  1. [Fictional] General Dynamics Falcon FG.3

General Dynamics Falcon FG.3 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the Viper Team's superb two-seat F-16D to give a fictional Falcon FG.3 with markings for No.41 and No.54 squadrons of the Royal Air Force.
Please note that the 3D model does have a minor shadow issue and whilst shadows can easily be turned off I've chosen to leave them on... so just fly the damn thing!
    [Shadow]
    CastShadow=TRUE               <<<<< Change to FALSE

  3. [Fictional] McDonnell Voodoo FAW.4 - RAF

McDonnell Voodoo FAW.4 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of erikgen's superb McDonnell F-101B Voodoo to give a fictional Voodoo FAW.4 in the markings for the famous 'Treble One' Squadron of the Royal Air Force during the 1960's. This revised upload now adds a second skin (No.74 Squadron) and a nifty fixed in-flight refuelling probe.

    BACKSTORY
Delays in the English Electric Lightning programme and the rather pedestrian performance of the Gloster Javelin encouraged the McDonnell Aircraft Company to offer various versions of their outstanding Voodoo aircraft to the RAF initially with the F.1 single-seater and FAW.2 two-seater for RAF Fighter Command and followed by the FR.3 single-seater reconnaisance aircraft for RAF Germany and the improved FAW.4 two-seater for Fighter Command. Entering service in 1961 the Voodoo FAW.4 served with three squadrons of RAF Fighter Command and supplemented the earlier FAW.2's in the air defence role. Normally armed with two De Havilland Skystorm radar-guided missiles and two Fairey Firestorm infra-red heat-seeking missiles the Voodoo FAW.4's were a quantum leap in performance over the Gloster Javelin and remained a popular type in RAF service right up until their retirement in 1981.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the VoodooFAW4 folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the VoodooFAW4 folder into your Decals folder.
    3. From the PILOTS folder drag and drop the VoodooIFR folder into your pilots folder (this is the IFR probe so is optional).
    4. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the AIM-4K, Skystorm and VoodooFAW4_Tank folders to your Weapons folder.
    That's it!

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Special thanks to the legend that is erikgen for producing the Voodoo in all its variants and to Column5 for the FM.
Special thanks also to yakarov79 for making the IFR probe for me.
Thanks also to the creators of the Genie and Falcon missiles that I've tweaked and rebadged (just for a giggle).
And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

  4. [Fictional] Northrop/McDonnell Douglas F-23J 'Tora'

    Northrop/McDonnell Douglas F-23J for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of Dels' excellent F-23A 'Black Widow' to give a fictional F-23J 'Tora' (Tiger) of the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force with markings for the 302nd Hikotai in a retro 'Zero' scheme (suggested by Canadair).

    BACKSTORY
(This backstory was for my Israeli F-23 but explains why the Black Widow ended up in the land of the Rising Sun).
With the success of the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom and F-15 Eagle in Heyl HaAvir service the Israeli's were hoping that the Northrop/McDonnell Douglas F-23A 'Black Widow' would win the USAF's ATF competition to continue their relationship with the McDonnell team at St. Louis but unfortunately Lockheed Martin's victory in the ATF competition looked like bringing an end to a long and enduring partnership.
However in a brave move, in May 1991 the Northrop/McDonnell Douglas team secured permission from Congress to actively market the F-23 to (State Department) 'approved' nations and offered a single-seat multi-role
version called the F-23I (International) to Germany, Japan, Israel and the UK. With Germany looking for any excuse to get out of the Eurofighter consortium and facing high reunification costs they persuaded the UK to team up in a combined purchase of 200 F-23I's. In return, this led to the German and UK Governments persuading Northrop/McDonnell Douglas to make BAe and MBB prime sub-contractors for any further export sales.
However, with only 200 F-23I's on order Northrop/McDonnell Douglas were not convinced that it was enough to start a viable programme but the breakthrough came in January 1994 when, due to increasing tensions on the Korean Peninsula, the USAF agreed to purchase 100 F-23A's for PACAF (the air component of United States Pacific Command) and this move finally saw Japan and Israel also join the programme with 100 F-23I's each.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-23J folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-23J folder into your Decals folder.
    That's it!

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Massive thanks to Dels for this superb add-on aircraft - one of the very best.
Special thanks to Canadair for suggesting the retro Zero style F-23J.

