  3. D-Day Commemoration: 74th Anniversary

COMMEMORATING THE 74TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE D-DAY LANDINGS DURING WORLD WAR II On this day (June 6), in 1944 the Allied Armed forces under the leadership of General Dwight David Eisenhower stormed the beaches of Normandy, France. The Allies comprised of a multi-national task force of mainly American, British and Canadian infantry, cavalry, airborne and seaborne units as well as the brave personnel who operated them. This day was the day the Allies began to liberate Europe from Nazi occupation. Their sacrifices and dedication to the fight against fascism and tyranny shall never be forgotten. A big salute to all of them!

  5. D-Day Commemoration: 74th Anniversary

GENERAL DWIGHT DAVID EISENHOWER'S SPEECH TO THE ALLIED EXPEDITIONARY TASK FORCE UNDER HIS COMMAND ON JUNE 6, 1944 "Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hope and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world. Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is will trained, well equipped and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely. But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory! I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory! Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking!"
  6. Well, I wish someone would kind of make a spiritual successor to Jane's USAF... Say like rebooting it as a DCS module similar to FC3 standards, as most if not all the jets (except the F-105 & F-22) exist as ( either flyable or non-flyable) models in DCS... Unfortunately Jane's combat simulations closed down long ago...And IRIS shelved their DCS F-22 module permanently... terrible But on a more positive note at least we'll get a spiritual successor to Jane's WWII Fighters; IL2: Battle of Bodenplatte.. It's got all the aircraft of Jane's WWII fighters plus three more, A similar theater of war like the Battle of the Bulge/ Ardennes offensive..
  7. Remembering D-DAY...

June 6,1944, The day the Allies made a historic amphibious landing on the beaches of Normandy, France in order to liberate Europe from Nazi occupation.... Salute and respect to all those who participated in the landings...Their sacrifice will not be forgotten...
  8. F-15 Retirement.....

What?! Weren't some F-15C airframes upgraded to 4.5th gen standards sometime around 2010 and called 'Golden Eagles' ? While I understand the Eagle may appear to be a slightly dated design... with the right avionics and upgrades it could still remain a potent adversary... I mean think about it.. the Russians have upgraded (or should i say re-designed) their Flanker and Fulcrums to 4.5 gen and 5th gen standards... and these are still potent adversaries even in the 21st century battlefields... Couldn't something similar be done to the F-15's?
  9. Chuck Berry passes away at 90.....

One of the Pioneers of Rock 'N' Roll , Chuck Berry breathed his last today at 90... Some of His popular hits included 'Johnny B. Goode', 'Maybellene', 'Too Much Monkey Business', 'Roll Over Beethoven' and Many others..... He was responsible for influencing other contemporary musicians of the time including the Beatles.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Berry
  10. Navy'lize a plane a what if?

I get what you're saying.... but aren't Marine AH-1 Cobras also Ship-based (on amphibious support ships)? and aren't the nose mounted targeting systems/Cannon also prone to saltwater corrosion? And as i mentioned earlier Navy Hueys also had Machine Guns as an integral part of their armament.... (sorry if i sound offensive but i'm just asking for clarifications so please don't think otherwise....)
  11. Navy'lize a plane a what if?

Nice conversion.... but if it had a twin wheeled nose gear it would have been more realistic.... for eg.. The F-35C Lightning II (Navy version) has a strengthened twin nose wheel landing gear for carrier ops.... unlike the A & B Models.... Although the 'B' (USMC) model operates from amphibious support ships .. there's no need for catapult launches and no need for 'hook and cable' recovery unlike regular aircraft carriers used by the Navy... Getting rid of the cannon in the second and third ones? Not a good idea.... USMC Cobras still retained their cannons... and while the Navy used Hueys as armed transports/gunships they still had MG's as an integral part of their armament..... All dedicated Attack helicopters like the Cobra, Apache, Tiger, Havoc, Mangusta, Rooivalk etc. as well as their variants have a built in autocannon
  12. Hi, Off late ive noticed that the F-16's (Viper Pack) dont seem to have an functional RWR... an Su-47 fired an AA-12 'Adder' AHM at me and my RWR didnt sound a warning tone.... and i was shot ddown as a result.. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I'm not trying to find fault but seeking help to find out what i'm doing wrong and how to rectify it. Thanks
  13. Oh? Are you saying that the SF2 Series were never designed for Acrive Radar homing Missiles by default? Ok.. but what about SF2: North Atlantic? It came with the AIM-54 Phoenix as a stock weapon.. Isn't the stock AIM-54 an active radar homing missile? Just asking for clarifications.....
  14. Ivan Mikoyan, Russian aircraft designer, nephew of designer Artem Mikoyan passed away on November 24, 2016.... He was deputy chief designer for the MiG-29 'Fulcrum'... Since no one posted anything about it, I thought I would.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Mikoyan
  15. Dear All, I seem to be experiencing loadout issues with the F-15E's (Strike Eagle Family) & F-16's especially on strike misssions. The Strike/Silent Eagles don't seem to have guided A/G weapons loaded by default when 'strike mission' is selected. The F-15SE has to be armed manually from scratch irrespective of an A/A or A/G mission. A similar issue is encountered with the F-16C/D pack on Ground attack/strike missions.... and the AA loadout of the F-16 with 2 Sidewinders on the wingtips and 4 AMRAAMS underwing don't seem to show up in the loadout screen even though the loadout entries exist on the Given .ini's Even refreshing the mod folders as Viper63 suggested in an earlier issue i faced didn't work.... Not trying to find fault but requesting assistance. Thanks...
  16. Hi Viper, I tried this suggestion out as you stated earlier For A/A missions, no problems at all with the F-15E's ( Only The Silent Eagle is the issue here).... The F-16's don't have a problem either with A/A missions.. Its only in strike & A/G missions where the problem persists.... Hi Caesar, I haven't tried it out with all sub-variants of the F-15E but as far as the Silent Eagle is concerned.. it shows up with a zero default loadout irrespective of an A/A or A/G mission.... all weapons need to be manually loaded both for my plane as well as my wingmen.... Yes that's what i keep seeing... Will check and revert....
  17. F-16: The Shattered Dream

