  1. Guys there is no need to contact Combatace about uploading any modded files. Just upload them and give proper credit where it is deserved. So from our end go ahead. Follow Winder's wishes and PLEASE upload the sound files if they fit the criteria.
  2. Original RB "is" really , really awesome...I say is because I still play it.
  3. Did you guys get this over in the UK in the 70s?
  4. Balloon kills were defintley counted in world war one as aerial victories and they were a big part of the air war. I modded a campaign where all I got were Balloon missions and this is what I found out: If you are leading the flight and tell wingmen to attack, there is a huge chance that one of there bullets will score the killing damage. If you are leading the attack and just tell the wingmen to cover you (form up on you) and you do all the shooting and the balloon goes down, you will get to fill out a claim every time.
  5. Updated again! double balloon hunting mission with randon 2 seaters...quite a show. enjoy th pics!
  6. Thank you for the feedback!.... but you have to see the latest set of pictures I just posted. UPDATE: double balloon hunting mission with randon 2 seaters...quite a show. enjoy th pics!
  7. This was our 3rd mission on August 3, 1918. We had a "what you see is what you get board" that included a trench line, with opposing balloon brigades facing each other. On top of that there was also random automated recon planes flying up and down the trench. It was equal parts dangerous and fun time for the hunters. Jasta 11 and the 94th aero squadron really went at it and it was a draw. There were 4 kills including both the German and American balloons as well as a DH4 and LVG 2 seater planes shot down out of the sky. Lieutenant raymer of the French Escadrille also scored a very lucky balloon kill where he was almost shot down. Enjoy the pics and read the captions for details... The mission starts! Jasta 11 and the 94th jockey for position. Pilots James Cunningham (3 kill pilot and Captain of the 94th) and Delvechio (12 mission pilot of the 94th) aggressively strike the Drachen on the second turn. The balloon goes up in flames, Cunningham gets lucky and scores 5 hits to Delvechio's 4 and confirms the kill. Emil Vogel and Helmut Stenier of Jasta 11 sandwich Charles Burdick of the 94th with a bottom and top attack at 50 feet! Burdick gets away unscathed. Von Liebau of jasta 11 scores his 4th confirmed kill! he needed to score the maximum amount of hits on the right wing to bring the DH4 down. Emil Vogel scores an allied balloon after braving enemy fire Emil Vogel in his trusty Pfalz stalks an American SPAD XIII The Balloons are down and the chase is on! Cunningham blast a crippled two seater for his second confirmed victory of the night (at 300 foot altitude, 4 turns of firing...) and becomes an official ace! Jean Raymer sustains 3 engine hits on first pass at balloon and scores a killing blow. .
  8. Yes I have Richtofen's war! Don't throw that away ever! There are many people that would buy it on eBay etc. if it ever came to that. There have been many, many WW1 aerial combat games over the years but I keep coming back to Dawn patrol by TSR...it's just a magical game...it's so much fun.
  9. I like to make myself at least a Captain because I like ot lead the flight and see that as more realistic because of the Rank. I enjoy the period of 1918 so I tend to play the Yanks specifically the 94th aero squadron. That being said I try Germans, French and British as well and follow a similar pattern. I like the SPAD and the DR1 so I tend ot focus on those planes. I will try the Camel and SE5a soon ...
  10. Just a bump for those interested. Thread updated tonight with new pics. enjoy!
  11. another update including the Balloons that were made for this weekend's balloon hunting missions! check out thread above.
  12. Here are pics form last night's game. The 94th Aero was escorting a Bristol Fighter over an enemy aerodrome. The Bristol was tasked with a recon mission. The Germans attacked fiercly and scored a mind bending 3 engine hits on one pass by an older Albatross! The Bristol started smoking yet ultitmatley completed the misison and forced a Fokker DVII down to boot! I also include pictures on the Balloon hunting misisons that will take place in a few days and how I created the balloons by going to a craft store this afternoon. Enjoy! Martin Von Scrub draws first blood! Captain Luis scores a Fokker in his Bristol. Balloon Prep Balloons under attack just 30 minutes later!
  13. Very, very cool! wow! Thanks fates!
  14. Ok update to the game. 8 Players showed up and we had quite a furball. One Albatros was shot down (pilot hit) and all others planes went home with plenty of holes (and one lightly wounded newly minted Ace). Enjoy the pictures
  15. The ace dies only on the day he really died, so enjoy shooting him down again and again LOL! Pretend he crashed landed and if behind enemy lines he escaped!
  16. I think the claims rejected in real life are being a bit overstated in some post I have read. Eddie Rickenbacker with 26 victories had 2 claims rejected. On the other end Lufberry with 17 kills had about 20 rejected. Lufberry was an extreme case because of his lone wolf tactics deep over enemy territory. Rickenbacker would get in a motor vehicle, drive out to the front and get signed affidavits from witnesses at the front! I think the claim system is really good just the way it is. I would have probably acted more like Eddie....
  17. If I fly for the yanks I like to use "James Cunningham" which was my all time most succesful pilot in the TSR roleplaying game Dawn Patrol.
  18. 1. Yes 2. There are wind gust and incredible weather effects including rain whipping down on you. 3. If you want all the eye candy you need a strong system but it has 5 different graphic settings that should adjust to whatever your PC can do. The offline campaign engine is the best I have ever seen in any sim (I have been combat flight simming since the mid 1980s ). You can start any year for any squadron, fly with and against over 1000 historical aces (that's a thousand in game!). Your kills are kept track of, your squadron mates kills are kept track off. You see daily news for the day you are experiencing in the campaign, you have promotions , awards and you even have to fill out a combat report of your misison and attempt to get the kill confirmed. The OFF campaign manager is a masater piece worthy loooking into.
  19. Erroneous claim just means you are claiming two when you should only have claimed one...it has nothing to do with what you wrote. A mahcine gun on the gournd or a wingman could have taken the kill away by being the last to put a bulllet into the plane before it crashed.
  20. That is unbelievable ...
  21. Yes Time warp exsist...this is the best combat flight sim I have ever played.
  22. do you fly with labels?
  23. How about the massive offline campaign system?
  24. Combatace will be holding a contest and giving away a 22 inch flat screen monitor for best skin for OFF uploaded to the site . Stay tuned for the details , so keep working on them!