  5. [Fictional] Republic F-7S Thunderstorm

Republic F-7S Thunderstorm for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the stock MiG-23P to give a fictional Republic F-7S Thunderstorm in service with the Aeronautica Militare during the 1970-2005 timeline and includes the famous 'Devil' markings of 6 Stormo (154 Gruppo).
You'll need to have SF2E for the Mig-23P LOD's (not included) and the pit from the F-105D_66 is used to get you flying.  Radar and avionics are not my thing so forgive me if I've overlooked something but I like to make my mods nice and simple, just like me.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-7S folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-7S folder into your Decals folder.

  7. [Fictional] BAC Thunderstrike S.1 (TSR.2)

BAC Thunderstrike S.1 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
    This is a simple mod of bongodriver's outstanding BAC TSR.2 to give a fictional Thunderstrike S.1 strike aircraft in service with the RAF during the 1968 to 1980 timeline. Three RAF squadrons are covered and all with toned-down (pale) markings;
    No.100 Squadron.
    No.139 (Jamaica) Squadron.
No.617 Squadron - The famous 'Dambusters'.

    BACKSTORY
In the House of Commons on April 6th 1965, when Chancellor James Callaghan stood to deliver his budget day speech most of the British aviation industry were prepared for the worst but nothing about the TSR.2 was mentioned and a collective sigh of relief was heard. On April 9th, Prime Minister Wilson made an unannounced visit to BAC Warton and, after raised voices were heard coming from the boardroom, Wilson was given a tour of the TSR.2 front office by an enthusiastic and passionate Roland Beaumont. Playing to the assembled crowd of BAC workers and the Press corps, Wilson announced that whilst some economies were needed this important aircraft was "an amazing example of British engineering and will form the backbone of a modern Royal Air Force" adding that a production order for 30 examples would be immediately placed plus another four pre-production aircraft. Astounded BAC officials looked at each in disbelief, swallowed hard and smiled for the cameras.
In the months that followed, everything seemed to fall into place. The undercarriage retraction problems disappeared, the new Olympus 321 engines ran faultlessly both at Filton (and soon after in the newly flown XR222) whilst various highly classified black boxes arrived at Warton, were fitted and worked like a charm. Testing continued into 1966 and on April 6th, 1966 Mary Wilson (the wife of Prime Minister, Harold Wilson) smashed a bottle of champagne across the nose of XR225 in a naming ceremony christening the aircraft 'Thunderstrike'. In August 1966, the Air Ministry announced that to ease the aircraft into squadron service a Thunderstrike Test and Evaluation Squadron (TTES) would be formed during 1967 at RAF Coningsby operating the last four prototypes (XR223 to XR226) and the four pre-production aircraft (XR556 to XR559).
During the Spring of 1967 the excellent results coming from the Thunderstrike Test and Evaluation Squadron allowed the RAF to begin to plan the introduction into service of the BAC Thunderstrike S.1 and it was hoped
to initially re-equip No.617 'Dambuster' squadron at RAF Scampton first and hopefully by April 1st, 1968 (the RAF's 50th birthbday). However, during August 1967 the RAF top brass became aware of the onset of fatigue
problems with the two Victor B.2 squadrons at RAF Wittering and, fearful of another Valiant style mass grounding, it was decided to move the Victor B.2's away from the arduous low-level role as a matter of urgency and re-equip them with the Thunderstrike.
Deliveries to No.100 and No.139 squadrons commenced in February 1968 but by April 1st only seven aircraft had been received and these early production machines had varying standards of both engines and nav/attack
systems but the photo-shoot held on April 1st at least gave the impression that the aircraft had entered service but it was not until February 1969 that both squadrons were declared operational and available to NATO Sacuer.
By this time, No.617 squadron at Scampton had also began to re-equip with the Thunderstrike S.1 and had moved to Wittering at the end of March 1969. During April 1969 all three squadrons took part in Exercise Clansman, a
NATO exercise based on mock-attacks on several Scottish hydro-electric facilities, with all three squadrons returning exceptionally high scores for serviceability, penetration and bombing accuracy.
Following this solid entry into service the Thunderstrike programme never looked back with orders placed for 60 Thunderstrike S.2's for RAF Germany plus 90 S.3's for RAF Strike Command as Vulcan replacements and a hugely
successful export campaign saw the aircraft sold to Australia, Canada, India, Italy, Saudi Arabia and West Germany.
    Nurse, my medicene please.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the ThunderstrikeS1 folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the ThunderstrikeS1 folder into your main Decals folder.
    3. From the EFFECTS folder move the three 'Olympus' files into your Effects folder.
    4. From the PILOTS folder move the TSRSeat folder into your Pilots folder.
    5. From the SOUNDS folder move the two 'Oly' files into your Sounds folder.
    6.  From the WEAPONS folder move the AS-30 folder into your Weapons folder.

