HPWDM 2.3 update
Herr Prop-Wasche replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - File Announcements
Sorry, I did not see your message until just now. Yes, I uploaded the 2.5 update on Sunday. Everyone should now die properly. -
HPWDMv2.5 update View File Readme File 18/12/2010 ------------ HPW Full Campaign Damage Model for OFF BHaH HITR v2.5 by Herr Prop Wasche Zip file contents: HPWDMv2.5\aircraft folder with 477 individual aircraft folders, .xdp files and .bdp files (Fortiesboy, you were right!) HPWDMv2.5 readme.txt INSTALLATION: Important! This version of the damage mod is intended to be used only in conjunction with Jonesoft's Generic Mod Enabler and should not be installed UNLESS JSGME has already been installed into your CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields game folder. With JSGME, installation and use of this, or any mod, is very easy. Simply extract the contents of the HPWDMv2.5 zip file into the MODS folder which is created when you install JSGME into OFF. The mod is correctly installed if you see the readme.txt and the following folder structure inside the MODS folder: HPWDMv2.5\aircraft\Alb_DIII_AC1, etc. To load the mod, simply run JSGME, highlight the mod you wish to use, click on the top button, and then start your game. That's it! NOTE: This mod is intended to be used in QC battles AND the main campaign. ------------ Version History 2.5 Major fix and revision! All HPW damage model users are urged to upgrade to this version! --Fix: Discovered and corrected major error introduced in v2.1 which prevented player pilot from being injured or dying even when "Dead is Dead" pilot outcome option was selected in Workshop. All three outcomes should now work as designed. --Fix: Corrected error which prevented damage model mod from being applied to Nieuport 11's. --Hit points for horizontal stabilizers increased slightly to lower chances of "tail-first slides" at low altitude for some aircraft. Note: This problem may also be partly an FM issue and cannot be fully fixed by changes to the damage model. --Hit points for all control cables increased slightly in all aircraft. --Important new feature: aircraft .bdp file associated with each matching aircraft .xdp file now included in mod. This has two major effects: game load times are no longer slowed the first time after the mod is applied, AND the original HITR .bdp files will be restored if the mod is disabled or removed. Previous versions of the damage model failed to restore the correct .bdp files, possibly causing certain game anomalies if the mod was disabled. My Pilot never dies
Herr Prop-Wasche replied to jamieandnici's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Speaking of revisions to the DM, I am just about ready to upload the fix and revision to the downloads section. Here is a copy of part of the release notes for the new revision: I have tested almost all of the planes in HITR using this latest revision of the DM and they all seem to work correctly now. If you do notice any aircraft that does not produce injuries, please let me know so I can fix the problem. Please note that occasionally the OFF manager will not produce an injury even in the case of a serious crash. However, if the problem persists more than one or two times in a row, be sure to notify me of the problem and I will get it fixed. Thanks again to everyone who enjoys using the mod! Now better than ever--I hope! -

Sorry that I kept you guys waiting on a fix for the mod. Just before I first heard about a possible problem with the mod I had started to feel a little burned out about working on OFF and OFF mods, so it took me a while to get back into finding a solution for the problem. Then, I had a lot of trouble figuring out what might had been a cause of the problem. Turns out it was changing the pilot hit points from 40 to 35. Apparently, pilot outcomes like injuries or death are at least partially controlled by the number of hit points consumed in a crash or whatever. Changing the starting value must have messed up the algorithm that OFF uses to determine death or injuries. That is fixed in the latest revision. -

Good news! I have discovered what was causing the "my pilot never dies" problem. For details, check out the OFF General Help forum. I hope to have the fix ready by the end of the weekend. Cheers! -

Solution found! Good news. I have discovered what was causing the problem. Apparently, OFF did not like me changing the hit points for the pilot from 40 to 35. After I changed the value back to the original value, I found I was able to "die" again. I can also switch from any of the settings without having to delete or deactivate the the DM. I have tested four or five planes, and so far, they all seem to work. I still need to do some testing, and I need to write up some brief notes in the readme about the changes, but I hope to have the fix up for download by the end of the weekend. Check to make sure that you have correctly installed the mod. Every version since 2.0 has had the change to the pilot hit points. Edit: Also, if you were flying the Nieuport 11 your pilot could still die, because I hadn't noticed until now that my DM failed to include the N11. The N11 will be included with the latest revision. -
New FM mod is in the works

Thanks, 77Scout. I discovered JSGME during my Silent Hunter 3 playing days. Very nifty program and it does save a lot of grief. -
Royce, Did you remember to delete every directory and file on your computer that references OFF? Don't forget the CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder that resides in the Documents and Settings directory of your main drive.

'Bones, The MODS folder is not part of the OFF installation. It is supposed to be placed into the CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields Folder when you install the Generic Software Enabler, sometimes referred to as JSGME. Although you don't HAVE to have JSGME in order to install some mods, I have made all of my mods so that they can easily be installed using JSGME. Installing my mods without JSGME is very cumbersome, so I recommend that anyone who wants to use the FM or DM mods use JSGME. -

Herr Prop-Wasche replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
The solution to the "tail-dragging" I think, is a combination of increasing the hit points for the elevators and/or horizontal stabilizers, along with an adjustment to the center of balance for the planes so the plane's weight is moved a little more toward the nose, making it easier for the plane to transition from a climb into a dive. -

Herr Prop-Wasche replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Olham--The "complete" package of FM changes I sent to you for testing isn't really complete. It mainly consists of changes to some of the Albatros' versions and the N28 for use in the campaign and a few other FM changes that will only work for aircraft in QC. What are the exact names of the FM mods that you are currently using? Actually, regardless of the FM mods you are using, as long as you install the N28FM1.5 mod last, you should not have any problems. Later, when I have more FM's modded, I will integrate them into one package. As far as which planes I would like to play with a little more, I agree that the Albatroses, particularly the DII, could use some adjustments. After that, I would like to see if I could reduce the dive speed of both the Sopwith Pup and the two Tripes, slow down the top speed of the Tripe from 115 mph to something closer to 105 (don't worry, this number is just off the top of my head and is not final), and reduce the speed of the Camel a bit. Olham has also mentioned that a few planes such as the Nieuports and the Pup tend to climb and stall too much when in the hands of the AI. I think I have found a partial solution to that problem, so I would also like to fix that, if I can find the time. Finally, my last project would probably to experiment with the Dr1 and Camel to see if I can make them a little more quirky than they are now--but that project is way off in the distance--maybe after the release of P4. Of course, if anyone else can identify a problem that they feel is historically inaccurate, I will be glad to take a look at it, but I can't promise whether I can do anything about it! -

View File N28 FM 1.5 update Greetings, OFFers! HPW proudly presents the 1.5 revision (and first official release) of his Flight Model for the Nieuport 28, flown by several U.S. squadrons in early to mid 1918. This FM is meant to be used as an alternative to the official OFF FM used by the N28. Major changes to the FM include: slightly higher top speed, better high altitude performance, slower dive speed, increased susceptibility to upper wing damage from prolonged high speed dives (just as in real life), and improved handling with fewer nasty stall characteristics. The major improvement from 1.0 to 1.5 includes better AI performance--less climbing and stalling during combat and less "bobbing" up and down of the aircraft at low altitudes. This should make AI opponents tougher to shoot down and make your AI wingmates more likely to survive their mission. Installation is via JSGME. Simply unzip the file into the MODS folder, open JSGME, enable the mod, and fly! The mod has been tested and works for both QC and campaign missions. Notes: Please be sure to write to me about any comments or criticisms of the new mod. Also, please note that this mod is based substantially on the existing official OFF FM for the N28 and would not be possible without OBD's and Polvoski's previous work on this and the other planes currently available in OFF. Thank you OBD! Submitter Herr Prop-Wasche Submitted 12/10/2010 Category Aircraft Models

I am finally ready to present to the flying public my 1.5 revision (and first official release) of HPW's Flight Model for the Nieuport 28, flown by several U.S. squadrons in early to mid 1918. The most significant improvement from 1.0 to 1.5 includes better AI performance--less climbing and stalling during combat and less "bobbing" up and down of the aircraft at low altitudes. This should make AI opponents tougher to shoot down and make your AI wingmates more likely to survive their mission. Installation is via JSGME. Simply unzip the file into the MODS folder, open JSGME, enable the mod, and fly! The mod has been tested and works for both QC and campaign missions. The mod has been uploaded to the downloads forum and should be available soon after admin approval. P.S. If this FM mod is successful and well-received, I will probably release FM mods for a few other aircraft in OFF. However, because I have found that FM modding is a long, tedious, and occasionally frustrating process, I will not be able to release FM mods for every aircraft. Therefore, if you feel a certain plane is in need of modification, be sure to let me know. If enough people agree that a particular aircraft would benefit from some "work," I will consider making adjustments to that aircraft. Thank you, and I hope everyone who uses it, enjoys my FM mod! -

Any good news from CompUSA today, Hellshade? -
OK, Hellshade. You have talked me into it--to a point. I looked more into the xdp files and noticed a few areas where certain components, such as the nose and fuselage, can be strengthened. They are probably set too low right now. I can also increase the "failure" level for the wings so they won't get shot off anymore. After that, we can evaluate if we need to increase the hit levels for anything else. Deal?

I'm gonna take the next few days to try and tweak the N28 just a little more to see if I can make the upper wing fabric come off a little more easily without sacrificing some other aspect of performance. Currently with the revised FM, the wing fabric will come off, but only after dives of more than ** feet if the plane is undamaged. I would like to shorten that distance a bit. **EDIT: removed reference to number of feet in order to retain the mystery for a little while.** -

A few years ago, just after I had put together my new (at the time) computer, I went looking for the necessary files to install and get RB3D Full Canvas Jacket and/or Hell's Angels mod running on my system. While looking for files, stumbled across a reference to OFF phase 3. The rest is history... Welcome to OFF, you won't regret it!
