About This File

Republic F-84K Thunderstreak FB.4 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2:EUROPE

This is a simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-84F to give a fictional F-84K Thunderstreak FB.4 with markings for the following squadrons;

No.145 Squadron, Royal Air Force.

No.600 'City of London' Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force.

No.601 'County of London' Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force.

No.602 'City of Glasgow' Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force.

No.603 'City of Edinburgh' Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force.

All squadrons have typically colourful post-war markings and also have coloured air intakes but a 'blank' nose bitmap (just rename it) is included in the No.145 squadron folder if you'd like to revert to plain silver.

The delays in both the Hunter and Swift programmes saw the RAF adopt the swept-wing Thunderstreak in several versions culminating with the superb Avon-enginned FB.4 that served with several squadrons of RAF Fighter Command and RAF Germany. Powered by the non-afterburning Avon Mk.202 rated at 10,000lbs thrust, the Thunderstreak FB.4 was no match for a Sabre or a Hunter (assuming the latter's guns could actually fire) but was a tough and popular tactical fighter that remained in frontline service until 1963 when No.145 squadron exchanged their FB.4's for Thunderchiefs.

1. Drop the Thunderstreak_FB4 folder into your Aircraft folder.

2. Sprinkle the contents of the Decals folder into your main Decals folder.

BIG THANKS to TK for the continuous improvement of a great little game/sim.

And thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.