    COCKPIT
Please note that this mod uses a slightly modified stock Phantom pit with the pilot position altered and the air-to-air modes disabled. Cockpits and Avionics are not my thing so I'm open minded to any suggestions
for improvements but please note that I do like to make my mods as simple as possible so rivet counters need not apply.

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Massive thanks to bongodriver for bringing the TSR.2 to the Third Wire Community. Genius! It's impossible to improve on his outstanding TSR.2 add-on so this version is just a different flavour.
Equally massive thanks to sundowner for the awesome skins on this version and, indeed, on all the TSR.2's plus his developed versions... check them out!
And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

  8. [Fictional] Saab-Fairchild F-13A Draken USAF

    Saab-Fairchild F-13A Draken for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
    This is a very fictional 'what if' Saab-Fairchild F-13A Draken in USAF service and with markings for the following;
    1. 125th FW Florida ANG
    2. 177th FW New Jersey ANG
    3. 4451st TS Tonopah Test Range, Nevada
I've used the excellent Draken J35D 'David' from the Draken pack uploaded at CombatACE by lindr2 to create this 'what if' USAF Draken but heartily recommend the Draken pack which has no less than 8 Drakens and is a superb effort by all concerned.
In this update I've removed the grey skin and added a black skin for the 4451st TS at Tonopah. I've also added 'extra' pylons so as to be able to have date specific loadouts and also allow for selectable silver and black drop tanks with the black drop tanks a better match for the all black 4451st TS skin from 1982 onwards. For the F-13A's early service years of 1967 to 1968 you'll be limited to AIM-4D Falcons in the default loadouts... good luck with those!

    BACKSTORY
During mid-1965 with attrition rates rising as the Vietnam conflict progressed (sic) the USAF's plans for re-equipping the ADC and ANG interceptor squadrons with F-4C's fell apart. Undaunted they launched a quick study into an off-the-shelf purchase of an alternative interceptor looking at the BAC Lightning, the Dassault Mirage IIIC, the Saab Draken J35F and the homegrown Lockheed Starfighter 'ADC' (an F-104G optimised for air-defense duties). With some considerable weighting given to low cost in the detailed analysis the Saab Draken soon became the front-runner being the only aircraft with a fly-away price below $1M but, in fact, the USAF study team scored the Draken highly in most areas.
In July 1966 the USAF announced that Saab's outstanding J35F was the winner of the competition and that Fairchild, who had recently taken over Republic Aviation, were to partner Saab in producing the aircraft by now redesignated F-13 (despite objections from Fairchild to the 'unlucky' number although Saab didn't seem too bothered). Entering service with the Florida Air National Guard in March 1967 the F-13 was initially viewed as the poor relation by the F-106 squadrons, a situation that soon changed with the success of the F-13 in the 1970 William Tell competition. F-13's served until the mid-1980's when they were generally replaced by F-16A's although one squadron remained in service until 1990 at the Tonopah Test Range in Nevada in a ruse designed to mask operations of the F-117 Stealth Fighter.
During the flight-testing and the early service years of the F-117A 'Nighthawk' the F-13A Draken was used as a surrogate aircraft to maintain pilot proficiency and to provide part of an eloborate cover story for the existence of the 4450th Tactical Group. Whilst in no way similar to the shape of the F-117A the rakish lines of the Draken did have an unusual planform and was therefore chosen as the 'cover' aircraft for the specially created 4451st Tactical Squadron based at Tonopah. It is believed that 18 F-13A's were given a modest refurbishment to extend their operational lives and initially wore a two-tone grey scheme to give them more of an operational 'front-line' appearance. F-13A's entered service with the 4451st TS at Nellis AFB in May 1981 and wore 'LV' tailcodes due to their proximity to Las Vegas. From about 1983 at least half of the F-13A's were re-painted matt black and operated from Tonopah at times of day to to coincide with the F-117A test programme and it became a deliberate policy to park some of the matt black F-13A's out in the open so as to give the impression that Tonopah was simply a normal operational F-13A base. At least four derelict ex-Florida ANG F-13A's arrived by low-loader and were given an overall coat of matt black paint to help maintain this impression.

