  1. I'll toss my 'Hat in the Ring' (OFF Add-on Plug) on this one... For what it was, it was a good film as a core. The uniforms, setting, atmosphere, and backstaging were fantstic. There is little to no historic value to Jasta 11, other than a few correctly named pilots. They do not fly J11 painted planes, and are considered wild and very immature... nothing close to what was written of the very militant MvR. Although Kurt Wolff was correctly shown wearing his good luck charm (his yellow sleeping cap), the rest of the lot were nothing close to what I read about. The planes look fantastic... nothing else to say. What little dog-fighting/flight scenes there were, were very good and rendered very well. Lastly, the characters and how they portrayed their historic actuals was terrible. LvR was shorter than MvR in the movie, and we all know that was far from truth. LvR acted like an annoying, jealous younger brother, and we all know historically MvR and LvR were very close... hence why LvR was in Jasta 11. It was a good one for the archives... but as stated... useless for any historic info. But still, don't pass it up. Enjoy it. OvS
  2. Fantastic Mike! Great job!! James
  3. You have a very interesting way of introducing yourself... no offense taken, none given. Study the skins... trust me, it's 90% of the work... and it will show the more you do... and TAKE YOUR TIME!!! Pumping out 5 skins a night is cool, but what kind of quality are you giving? Take 5 nights to do one, look at it again...then decide. All the best, OvS
  4. Are you insinuating that we copied YOUR markings on our skins? We own tons of books with hundreds of profiles. I suggest you get accustomed to seeing skins that resemble what you've done already, especially since we're now working on some of the Jastas that you posted. Here's mine... and yours side-by-side. Don't even think for a minute that I'd pull-down your skins and remake them using your artwork... you do nice work, but I follow books, profiles and hordes of other info Shred sends me. Have a close look... and please don't take this the wrong way... I've been at this for over 10 years now... our compared work is just slightly different. Mine being on the left... OvS
  5. The ultimate killer would be if the insurance company hung-up the phone when he called in the accient with... "... we saw the Yahoo clip, and noticed you were illegally talking on the cell phone... have a nice day... <click> "
  6. ooooo... this is gotta hurt... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091113/ap_on_fe_st/us_odd_lagoon_bugatti
  7. I'm currently not making any Jasta 5 Alb D.III and D.III Early skins. There are already a ton of them using mottling and other unit markings. We don't have much information on them past the Alb D.Va's. Most of the Fokker D.VII's are based on old profiles, but if you guys have anything... let us know. Are you guys still flying RB3D MMP?
  8. Gotta hand it to them... there's a lot of respect and feeling in that paint job! Very nice!
  9. LOL!!! I feel your pain... I'm 23 Dec... I used to get robbed too!!! I was scheduled for Xmas day, but someone shut down the 'bar' early, so I had to 'leave'.
  10. Bump! < Arto.... share some light... > Bump!
  11. fingers... fingers... always my fingers... Also Pflaz is New Yorkeese for having more than 1 flat tire: Example... Vinny: "Eh yo, whazzamadda wit duh car.. it ain't freakin' drivin' right!" Tony: "You freakin' idiot.. youz gotz 2 Pflaz on one side..." OvS
  12. Of the planes the Germans really need, the Pflaz D.III is not one of them. Polovski could certainly make the model based on the D.IIIa as it was almost identical aside from the gun mounts and other small details. It's a matter of time and priority. I'd rather see him spend the time on the Pflaz D.XII or the Albartos C series, maybe the AEG's, or Aviatik... see where I'm going with this... All the best, OvS
  13. Pretty cool video... I like it even though it's obviously colorized. But in 2009, the basic facts should always be checked and corrected. The Dr.1 was flying in 1917 and was red, not pink... and he was called The Red Baron, not the Red Fighter Pilot.
  14. I have to agree... that is one of my top favorites... Brother's In Arms has some very good Title music as well... very moving. But this song gives that 'massive military operation' type feeling Half-Life 2 was the best military/SciFi theme I've ever heard... http://www.videogametunes.net/game/halflife2.html OvS
  15. Pretty obvious the guy has aspirations to be noticed... working for the USO helping entertain the Troops will SURELY get him the attention he so deeply desires for the US Military. Just imagine the verbal beating he will take when the Marines get a hold of him. OvS
  16. Gents, Just a reminder to mark your calendars for the National Geographic Channel special on November 17, 9PM entitled "Hunt for the Samuri Subs". http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/episode/hunt-for-the-samurai-subs-4577/Overview This show will no doubt be special to anyone interested in WWII Japanese submarines, deep sea diving and technology. Starring none other than the OFF Communiy's Terry Kerby, who heads the Deep Sea Operations at the Hawaii University Reasearch Lab (HURL). Terry is affectionately known to us as Makai and has done some amazing work on OFF:BHaH. He is responsible for skinning the DFW C.IV/V, Pfalz D.III, Alb D.II, Fokker Dr.1 and worked with me on the Fokker D.VII series of aircraft skins as well. Please take the time to watch the show, it certainly will be worth the time spent in the chair other than the one that flies in OFF. ;) The show will focus on exploring deep into the Pacific Ocean off the coat of Oahu Island to seek out the I-400 and I-401 class Japaneese attack subs. These two submaries are recorded as the worlds largest Diesel powered craft ever to be built at a jaw-dropping 400+ feet long each. They allowed the for the storage of 3 dive bomber type floatation aircraft to be released from a hanger built into the conning tower. The plan for these subs was to attack a major U.S. naval base in the Pacific. But these subs were promptly handed over to the US Navy shortly after Japan signed the documents declaring surrender and ending WWII. The subs were then tested and inspected by the US Navy and scuttled shortly afterward when Russian Scientists demanded access to them. The show will bring you up and close with computer generated models of the original submarine designs, re-enactments, and actual footage from the subs piloted by Terry. Nat Geo will take you on board the main support vessel that carries the subs across the ocean to the diving site as well... so we'll get to see what life is like for Terry out at sea. Like any other show Nat Geo does, this one promises to be outstanding! So please, grab the kids and some popcorn and enjoy the show next week. I know I will... Terry has been telling me about this show for the past 2 years and I'm thrilled to finally see it for myself.... and of course him on TV. All the best, OvS PS... "I Love Makai" T-shirts will be for sale via a website I will post shortly after the show...
  17. I agree. Our cat Ivan (formally known as "Ivan the Terrible") is 4 now and a huge Russian Blue mix with dark blue/gray stripes. He was ferrel and mean as hell when we found him... or they say, the cats find you. I could only pick him up with thick electricians leather gloves as he would scratch and bite like a viper, hence his name. He's a wonderful cat to my 9 year old daughter. I swear he guards her like an ancient soul would guard the Holy Grail. He sleeps with her close to her head, or wrapped in her arms like a Teddy bear. He's a real pleasure... he hates me... but that's OK. ;) We do feed him dry food, and until we changed his diet, he was having issues. What do you guys feed your cats, especially those that have lived a long time? I'll post a pic of him tonight. OvS
  18. you guys rock!!
  19. OvS

    Good Riddens

I agree 100%!! Why does the public have to wait so long? 7 years, a short time compared to many others. I say get it done 6 months after sentence is given, especially if the DNA and all other scientific evidence matches (you know, the usual stuff that is checked when they think a person may not have done the crime). OvS
  20. Jasta 5's Josef Mai!! Nice choice! :good:
