My Secret War looks very interesting, but I think I won't be able to get it since it's not in Amazon's own stock

Sometimes you can have a strange tank battle resolution. It used to give your troops a total victory after you destroyed a few enemy tanks during CAS. Even if in the end enemy tanks were still active and the friedlies were wiped out. Now in those cases I sometimes see "Misson complete" a report of successful capture of enemy positio and the next day map shows the enemy sitill there at that point.

Found out that a huge book store in the city can order books through Amazon, which would be rather difficult for me to do personally - shipping here is awful. A while ago I've put together a list of stuff on Nam I might consider buying. Since it turns out quite expensive I thought of asking for your opinions about the order in which I should gradually get the books. Or forget about them The general list with likns to Amazon is roughly this lot Thud RidgeX Got it! 100 Missions NorthX Rupert Red Two When Thunder RolledX Clashes: Air Combat over North Vietnam, 1965-1972 First In, Last Out: Stories by The Wild Weasels Palace Cobra: A Fighter Pilot in the Vietnam Air WarX Over the Beach: The Air War in Vietnam Rampant Raider: An A-4 Skyhawk Pilot in Vietnam Launch The Intruders: A Naval Attack Squadron In The Vietnam War, 1972 On Yankee Station: The Naval Air War over Vietnam My idea for the first batch was 1. Thund Ridge 2. When Thunder Rolled 3. Palace Cobra 4... maybe.. not decided yet.. definintely one of the first-person accounts. Perhaps Rampant Raider to take a break from big birds So.. any suggestions? Something really cool I missed?

I wonder if they can hold on to the frame through sonic boom.

I don't know about fixed wings but for choppers winter is prefferable. At least here in Moscow. Few currents, air is more stable... Sure, it gets overcast once in a while and the snow vortex is an arse, and the engine takes longer to warm up, and you can't see most of the landmarks under the snow.. but the air is calm In summer it's more of a bumpy ride.

Laser Guided Bombs
Gr.Viper replied to ds75's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The game assumes that only the primary targets of strike missions are painted. Didn't check it in CAS. So the only targets you can use an LGB on with just a P.Penny are those bunkers, runways, fuel tanks etc that you're told to blow up. With a pod you can go for anything you can lock on to on the ground. -
Laser Guided Bombs
Gr.Viper replied to ds75's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Pave Penny allows A-10 (78) to use LGBs provided somebody else is painting them with laser. -

Yeah, but the only add-on TW had before (FE:XP1) did require the original game. -

Not quite, you will need the SF2:Israel for it to work - it has the terrain. BTW, I remember TK said that he'll try to release Suez both for WoI and SF2:I -
Crash during MAKS 2009 preparation

Now they say that Col. Tkachenko was killed because his parachute was caught on fire. And it all happened on our Air Force Day -
Crash during MAKS 2009 preparation
Gr.Viper replied to Gr.Viper's topic in Military and General Aviation
Same day a Yak-52 trainer crashed killing both the trainee, a son of a former "Russian Knight", and the instructor, European champion, Svetlana Fedorenko http://www.itar-tass.com/eng/level2.html?N...0&PageNum=0 -

I can't That external picture hosting may be a bit buggy -
Today two Su-27 of "Russian Knights" aerobatic team collided mid-air during training before MAKS 2009 air show due this week. The three pilots ejected, but one of the pilots has suffered severe spine injuries and the team leader Igor Tkachenko is reported dead. Also fragments of one of the planes crashed onto a country house community, destroying one house and setting two on fire. 5 people on the ground are reported to be injured or recieved burns. Small fragmets are scattered over a wide area but flight recorders have been recovered and seem to be in good condition. http://www.rian.ru/photolents/20090816/181117527.html

After Suez. No one thinks it colud be a semi-fictional scenario around 1958 Taiwan Strait Crisis? Communists used MiG-17 (done) and MiG-15 (almost done) As for Nationalists I can find bits mentioning them use a large number of F-86s, some F-84... + This was the first conflict to feature Sidewinders in action. If a later campaign were added it could feature F-105B and early Fishbeds, and make a more active use of USS Lexington and the elements of 7th Fleet deployed near Taiwan at the time. >Possible map covering roughly the same area as WoV map and leaving space for a fictional ground war scenario< -
Seems, the press are more excited about it than the "victim"

Kinda the same pattern we have around Moscow. You can't fly over the city, so the only way to get to the other side is to keep strictly over a road that goes round Moscow in a circle. Only clockwise path is allowed, atlitiude limits roughly the same, chat with ATCs of 3 major airfields while trying to keep away from power lines which pop up below, because the city is on hills and airfied weather staions are at a distance from it, so given pressure and altitude aren't always 100% safe. Oh, and direction limit and restricted city airspace do not apply to rescue choppers than can fly as they please + on occasion one of the airfields has their airliners on final approach pattern at 1000ft right above your head. I've been there once and I want another go... such a thrill -

Early Indopak will also reqire a bunch of new craft. And Falklands will need a new naval engine - in stock Tonkin Bay mission ship AI isn't very bright. WWI Eastern front tended to be more boring than Western which isn't fully covered yet. Hmmm... Taiwan? Of course TK could go mad and do something in the 30's -

Well, Suez preview shown at least MiG-15, Mustangs and F-84F. Jundging by SF2E F-84F is modeled quite up to flyables' level of visual detail. Why not MiG Alley? -