The F-13A's were extremely popular with the pilots of the 4451st TS and were often used as 'Red' assets in Red Flag exercises and even made the occasional guest appearance in 'Constant Peg' operations when MiG's became unserviceable or simply to provide dissimilar bogeys. As the F-117A gradually moved from 'black' to 'grey' towards the end of the 1980's the 4451st TS's F-13A operations slowly dwindled and the unit was disbanded on April 30th, 1990.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-13A_Draken folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-13A_Draken folder into your main Decals folder.
    3. From the SOUNDS folder drag and drop both 'Avon' files into your SOUNDS folder.
    4. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop both folders into your main WEAPONS folder.
    That's it!

  10. [Fictional] North American F-109A Retaliator

North American F-109A 'Retaliator' for Strike Fighters 2
    This is a simple mod of Julhelm's superb North American A-5A Vigilante to make a fictional 'Retaliator' interceptor-fighter in service with the USAF in the 1964 to 1988 timeline. There was actually several North American proposals for 'fighter' Vigilantes offered to the USN and to the USAF and it's a pity that the enormous potential of this amazing aircraft was never fully realised. Anyway, 'what if' markings are enclosed for three ANG squadrons;
    1. 101st Fighter Interceptor Squadron - Massachusetts ANG
    2. 159th Fighter Interceptor Squadron - Florida ANG
    3. 186th Fighter Interceptor Squadron - Montana ANG

    BACKSTORY
Development of the North American A3J-1 Vigilante progressed well during the late 1950's and the first flight of the YA3J-1 prototype in August 1958 revealed it to be a real thoroughbred, packed from nose to tail with outstanding technology. However, a strong faction against the Vigilante was forming within the USN arguing that strategic bombing was not part of the USN's business and North American decided not to assume that large orders for the 'basic' A3J-1 would follow and they began to look at other roles for the Vigilante.
One line of development would eventually lead to the reconnaissance Vigilante (RA-5C) but another line of development transformed the A3J-1 into various fleet defender and ADC fighter options. Fortunately, the wing of the A3J-1 was designed for zero wind over deck launches and this resulted in a wing too large for low-level attack missions but ideal for a fighter. During early 1959 North American offered a long-range fighter version to the USN and USAF but had only a lukewarm response. However, following the cancellation of their F-108 Rapier in September 1959 things now became a bit more urgent for North American and they schemed a revised A3J-1 Fighter with uprated J79 engines and semi-recessed Sparrow missiles.
Trying again in 1960 they received a firm no from the USN (who by then knew they had a winner in the F4H-1 Phantom II) but the USAF agreed to a detailed analysis of an optimsed land-based interceptor fighter (named Retaliator in May 1960) and in June 1960 they announced that the Retaliator was to be ordered as an immediate follow-on to the F-106 programme with 350 ordered although this figure was later reduced to 240.
The prototype YF-109 flew on April 30th 1962 and production F-109A's entered service in late 1964 with the 5th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Minot AFB, North Dakota. The only export order was from Canada who ordered 60 in 1968 and these entered service with No.409 squadron in 1969 remaining in service until 1990.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-109A folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-109A folder into your Decals folder.
    3. From the PILOTS folder drag and drop the F-109A_FuelPod into your Pilots folder.
    That's it!

    NOTES
Julhelm's Vigilante comes with an authentic Vigilante pit so rather than just slap a Phantom pit into this bird I've used his pit and just tweaked the ini's for the interceptor-fighter role. I'm not the greatest on avionics but it works!
In this revised upload I've chosen to include the Fuel Pod as a pilot (in the same way that we add a Fake Pilot) as I'd noticed my wingmen were jettisoning it when the action started even when adding NoJettisonTank=TRUE. I've also added AIM-9 Sidewinder's to the Retaliator's inner wing pylons.
This aircraft needs/deserves a gun but I've resisted the temptation. However, you can add one if you like and the space from the redundant linear bomb bay could easily accommodate a neat M61 installation slap-bang on the centreline.

