  1. No I spent 4 months there... and that was bad enough
  2. Yeah the radio call for those is measles (and a big morale boost for the guys in the way out areas). I spent time down there in 1997 when there where Tornado F-3's running loose... but I was on East Falkland up at Mount Kent...
  3. As to the Buccaneer's they used to be tracked visually at Red Flag as they used to look for rooster tails in the desert and there are a few sand tracks when they banked... On a personal note I was on exercise around 93/94 I think and I remember looking out to sea and seeing a rooster tail in the water and then a Bucc flying below the height of spit of land I was stood on and remember I could have waved down to the crew... ever since then I renamed them Fuccaneer's. When you can go that low who needs Fighters??? They used to in 70's out run F-4's on the deck... as the F-4 couldn't get a lock and they where bouncing around... I reckon if they had updated the electronics etc they would still be a very viable strike aircraft today...
  4. This is getting infuriating these TSR-2 shots popping up... Saw the one they have at Duxford and the thing looks as though its doing Mach 2 stood still... Didnt get any Pics of it though... just think TSR2 would have meant no Tornado...!!! As the Germans where interested in the TSR2 and for its time it was more advanced than the F-111's as well range would have been better faster... Sorry to all the Vark Vreaks out there... and from what the Test Pilot said on the first flight said it handled beautifully also the fact it could outrun a Lightning with only one burner lit whereas the Lightning had both lit... says enough about its acceleration... Forget the Political stuff the jet looked was fantastic...
  5. Okay just looked at some photo's and the Mig-29 in them is definitely a late model C variant as the early A model does not have the big spine. Not sure though if its a SE or the later SD version. Also remember the North Korean's will by now have the AA-11 Archer missile and possibly the AA-12 Adder which would make it an interesting day out for an F-16 driver. They also seem to have A-5C Fantan attack aircraft which as above would make it vaguely possible for them to have the J-10 maybe only a couple of Squadrons in the future. Maybe even some of those Iranian rebuild F-5's both in the same boat as outlaw nations (Okay this one is my mind wandering into the theoretical.) Also if you throw in SA-10, SA-11 and SA-12 batteries. Life could get real interesting fast for a Jet Jockey no matter what your driving. Link is for the Mig-29 intercept on a P-3C. http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_178.shtml
  6. I generally go up as a Fourship... My Wingie goes with bombs for the primary target the second pair go with SEAD/Air to Air and I go loaded for everything... F-4 for example Pair of ARM's Winders and Sparrows and maybe Mavericks or Bombs for the primary target just in case my Wingie misses and Mav's as they are great for dealing with Zipper guns without gunfighting them....
  7. If at first you dont succeed "README" normally works...
  8. If required I have books for the Royal Air Force and Navy where I can get the infomation. As to the books Emp is right about The Third World War much more interesting if a bit more long winded than the Tom Clancy book
  9. Weasel Hunting.... so I would be a mud-mover... nothing like being chased by SAM's and reducing the Site to its component parts... I prefer a target that shoots back but thats me sick and twisted... But to the knife fighting only if its Guns only... missile's make it too easy...
  10. Flaming heck whatever next... a jet powered flying submarine.... Good model and I the smokemarks on the tail set it just right and as to flying note to everyone dont mess with an Agressive Su-27 series its seriously bad for your virtual health....
  11. From what I have seen the Russians are ditching the Red Star....
  12. Mine was F-19 the C64 and then it was Microswipe Flight Simulator version 1 where you could fly a Sopwith Camel and have a blast in WW1 and then it was onto F-18 on the Amiga a few years later....
  13. Hi Kevin... The Korea map you are on about is that the one on Combatace ???
  14. Thanks as to the SAM's thats part of the reason as in the 1970's / 80's it was one of the most heavily defended areas in the world... need to make it a challenge... Thanks EricJ will scratch that idea as I said was only an idea... As to the SAM's whose scared of them ???... Looks like I will have to take a further look at designing a Map as I was hoping to get Japanese Units involved as most of the scenarios are Western Europe and Mid-East with the odd Vietnam based one....
  15. I have a question as I had an Idea on the way to work this morning, I know an idea in the morning. Anyway I digress a few years ago I did a scenario on the old Janes Fleet Command which was essentially based in the Kuril Islands, Japan and Vladivostok and before anyone says it yeah I know it was covered in Janes Fighter Anthology... Anyway the year set is 1976/7. No real storyline as yet but thats something I can work on I have a couple of ideas there. For example the Soviets start overflights over Japan to get Japan to come over to the Soviet side and something goes wrong (not sure what yet) maybe an airliner gets hit or a Soviet jet has a malfunction and crashes into a village/town you get the idea. Causing the Japanese to respond to defend their territory. Okay what I would or need to know is anyone working on a Map for that area of the world? We have Japanese jets okay F-4EJ We have Carriers to simulate the USS Midway or whichever ship was out there and no I will not be putting Tomcats on the Carrier USS Midway couldn't carry them but Navy Phantoms A-7's A-6's. Also we have enough Mig's running around to last me 3 lifetimes... I have many different ways of running this as in do the Chinese join in and if so on whose side but these are details that can be worked out... I aim primarily to use JASDF JMSDF and US Navy Air Power besides whatever USAF units where there at the time. I have a rough listing of what the Soviets had out ther eat the time. Also the Soviet Navy as well as there are plenty of old style Soviet ships here and a 6inch cruiser of the Baltimore class can double for a Sverdlov class CG. Now besides all that is there a way of providing an Escort for a Jet that is Red and becoming blue departing from a red airbase landing at a blue base (Victor Belenko Style yeah I know he got in without anyone escorting him) and you being launched to provide protection ??? If not that can be skipped... Now this is all theoretical unless someone has a Vladivostock/Japan map that can be used or is in the works as I do not know how to create a Map. If it comes to it I will attempt but will be asking for help a lot. Saying that as I have only modded campaigns for myself and not released any this will take me some time. First the preperation of whats needed, basic storyline and lead up to Day 1 of the war... I would appreciate any help or ideas as I plan to look into this further from the beginning of March (RL in the way)...
  16. True Lex but the Mig-25 was designed with Jamming in mind and from about 40-50 miles there was a good chance it could target and lock on to other aircraft. The comms with the bases was so messed up they didnt know which way was up and a lot of the Iraqis where flying blind....
  17. I can help if you require anything from the English perspective. Had a look at the list on the Spainish area and it all looks to me as though its 1882 as most of the equiment is 1982 era... The second link looks like it might be later but not 2000. Though I couldnt read the Spainish... but it looked good whatever the era... I will advise I am not a modder apart from programming the Campaigns though I am looking into the modding at present. Let me know if you need help.
  18. Apologies Dave I am at work and couldn't access the read me, but I knew there was a comment in there along those lines WIP Beta... thanks for that... will go chase the ghost's some more
  19. Hey leave the Muppets out of this at least they are Funny... As to the idiot complaining some people have Far toooooo much time on their hands and we should not lower ourselfs to their level of idiocy as they will always win as they have more experience... As to the Mods in here I am grateful that a lot of people out there willing to spend their time to actually mod the game and to such a great degree. As to the ODS if I remember someone did say it wasn't a finished mod in the readme or am I getting confused again... (silver moment sorry). Thanks again to all the people doing this and to all the critics make it constructive as I might be evil and release some of my stuff without checking it... Rant over...
