Some weapons aren't showing up
daddyairplanes replied to thejackie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i will confirm, alot of the weapons from the ODS30AE are tweeked to work specifically with certain aircraft and even certain pylons (well, weapon stations to be specific). for general advice i will say this is the time to learn to compare entries and how things work. i wont give specific advice on any of it because there's a hell of alot. the head honcho for 30AE will probably tell you not to f*** with it as its worked on by a team to be as good as possible. while that is true, modders are tinkerers. pull s*** apart and put it back together again. learn how to do so and make it work. the experts even know how to hide the extra parts i wont tell you not to pull ODS30AE apart, might as well tell a tide to stay out. but i will say that assitance on specifics might be sparse. use the knowledge base, go through the old forum threads. there is alot of info in there that will help you -
Edge, like its predecessor, is the best browser to get another browser! but i agree with bazillius, and prefer to use firefox for most things. only using chrome on my school laptop because the school site works better with it finally, extra points to other Kevin for using the ancient computer of Theseus

I disagree on the B-2 lookalike. Esp. as it seemed much lighter in color. First thing that popped to mind. The windows and depth on the bottom ( versus how the original slopes to a bit of a point) are way different too, as well as the intakes seeming more flush than the B-2. Not that I was looking or anything

Well, not much to see, but what's there is interesting.

Somebody will. Likely somebody that does no modding of any stripe. Hell, my packs this summer had a guy posting about the Block 10 F-16s ( aka the TW model) needing new models. On several packages with NO Block 10s included. Big part is are you happy with it and is it too noticeable in game. If the answers are yes and no in order, it's all good. -
I have a feeling it will be a covered ceremony anyways. Given they forgot to close off airspace for the B2 unveiling way back when, and drones would be harder to keep away. But we will see!

Help with national insignia
daddyairplanes replied to petrouvis's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
like Eric said, even the old heads at this goof now and then still. my personal preference: i dont usually use level 0(nation) or level1(unit) decals for years now. level2(serial numbers) will work for anything if you dont add a number to the end of the name. in exactly tailored example, i will make a USNstar.tga for national insignia. proper scale and rotations for location. shows same on all. then the CAG bird will be USNstar000.tga, a full color insignia rather than regular subdued. but all the others will still use that unnumbered USNstar.tga but thats just one method. draw on all the tutorials and posts from the past, and figure your method out. -

yeah, Nation=FrenchNavy needs to be changed to Nation=OADF you can also change the name of the skin should you choose. then any aircraft using this skin should show your new nation decals edit- using an existing skin or ini is a good way to learn how to do this (or even quick and lazy way to create new stuff when you know what your doing). but instead of just copying, copy then change the - folder name - name withing textureset ini - and create a new decal folder. then edit the file path within that skins decal.ini to match your new decal folder using "Replace" function in notepad. this will help avoid confusion in teh future. even if you name it something simple like TEST. -

you could put it in the global decals folder outside of any aircraft. but for now i would just leave it where it is until you have the basics down better -

the decals are part of the skin. sort of the ini goes in the skin folder. the decal folder (holding the tgas) is seperate from the aircraft folder (holding the skins). but the decal.ini will be within the skin folder what does your textureset.ini look like for this skin? -

can you post your parts of the ini entries? little easier to diagnose issues in the flesh than over the virtual phone. in game screenshots will also help figure out your issue if i understand your last question, then i have to ask: are you selecting the same skin for all planes in the flight? also, in my experiences add on nations rarely add to game generated AI flights (flights other than your own). they show if you use an editor to add them into a mission, but the game likes to stick to the originals (at least in my installs) when populating the airspace. but you will get better advice with a pic of the issue and the ini that you worked on -

daddyairplanes replied to petrouvis's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
a national insignia will only show on a aircraft of that nation, if you used the decal level 0. ie, you have a USAF insignia, the skin will need to be USAF in the Nation= line of the skin textureset.ini. same for RoyalNavy, RAF etc. if you are trying to do a nation not in the stock game (like US Army) you will need to add that nation to the NationsList.ini personal preference here is to just make the insignia and assign it level two(serial numbers). occasionally using level zero(nations) decals acts wonky, esp for AI and you will have a jet in USAF camo with some other markings. but doing level 2 lets me place it, and if there is variation needed i can make the main one without a number and the variations with the appropriate numbers (ie decal, then decal007 and decal 019 for variations) i personally tend towards all level two for just that reason. but if your skin should represent multiple nations or units you would need to include a level 0 and 1 entry so they are selectable in the drop down menu in game. mine are usually locked to a specific unit of a specific nation so i get away with all level 2 but its not for everyone. -

whats your modding plans for the new year?
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
just like the question states. leading off, i hope to -continue low level work on ODS upgrades (my part mainly in scouring the DL section for newer and better versions of already included mods, as well as some upgrade of whats already there) -continue with SAC B-52s (G model in particular, hoping for a partner on the H models) reskinning for the late 70s through end of SAC(1992) era -fix up the B-1s and FB-111s for SAC -minor tweaks to the B-52D, F and G for Vietnam, as well as minor tweaks for the white belly BUFFs to incorporate unit badges rather than just the SAC badge on both sides -repackaging some of the appropriate airliners as a USAF nationed Civil Reserve Airlift Fleet (CRAF) squadron for ODS -747-100/200, and possibly renewed DC-10s if a lil bird comes through (no pressure, no worries for the one that told me bout it) -finally, regardless of new trijet, new KC-10 skins using my current modus operandi (tga camo) with a focus on ODS not too much i hope, esp with a job keeping me busier than before and trying to learn how to land in a new sim w/o breaking at least one of the landing gear who else wants to give a sneak peek into their plans?
