Did anyone ever do a F-16D Block 30 or 40 for SF2?
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
F-16D Block 40 in USAF service to be very specific. looking at 74th Fighter Squadron in 1994 and Arizona ANG (which hosts the Air Guards Viper School and so has more than one or two on hand) but went back and looked closer at the Poland F-16D. antennea removing trick works quite will on this (no gaping holes when its removed) skin could use some love, but hey, why would you think im asking? edit: if you got something ready to go it would be appreciated. the C models are using the Block 30 and 40s as used in the ODS release, but this model is going to need alotta love before releasing. and for probably 4 skins with 6 serials apiece The C models had much more planned..... -

Dude, those are wicked. I especially like how youre keeping it to historical Mud Hen users so far (would that make a F-16E an "Dirty Bird"?) mandatory screenshots from down under -

or maybe a low speed, low altitude aircraft, with the hydrofoils as a fixed landing gear. make the max speed 2-3 knots over takeoff speed and in theory you dont have a gunboat cruising at 5000 ft agl but keeping it from flying away could be tricky, and it would jack up use of the guns for surface engagement iirc still, its a thought -
Mod project: Strike Fighter Alternative World (SFAW)
daddyairplanes replied to Eagle114th's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
no doubt trotski, it is his world and a made up one too. divergence from the main timeline is fun. but in somethings, i think its best to keep as close to history as possible. first rule of alternate history: smallest possible divergence from real timeline, with hte butterfly effects it causes going down the line. back to Eagle114th, unless your timeline China ramped up nuke production in the 1960s, it would not have had enough to give more than 1 to Zafir. However, one is not practical. it can be taken out easy in a strike like you detail, plus after that one shot leaves Zafir open for massive retaliation (nuclear or non) by many parties in the world. 8-12 is a better number, although by 1975 IRL i dont think China would have spared that although if done before Sept 1976 Mao might have been willing to give some up. the big question; whats in it for China? long standing friendship isnt enough in the case of nukes, there should be some geopolitical goal that Zafir having nukes is assisted by. and IRL China in 1975 wasnt that big a player (see how their incursion in Vietnam in 1979 went, and that was a neighbor) hey, it is your world. just giving my two cents in on it as an amatuer historian- 23 replies

ok, couple of nit picks here why did Zafir "invade" Israel? they are pretty far away unless Israel is in a different location in your world second, who gave Zafir a tactical nuclear warhead? by 1975, the US and USSR would be firmly against such activity. France and the UK would have no interest, and China and Israel would have too few to gift any. chemical warheads would be more realistic, and able to be created within Zafir changing these probably changes quite abit of the rest of the timeline- 23 replies

Finally, FINALLY my Country (Canada) Makes a Decision; 88, F-35s
daddyairplanes replied to Arrow's topic in The Pub
good logic. but if the Raptor or Panther were to visually see a hostile Typhoon IRL, something has gone astray. the general idea these days is to zap them BVR and yes, we have heard this tune before. but since the late 90s we've had the instruments to play it better. no so much in Vietnam, a few years after the BVR song was first written (and the usual goto for arguing against BVR engagements) finally, with exception to the smaller users that will go to all F-35 fleets, its meant to be an attack aircraft first, fighter second. the F-22 was built to be a fighter first, and had to take on some attack roles second to justify costs on the ones that were built. comparing the dogfighting abilty of a F-35 is like comparing the dogfight abilty of an A-7 to a F-4. yeah it can do it in the right hands and circumstanses. but it wasnt really designed to do that, just protect itself on the way to the main target. -

awesome and huge project. especially across both TKs series, i havent heard of many huge mods for First Eagles take breaks as needed. people get burnt out working smaller projects, this one would rival most anything here currently when finally complete.- 23 replies

i dunno. Raptor is a rare enough bird, they might put the money into patching her up. but if not then yeah, she'll live on in the rest of the fleet
-
probably a mix of both, plus the Frogfoot isnt a featherweight either. later editions were developed with input from Soviet experience in Afghanistan (and in this case possibly Chechnya too)
