PC, thought I posted the answer in another forum. I deleted the entries as the files themselves never made it up here, looks like a glitch in the upload script. I need you to re-up them and I'll get them posted ASAP. :D -
Happy Birthday! Always beats the alternative... ;)
-
Wow, I caught that one right away, guess you and I are the only 1337 5p34k Haxorz here... ;)
-
Yeah, that reminds me, where the hell are all your news postings? :D

I just wanted to take a moment to announce that MrMudd has decided to step down from his Flight Sim Editor role here at Biohaz as of March 5 to pursue other projects. While we didn't always see eye to eye on things, I want to personally thank him for his contributions here at Biohaz these past 8 months, and the staff and I wish him the best on his future endeavors. His writing and unique perspective was well received and always looked forward to by both staff and members. I'm sure you will see him around the web. ;)

Biohazcentral Public Fs2k4 Server Online!
MadJeff replied to MadJeff's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator
I didn't say run the server, only help manage it. ;) FSHost allows remote management, including flight plans, etc. I just don't have time to deal with it at the moment with everything else in need of attention, but I really want to have the MP server available to Biohaz users, thus the reason for the plea of help. -
Biohazcentral Public Fs2k4 Server Online!
MadJeff replied to MadJeff's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator
Just a FYI to all the MSFS guys, the Server is back online and running. I've created an auto-update script that should keep things up and running full-time now, but let me know if it doesn't. I would like to find some volunteers to help manage the server as well as come up with new and interesting flight plans for the weekly fly-in. Anyone out there willing to help out? -
PC, the file descriptions were there for all the above files, but not the files themselves. Must have been a glitch with the upload script. Can you send them up again and I'll get them posted asap?

Tell me about it. This winter has really taken a toll on me, I'm way to heavy. Rejoined the YMCA and started working out again this week, felt good to get back in the old routine.

In case you haven't noticed, I've been conspicuously absent the past month or so, and I'm sure maybe one or two have been wondering what's up. :D I apologize to all for my lack of presence, but real life work has kept my seriously busy the past two months. We had a major acquisition that came to be in late February, so I've been eating/sleeping/breathing work the last month or so. The good news is it's finally over and I actually have time to read me mail and log on to the site now. For a few weeks there I got to a point where I was too tired to even come downstairs to check email for a week at a time. So for those of you that emailed me and didn't get a reply, I haven't been ignoring you on purpose. :D Things should be getting back to normal now, and I'll be working through a long list of site to-do's this weekend. I'm also working on a few surprises that I hope to share soon, but I'll hold off on that until I'm a little farther along in the process. It's good to be back!

New Site Look! (temp)
MadJeff replied to PG_Raptor's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
Actually it was a 2003 MOC course, we got a bunch of free vouchers from our MS rep so I figured I would use a couple. I'm on the Certification treadmill again this year (skipped 2000 cert as I was too busy consulting) and am currently working on my 2003 MCSE certs as well as a GIAC Sec cert, and updating my Citrix cert, and my brain is in overload. Next up (hopefully) is TechEd in San Diego this year. -
New Site Look! (temp)

SO I was delayed a little... ;) I had the flu all last week after our conversion weekend, then this week I've been at a Microsoft Tech Conference. Hopefully this weekend will be partially free, but I'm not going to promise anything anymore, since something else always seems to happen. -
So I'm not the only one that is totally freaked out by this commercial? The amazing thing to me is that a group of people sitting around a table all sat there and decided, "Yes, this is exactly the commercial we are looking for to sell our sandwiches", all with a straight face.

New Site Look! (temp)
MadJeff replied to PG_Raptor's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
I haven't had a chance to work on it yet. I've been swamped at work for weeks getting ready for this weekend's bank conversion. Yes, I have to work all weekend... :( Starting next week I should be back on my regular schedule and have some time to get things fixed. -
I missed the damn thing, had gone out to make a sandwich and get a drink. I didn't know anything about it until this morning while checking out the news online. I stuck to the TV for a bunch of good commercials that never came, and missed the only non-game event worth watching. :D The game sure was a good one however, especially since it as two teams I didn't give a rip about.

Just wanted everyone to know the file area is back online and you can resume your downloading. It was the LoMan 1.52 file that did us in last month, over 50% of our total bandwidth. I'm currently looking at some ways to help this from happening again this week, including a change to Powweb, who has a great package that has 5Gb transfers per day (Thanks for the tip Dueces) to limiting downloads to site members only.

Is this the Mountain Home AFB crash?
-
Finally got my replacement CPU and new case tonight and just finished swapping everything over, so I'm finally back up and running! I should be answering emails and such regularly once again, and I apologize to all that have been trying to email me the past two weeks with delayed answers. ;)

Thought I got all the different icons converted, looks like one snuck by me. On the list... :D

Temporary Problem With Dl's
MadJeff replied to GhostDog's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
We've used up all our 50Gb of bandwidth on the file domain. Looks like we are done until month-end. Sorry folks, but these damn 25Mb skins are really killing us... -

Do a quick search on eBay, you'll find one there.
