  2. View File F-113A Retaliator F-113A Retaliator (What if) v1.1 ***************************************************** This mod is made for SF2NA. It based on Julhelms RA-5C Vigilante. ---------------------------------------------------------- I. History In 1960 the North American company decided to develope a fighter version of the A-5 Vigilante attack plane. The project got the designation NR-349 Retaliator. The NR-349 Retaliator was North American's proposal for a high-performance fighter aircraft for the US military as a variant of the A-5 with three engines. A third General Electric J79 was in the shaft between the other two engines with two narrow air inlets offset backwards above the inlets of the other engines. The aircraft was to be armed with six AIM-54 Phoenix at sub-fuselage stations. The US Air Force was not interested in, but the US Navy. The Retaliator should act as fleet defender, to intercept incoming long range bombers before they could fire their missiles on US carriers. The US Navy demanded to replace the third engine by an increased internal fuel capacity. Four prototypes where built and the decission was made to reduce the number of Phoenix missiles. So the F-113A Retaliator came into serial production in 1965. 1966 the first units of the uS Navy got the new fighter plane. The Retaliator was used for more than 10 years. Then it was replaced by the F-14A Tomcat. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- II. 3. AirOffensive[xxx] lines defines the targettypes of groundobjects in a terrain which will be attacked (mission selection) The targettypes you find in the types.ini of the terrain. If you open the _types.ini file you find in each entry a line like this: TargetType=Warehouse
  4. The terrains which are made by TerrainEditor are only 60% (or so) of the real size. To make a real 100% scale terrain you must do a little bit more.

  7. East German Army in action

The "Wehrmacht-Style" of the uniforms was an invention of the soviets. When the first military organisation was build up in the early 1950th in East Germany, the uniforms were influenced by the Red Army Style. When the NVA was foundet in 1956 the soviet advisers prefered a more german style of the uniforms. So the uniforms got the typical german style. Only the color was changed from green to stone grey. The new helmet was the Wehrmachtshelm Typ 1944. It was simply renamed to Stahlhelm 1956. The reason for it was, that the soviets had the so called Stalinplan. Their intention it was to create a independend and united Germany which had to be neutral and mostly disarmed. (The same what happend with Austria in 1955.) So a belt of neutral stated would be between the soviet sphere of influence in Europe and the american sphere of influence, starting with Finnland and Sweden, then Germany and Austria and in the south Yugoslavia. so a direct confrontation would have been avoided. BTW. topic: steel helmet. When i visited the museum Wehrtechnische Sammlungen Koblenz (the Bundeswehrmuseum) they had had a collection of all steel helmets which were used in Europe. Interestingly only two helmest got good grades. It were the swedish helmet and the Stahlhelm 1956. The soviet helmet, the british helmet and the US helmet got very bad grading, and this by westgermans. The swedish and east german helmets were light and gave the best protection for the soldiers. Of course the new generation of Keflar helmets are even better. But if you look to the american helmet of today: the shape of this helmet is Wehrmacht-Style.

I think you are wrong. Military in germany (east and west) was duty, not volunteer. It was compulsory military service. And in all armies with compulsory military service the recruts think "What the fuck we are doing here!" This has nothing to do with east or west. In east germany the military education started already in the school. The aim was not to learn "how to bring the glorious communism to the poor and suppressed crowds in the west". The aim was to learn how to defend the country. It was easy to believe to be on the right side. They had only to show us the pictures of the devastations in Vietnam. Then they had shown us the ruins of Dresden (some where still there in the 1980th). And they told us, that american bomber planes and missiles are aiming on us. During my military time i have seen a education film with the title "Das ist der Feind!" (Thats the enemy!) It was a film which showed the drill of recruits of the US Marines Corps. No comment, no word. Only the sequences how the recruits were drilled, brainwashed, humilated. Then the film showed what the Marines had done in Vietnam. They showed the war crimes made by USA. And only short before the movie ended the words came: "This is the enemy! A bunch of merciless killers!" This film is not available at YOUTUBE or any other platform.
  9. You should check, wheter you have the line: TargetType=Air_And_GROUND in the data.ini of the boat
  10. F-15EX first flight

The F-22 is a fighter, the F-15E can act in air to air and air to ground role. Its a big advantage. For the most parts of the world the Eagle is enough to fight down any opponent, while the Raptor would be only an expensive overkill. Or to say it with the words of one of my professors: "You dont need the high potentials, you need the right potentials!"
  11. AN-22, the biggest prop transporter

Thats true. It are the same engines as in Tu-95, Tu-20 or Tu-114
  12. Just started models again after 20 yrs or so

Revell PzKw III versions J, L, M and (fiction) P in colors of the Afrikakorps. Scale 1:72
  13. Funny. Screenshots: A british airfield during bomb raid.
  14. I have some problems with the campaign. The RAF is fought down. No resistance in the air anymore. But the ground forces does not make the last step, to conquer the british home base, to win the campaign. So i'm working on finetuning and testing. Again and again. Its boring.
  15. Yes, he had such a plane. It was a field modification. The ground crews took the wing guns from a Me-109E and put them in Gallands 109F. Messerschmitt was not amused. Later Galland has flown FW-190, but he prefered the 109.
  16. English Wiki is wrong reference at this point for the F-4. The data you recieved from there are for the Me-109G-6. Here is the entry from german wiki, especially for the F-4: Bewaffnung zwei 7,92-mm-MG 17 über dem Motor (je 500 Schuss, ausreichend für 25 bis 26 Sekunden Dauerfeuer) und eine 20-mm-Maschinenkanone MG 151/20 mit 200 Schuss (ausreichend für etwa 15 Sekunden Dauerfeuer, durch die Propellernabe feuernd) Translation: Armament: two 7.92 mm MG-17 over the engine (each 500 rounds, enough for 25 to 26 seconds permanent firing) and one 20 mm Machinegun MG151/20 with 200 rounds (enough for 15 seconds permanent firing, shooting trough propeller)
  17. Great plane. Nice job. Only one remark. Your 109F-4 has two 13 mm machineguns. In reality they had only two 7.92 mm guns.
  18. True. The soviet designer who later developed the AA-8 Aphid (R-60) said once: The AIM-9B Sidewinder was our missile university. The soviets learned all how to make a IR missile. In the 1970th an east german MiG-21 lost a R-3S (Atoll) over the Baltic Sea. West german frogmen found the missile and west german weapon engineers tested it. Afterwards they said: "The Atoll is a very good copy of the AIM-9B Sidewinder". They put it on a rail of a F-104G and the missile worked very well.