Yeah Well... But let's face it.. The F-16 is one of the most successful air superiority fighters ever built and can carry the similar amount of ordnance as most twin-engined fighter jets...Plus in the hands of a skilled pilot it is a very potent adversary (even on the modern 21st century battlefield).... Most if not all variants of the F-16 are dedicated multi-role aircraft and can carry most if not all AA/AG weapons in the USAF/NATO inventory...And it's one of the most widely exported western fighters.......
  18. Hello All, I've been experiencing certain problems with the weapon load outs of the following aircraft namely: 1) The F-15SE Silent Eagle (from the new pack) 2) The AV-8B Harrier II+ 3) The F-22A raptor (Herberth [a.k.a CadeteBra]'s Alpha version) In the loadout screen ti have to manually load weapons on both my plane and my squadron's planes.. I checked the weapons.ini and the weapons names in the .ini match those of the weapon names in the Weapons folder in the object folder and the respective weapondata. ini files... [And may I also mention that I didn't tamper with the .ini files....] Could someone please help me out on this? Thanks a lot...
  19. Hi Viper63a, I did as you suggested, the AV-8B+ and the F-22 have no problems now and they show up with default loadouts...thanks a lot for that.. But the problem persists with the F-15SE Silent Eagle... It shows up with only 2 AIM-120s...while the loadout.ini shows has AIM-9X's as well... Although I can manually load them onto the aircraft they're not present in the real hard point by default. Could you please help me out on this ? Thanks.
  20. Hi Viper63a, Thanks for your reply ...Just saw it only today... I'll try it out and revert
  21. Hi. Thanks for the reply.. yes the load out.ini has names of the weapons that match the ones in the respective weapons folder but still blank load out... Weapons have to be loaded manually....
  22. Sad news for me.

Sorry to hear that.. .Thoughts and prayers are with you.. May God bless and heal you....
  23. F-35A reaches IOC for USAF

Dear MigBuster, I'll fully agree with you when you say that the F-35 has better A/G capability than the F-22. However the F-22 is definitely more stealthy and is arguably the most technologically advanced air superiority fighter ever designed and built. Hence the reason it is banned for export sales by the US Congress. And besides.... The F-16C+ & F-15E variants are not that old Just about 25-30 years (in contrast to the F-86 Sabre that dates back to the '50's)... and the latest variants of the F-15 & F-16 can both carry and efficiently operate most if not all the latest guided weapons and avionics with the same efficiency as most (if not all) 5th generation fighters... And when one considers combat losses and losses due to non combat mishaps/accidents: The loss of 1 F-35 may be equivalent to the loss of 2 (or more) F-15's or F-16's.. And considering climatic conditions and frequency of combat deployment (we're talking about Israel here being a hot Middle-Eastern country with frequent combat deployment of its military assets). Maintenance & operations of the latest versions of the F-35's & F-16's would be significantly lower and easier in contrast with those of F-35's..... You may correct me in case I've said anything erroneous.....
  24. F-35A reaches IOC for USAF

I think that the IDF/IAF would be far better off with their F-16's & F-15's (or rather upgraded versions of them)... they're more versatile, battle hardy, carry a similar payload (of course the F-15I has a higher payload) & cost less to maintain and can do the job at a lesser cost.... Let's face it.. both the F-16 & F-15E/I are much more versatile combat proven warplanes and still are potent adversaries in the hands of skilled pilots.. Even on the modern 21st century battlefield...
  25. Should have posted about this earlier but came across this only yesterday..... and I didn't notice any posts about it here at CA...hence the reason for posting... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roscoe_Brown Apparently, he had shot down an Me262 & an FW190 during his wartime service..... Anyway he was 94 when he passed away and had quite an illustrious career both as a military aviator as well as a civilian.....
