Well it has been a LONG while since a enemy fish has been in the water and we have not lost a sailor to a mine in a while, the most credible threat would be a replay of the Cole incident but since then the Navy has made great strides to provide safety to its ships while in brown water.

Well, as a combat vet, It would do you good to know what kind of job you would like to do, or what kind of job you would like to be taught to do. in the Army there is combat MOS's and combat support MOS's some jobs are farther away from the action than others but there is still a risk. I come from a LONG line of military people, from old uncles in the 'Red ball express' to Mom and dad in Viet Nam to my brother in the USAF and a sister in the Navy to life long friends in the Marines, If you want to kinda stay out of harms way pick a highly technical job in the Navy that way you can be a board a capital ship and not have to worry too much. anything else will increase your exposure to harm.

rgr that, I fly the f-4 a lot and when i encounter migs i just take them into the verticle and with my stronger engines they cant stay with me. once they start to fall back i just nose over and let them have it!

A whole lot of that takes place lol! The best thing is that i can really see the smoke trail in time to out turn it, the worst is those night missions no smoke trail until you are RIGHT close to it and it is ALL BAD from that point!!

ok then after the chaff is gone there are MANY more sams and they do not follow me down into the weeds to escape, they just stay at the same altitude and get hit. so, i just tell them to engage ground targets as i continue to jink at VERY low levels til the sams site loses lock or til i get to the target to remove it from the face of the planet.

I was leading a flight of 12 the 1st time, then a flight of 8 right off the bat 2 get hit by sams. another question is why don't they take some kind of evasive actions? when my sam warning tells me that im a target i turn my ac into rubber trying to find the sam to out turn it, but ,the squad just stays at altitude and takes their chances ,

I'm back with yet another question (2 parter) I would like to know what is the most/best effective jamming device against sams and when I place these devices on wingmen ac's do the use them? I'm flying Linebacker II (F-4) and had ALL the squad fitted with said devices and still lost two ac's to sams. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated! Viper6 Out!

Agreed, I own LOMAC and just to get off the ground is a check list and to get either type of Maverick to lock on to and fire is wayyy too much button sequencing and knowing aspect angles and other crap. Way too much practice involved! Now I did save all my wooden dimes to get a system that is very good and is up-gradeable, so playing any sim is not a problem, I just enjoy being able to mud move without having to go to actual flight school.

This might help, turn your radar off air to ground so it wont have to track all those ground objects, you can still find targets of importance by cycleling thru back or forward with the "E" button or however you have set to cycle forward and back.

I do NOT find that amusing We do NOT have to 'ask' higher ups to eliminate any enemy threats the brave souls that gave their lives in the MOG do not find that amusing, I had two life long friends who joined the corps when i joined the army in '80 they died in '83 in beruit while i was in grenada. When I ETS'ed in '94 due to injuries that is when i found out that my friends in the corps and my brother who was in the USAF were dead add that to the young Rangers I lost in the MOG does not make for a kind or happy man. Since you have NEVER served or shed blood, the above mentioned 'tactics' are NEVER amusing. Happy B-day to all my Corps snipers and Force Recon friends!
