    A Cryptic Comet is holding a promo key sale of their games. There's only 3 of them but that includes a couple of interesting turn-based strategy titles, one set in a post-nuclear wasteland and the other in Hell. Apparently the infernal TBS Solium Infernum lets you buy Cthulhu-in-a-bottle.

  3. Once? Once?! In the original unpatched FE it took flak about 20 seconds to get a perfect shot at you, unless you dashed to tree top level. Oh, and one MG bullet could take off your wing. That was scary

    Since I'm half-arsedly tracking various sales, might as well start occasionally posting some fun deals here. Most of the time IsThereAnyDeal is enough to spot something, however there are exceptions. http://www.indieroyale.com/ Launch Bundle. Gets you 4 games for a dynamic price which is about $2$5 at the moment (wow, did it climb fast). One of the games, Nimbus, seems like something you might get for kids. Ares is a platformer, Gemini Rue is a point and click adventure, and Sanctum is a FPS/tower defense hybrid.
  5. Haven't seen night missions in stock campaigns for a very long time. Might be a good thing because the AI has cat eyes.

  8. If your plane is smoking grey ejecting over friendly territory is more likely to keep you alive. The game doesn't know whether you're landed or in the air when you end a mission, so resting in heavily damaged plane is an invitation for KIA.
  9. Okay... it's not fighters who's killing you. To avoid AAA the best bet is to keep low, turn on the ECM and look at the RWR screen. The guns that'll give you the most trouble are marked with <Z>. You want them somewhere to your sides not dead in front or in the back. Also, pause and look at the map. It'll show you enemy ground units. Then, since you're flying Red Lightning you also get killed by SA-8. There's next to no cure for that. Dodging, ECM and dumping chaff improves your chances but generally if there's SA-8 in the area (they like covering tanks) you can't come close anything until it's dead or wasted its 4 missiles. Solution - take 6 Mavericks. Always. Cycle through ground targets and knock out automatic AAA guns and SA-8 before you do anything else. If you're set up for a 2-plane flight, take another two guys at the roster screen, give them Mavericks and tell them to engage ground approaching the target area. Just be aware that SA-8's missiles are much faster than yours.
  10. Could you elaborate "AA fire"? You get a log at the mission debrief screen which will list what exactly shot you down.
  11. New DLC must've caused the game to reinitialize like it does after a patch i.e. to verify the files in the user's folder.

  13. Flying A-10 stay low. Not tree-top low but that's a good altitude to start. Each exe in SF2 uses it's own save/options/mods folder, but they'll give you an identical choice of stock planes, terrains and campaigns.

  15. Maybe TK's trying out detonator failure, only the explosion effects are still there? I saw one Flogger fly unscathed after it had two 'winders blast under its belly.

  18. Nope. You pick the skin on the loadout screen - you see that skin in the hangar. Any year, 24/7.
  19. Can you confuse the hell out of people by putting it in the boot?
  20. Could be the switch to the new hangar screens fully implemented. Even Harriers now change their picture when you switch the skin. Actually, those hangar portraits must've been what boosted the volume of the latest series of patches.

  23. Remember how, if you arrive for CAS and AS early, you had to fly around in circles waiting for the targets to spawn right in from of you? Not anymore. You can unload half of your ordnance on advancing tanks before they even make contact with your troops. Ships seem to spawn either at range on when you hit the "approaching target" waypoint - not sure on that one, more tests needed.