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.

  11. [Fictional] McDonnell Douglas F-4E 'ADC' USAF

McDonnell Douglas Phantom F-4E 'ADC' for Strike Fighters 2
    This is a simple mod of the stock F-4E_72 to make a fictional interceptor version of the Phantom for service with the USAF in the 1973 to 1998 timeline. 'What if' markings for four ANG squadrons are included;
    1. 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron - Texas ANG
    2. 119th Fighter Interceptor Squadron - New Jersey ANG
    3. 186th Fighter Interceptor Squadron - Montana ANG
    4. 198th Fighter Interceptor Squadron - Puerto Rico ANG

    BACKSTORY
During early 1970 a USAF review of America's air defence assets highlighted the increasing obsolescence of several aircraft including the F-101, F-102 and F-104 and whilst early F-4C Phantoms were trickling down to the ANG units McDonnell Douglas could see an opportunity to sell an optimised 'Air Defense' version of the F-4E to the USAF to swiftly and cost-effectively modernise a large proportion of Aerespace Defense Command. During this time McDonnell Douglas had studied various single-seat or stripped-down versions of the F-4 for the German Air Force but for the USAF they proposed a version of the slatted F-4E with all air-to-ground capability removed, slightly more powerful 'clean burn' J79 engines, simplified air-to-air only radar and the new solid-state AIM-7F Sparrow missile offering longer range with its two-stage rocket motor.
By this time the massive production run of the F-4 had meant that the fly-away unit cost for this simplified version of the F-4E made it one of the cheapest Phantoms ever and such was the confidence that the USAF had in McDonnell Douglas that in March 1971 they simply asked for a fixed-price quotation for 300 F-4E 'ADC' aircraft and ordered them in April 1971! First flown in June 1972 the F-4E 'ADC' were delivered in a smart and glossy 'air defense' grey scheme and entered service with  the 198th Fighter Interceptor Squadron of the Puerto Rico ANG in February 1973 replacing the F-104C's and F-104D's of that unit. Sadly, eight of the 198th's Phantoms were destroyed in a terrorist attack at Muniz ANGB in January 1981 and the unit operated several 'standard' F-4E's until 'ADC' versions could be allocated to them.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-4E_ADC folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-4E_ADC folder into your Decals folder.
    That's it!

  12. [Fictional] Westland Whirlwind FB.2

Westland Whirlwind FB.2 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a very simple mod of the prolific Veltro2K's Whirlwind to give a fictional Whirldwind FB.2 in service with No.6 Squadron (the famous 'Flying Can-Openers') of the RAF's Desert Air Force. This mod is meant for SF2 and, ideally, you'll have Expansion Pack 1 for the stock 250lb bombs. More experienced WW2 modders will have access to more correct bombs but I just wanted this to be as simple as possible to install. This is an older 3D model that has a few problems that will not get fixed now so it's all released 'as is'. One possible problem that could be fixed by the community here is what sounds like the undercarriage collapsing when working up to rotation speed but this rarely affects your ability to complete the mission. I've played around with it and copied other aircraft's landing gear for ideas but I can't fix it.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the WhirlwindFB2 folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the WhirlwindFB2 folder into your Decals folder.
That's it! But you may need to add a suitable WW2 Pilot (not supplied).

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Special thanks to Veltro2K for all of his delightfully esoteric aircraft, this is just one of many! Check them out!
Thanks also to Syrinx for the Whirlwind template which I lost back in 2016 when I suffered a complete data loss : (
And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

