no worries, latest post looks great this holiday season, it might be wise to get a new 1 or 2 TB external HD. then save at least the installation files for everything you use regularly in a folder. its what i did to switch from my laptop from the last 5 years to my new desktop. was back up and running in a day for most of the stuff. now rebuilding my mod folders, by actually focusing them on specifc regions, eras and aircraft types........ well the test install is going. the rest might take a couple of years .... -
C-141B Starlifter (by Coyote Aerospace)
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
no plans for it the 89 Skin should do for ODS. same serials in same units from 1989 through 1991, and most of the white tops remaining stayed that way until repainted grey (for use in countries where it was more diplomatic to not send camoflaged "warplanes"). as noted in the readme, there will not be a bare metal skin for this one, a few mapping quirks would really stand out in bare metal that dont in White over Grey (or are completely covered by the tga European One) -

View File C-141B Starlifter (by Coyote Aerospace) Lockheed C-141B Starlifter by Coyote Aerospace This mod is a new version of the C-141B Starlifter by Veltro2K, with skins by daddyairplanes It features several historical skins covering several important periods in the Starlifters B/C model career. European One camoflage is applied as a tga skin, so two varieties of camo on the ramps! Installation unzip, open the C-141B(v2k) folder, drop contents into desired mod folder allow overwrites if needed, weapons may be the only thing needed Included C-141B Starlifter model MAC skins for 1981, 1986, 1987, and 1989 AMC skins ranging from 1993 through 2006 as well as a special Last Starlifter skin depicting 66-0177, known as the Hanoi Taxi and the last Starlifter to be retired Cargo, Jeep, and Paratrooper weapons for the bay Known Issues - the main cargo doors and paratrooper doors open at the same time. an expert was consulted, and it is not reasonably feasable to seperate the actions. - cockpit is an older one, this aircraft is intended more for eyecandy as there are no real transport missions in SF2. anyone who can donate a more modern pit would be greatly appreciated - While 63 C-141Bs underwent upgrades to C standard in the late 1990s, the upgrades were internal (glass cockpit, avionics, GPS reciever). as they are not really visible, there is only a B model for here in game. The serials however are accurate and part of the last 63 Starlifters in service after 2002 (when the last McChord based aircraft retired) - due to slight mapping issues, there will not be a bare metal version of this C-141B. they dont show up really on the White top, green or gray skins, but would stand out on a bare metal. there were only about 7 that operated unpainted for 9 months during the Desert Shield/Desert Storm timeframe anyhow. Credits Veltro2K: main model, intial idea to revamp this plane daddyairplanes: skin and decal work, ini edits Killerbee331: paratrooper, M38 Jeep from weapons pack - cargo and pallet are also included although i cannot recall who created those. if it was you or you remember who did it, please let us know so we can fix the credits on behalf of the Coyote Aerospace team, thank you for downloading this mod. i appreciate this. my late father in law was with this unit i believe at around this time. GIMPs free ya know ive always wanted to do some low viz TPS birds for the fleet myself. but for me they are somewhere around 989 on a list of 1500 things to do. hoping you dont get burnt out on the SLUF after the full color squadrons, as lo viz would be nice. but it can get tiring going down the rabbit hole researching and creating so i understand if it doesnt happen -

Sailor Who ‘Hated’ Navy Torched $1.2B Assault Ship: Warrant
daddyairplanes replied to GKABS's topic in The Pub
cant speak for the Navy in 1989 (when the Iowa turret blew and they tried to pin it on one Sailor rather than admit several unauthorized things were going on) but in the late 90s commands always seemed quick to pin it on one person if they could. relieved damn near if it actually stuck. it only got worse (as far as commanders and very senior NCOs of the E-8/E-9 persuasion go) over twenty years. i had a CPT maintenence officer in Kosovo. we had an inspection on the vehicles from Division, and everyone thankfully passed. everyone but Battalion Maintenence, all of whose trucks and M88 were deadline. while i wasnt a NCO at the time (hell, i wasnt even maintenence, just attached since cooks had no job), i was there when he was told. you could see him get pissed in his face for about 30 seconds. we braced ourselves. then he said calmly, "How do we fix it?" that in my opinion was one of the finer examples of leadership in 21 years i witnessed. i can not imagine it being common today. -

Skinner needed

first off, do excuse me for treating this like a job hiring process. it sort of is, but all we can afford to pay you is 10000 points. 30000 if the letter H is involved* (j/K) to those that have thrown their hats in the ring i appreciate it. i have let the boss know to check the thread, and waiting on word back, when one of the two of us will let you know. or if something (or nothing) below interests let us know. we probably wont bring too many in, but those of us already in are getting swamped with current projects and real life. we have several skinners, tga and ini gurus in group already, but one active and two inactive 3D modellers, 1 skinner asking for model revisions can be frustrating, a dozen would suck the joy out of this hobby. the projects currently on the table are Mirage IVA redux * Tu-16 * An-22 Antei * Saab Argus * C-2A(R) Greyhound (FM guruu needed) * A-6A * 707-320 * VC-10 * 747 for those in the know (and now those that werent) there are a few more projects in the works. they arent listed here because they are already claimed by interested parties or in progress. yes there are airliners in there. no daddyairplanes is not snatching them up immediately may come back to them later, but i have a full plate, fridge, and storage freezer in the basement *as for the letter H, my only clue is Whose Line is It Anyway? -