  13. [Fictional] AMD/BAC Taranis FGA.1

    AMD/BAC Taranis FGA.1 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the stock Third Wire Kfir C1 to give a fictional AMD/BAC Taranis FGA.1 fighter-bomber with markings for No.1, No.6 and No.54 squadrons of the Royal Air Force in the late
    1960's and 1970's.
    BACKSTORY
The RAF's search for a Hunter replacement took many twists and turns but by 1962 the focus had come back to a more basic and austere fighter-bomber but still with supersonic performance.
Dassault had previously proposed the promising Avon-Mirage (first flown in February 1961) to the RAF and had also unsuccessfully offered it to both Australia and Switzerland but by 1963 Rolls-Royce and SNECMA were offering their outstanding Sequanna turbofan to Dassault with the potential for 12,000lbs of dry thrust and 18,000lbs with reheat.
However it was not until the cancellation of the TSR.2 in April 1965 that BAC and Dassault could formally combine to offer a version of the Mirage IV delta-winged bomber to the RAF and also the
proposed Mirage 'Angleterre' fighter-bomber, both powered by the Sequanna and both immediately accepted by the UK Labour government with a formal order issued in 1965. BAC's involvement was
clearly politcal (and initially confined to the production of the UK versions of both aircraft) the BAC Warton team threw themselves into both projects being just grateful to actually have something
on the assembly line after the Lightning.
Whilst based on the proposed Mirage V (to meet an Israeli requirement for a simplied Mirage III) the Sequanna powered version of the Mirage required slightly larger intakes and also an additional air
inlet installed at the base of the vertical stabilizer for additional cooling air needed for the SNECMA designed afterburner. In June 1965 the 'Taranis' name was bestowed upon the aircraft and development moved swiftly during 1965 and 1966 culminating with René Bigand flying the first prototype from Istres in early December 1966 whilst the second prototype flew from Warton in the following March flown by Roland Beamont.
The Taranis entered service with EC 1/2 'Cigognes' Armée de l'Air in August 1968 and with No.1 Squadron of the Royal Air Force in January 1969.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the TARANIS_FGA1 folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the TARANIS_FGA1 folder into your Decals folder.
    That's it!

  14. Parani Skin for the J-20 Chinese Stealth Fighter

Uploaded as a request by my mate Canadair, this is a simple mod of the skin that comes with the superb J-20 Chinese Stealth Fighter recently released by 'The Insky Group'. All I've done is toned down the white walkway markings and added Parani decals. I think you'll need WOI for the stock 'ARABIC3WHITE' decals. Hopefully, I've got the decal pathway correct, forgive me if I haven't but I don't normally upload skins and I'm a stranger over here in the SF1 section.

Well done to The Insky Group. More please!

  15. [Fictional] Tu-16 'Badger A' Fuerza Aérea Argentina

    Tupolev Tu-16 'Badger-A' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a very simple mod of the stock AI Third Wire Tu-16 to give a flyable (and fictional) Tu-16 in service with the Fuerza Aérea Argentina with markings for Grupo 1 (grey) and Grupo 2 (silver) in the 1960's to early 1980's era.

    COCKPIT
There is not really a totally suitable pit for this aircraft so I've decided not to include one but you will be sat in the right place (offset to port) and you will have a gun sight and a ground mapping radar.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Tu-16_FAA folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Tu-16_FAA folder into your Decals folder.
    That's it!

    FLYING THE BADGER
It's so easy to scrape the tail when taking off so let the Badger 'auto take-off' by setting flaps and full power, release the brakes and the nose will lift at 260kmh and it will lift off the runway soon after. I've had good results by releasing my bombs at 10km away from the target whilst at 6,000m altitude but the Badger will happily cruise at 9,000m and at that height you should release your bombs at about 12km away from the target or just a bit more. Remember that the Badger has a fixed forward-firing 23mm cannon so if your bombs miss the fuel tank then get down nice and low and take it out that way!
To help you land the Badger I've added fake airbrakes which will slow you down enough so it's just a matter of lining up the runway from a fair old distance and making a nice 'greaser' of a landing. It does sometimes help to push the stick forward to overcome the bounciness of the landing gear.

  16. [Fictional] Ilyushin IL-28 'Beagle' Fuerza Aérea Argentina

Ilyushin IL-28 'Beagle' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
    This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire IL-28 to give a flyable (and fictional) IL-28 in service with the Fuerza Aérea Argentina  with markings for;
Grupo 1 de Bombardeo in the silver scheme as delivered.
Grupo 2 de Bombardeo in the later 'sea grey' scheme selected for 'over-water' operations.
I've put a patch.psd 'template' in there in case you'd like to switch things around and have both in silver or both in grey.

    COCKPIT
I've used the A-4B pit as I think the cockpit framing looks quite suitable and the pit is nice and low-tech. The disadvantages are that there is no radar (not that the Beagle's radar was of much use) and that the A-4B pit is, of course, single-enginned. However, you can easily switch to another stock pit or go third-party.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the IL-28_FAA folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the IL-28_FAA folder into your Decals folder.
    3. From the PILOTS folder drag and drop the PILOT_COAN folder into your Pilots folder.
    That's it!

  18. [Fictional] Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19S 'Ilmavoimat'

    Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19S for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire MiG-19S to give a fictional MiG-19S as it might have appeared in service with the Finnish Air Force at various stages in it's career between 1961 and 1981.
    Fictional markings are included for;
HävLLv 11 (Fighter Squadron 11) in the 'as delivered' natural metal finish.
HävLLv 21 (Fighter Squadron 21) in the later medium sea grey scheme.
HävLLv 31 (Fighter Squadron 31) in an experimental two-tone 'aggressor' scheme.

Grumman A-6A(FN) Intruder for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire A-6A to give a fictional A-6A(FN) as it might have appeared in service with the French Naval Air Arm (Aéronavale) in the 1960's to 1970's period with markings for 12 Flottille and 17 Flottille.
You will need to have SF2:V for the A-6A LOD's which are not included here.

  20. [Fictional] Hawker Harrier Mk.51 - Fuerza Aérea del Perú

Hawker Harrier Mk.51 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire Harrier GR.1 to give a fictional Harrier Mk.51 as it might have appeared when in service with the Fuerza Aérea del Perú. Fictional markings are included for Escuadrón Aéreo 112 and Escuadrón Aéreo 113.
You will need to have SF2:E for the Harrier LOD's which are not included. For the record, this mod uses a little bit (more) artistic licence from me in so much that Fuerza Aérea del Perú aircraft normally only have a roundel on the port upper wing but I've applied it to both wings upper and lower.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Harrier51 folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Harrier51 folder into your Decals folder.

This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire Sukhoi Su-7BMK to give a fictional Supermarine Syrena FGA.3 fighter-bomber with markings for No.6 and No.54 squadrons of the Royal Air Force both in a 'Desert Storm' style scheme.
You'll need to have the Su-7BMK for the LOD's (not included) and also the F-105D from SF2:E for the pit although you can, of course, easily use another suitable stock pit.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the SyrenaFGA3 folder into your Aircraft folder.

This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire Sukhoi Su-7B to give a fictional Supermarine Syrena F.1 interceptor-fighter with markings for No.111 'Treble-One' squadron and No.145 squadron of the Royal Air Force in a typical 1960's Fighter Command scheme.
You'll need to have the Su-7B for the LOD's (not included) and also the F-105D from SF2:E for the pit although you can, of course, easily use another suitable stock pit.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Harrier59 folder into your Decals folder.

Massive thanks to wpnssgt for the 3D model. Having only joined this community in early 2008 I'm guessing that this predates the Harrier contained in Wings Over Europe and, if so, then fair play - it's a beaut! As I've said before, "there's gold in them thar archives"!

  25. [Fictional] McDonnell Douglas F-4B Phantom 'COAN'

McDonnell Douglas F-4B 'COAN' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

    This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-4B_67 to give a fictional Phantom F-4B 'COAN' as it might have appeared in service with the Comando de Aviación Naval Argentina and includes fictional markings for;

1st Escuadrilla Aeronaval de Caza y Ataque (1st Fighter/Attack Squadron).

3rd Escuadrilla Aeronaval de Caza y Ataque (3rd Fighter/Attack Squadron).

This little update introduces folderised decals, a new Pilot figure and a modern Argentinian aircraft carrier which looks suspiciously like the CVA-63 Kittyhawk to me. This carrier is optional and you should really only use it if you have Strike Fighters:North Atlantic.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-4B_COAN folder into your Aircraft folder.

    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-4B_COAN folder into your Decals folder.

    3. From the GROUND OBJECTS folder drag and drop the BernardinoRivadavia folder into your Ground Objects folder.*

    4. From the PILOTS folder drag and drop the PILOT_COAN into your Pilots folder.

    5. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the AM39 folder into your Weapons folder.

    * You'll really need to add 'ArgentineNavy' to the limited nations section of the ICELANDNA_NATIONS data.ini (which you'll need to extract). Doing this yourself will allow you to align the Argentine Navy to a 'colour' of your choice.
