OFF is the spiritual successor of red baron 3d. especially with offbase. so if you seek a great campaign and want to be part in ww1, then there is one choice really. for MP and flying about in the sake of flying a ww1 aircraft without really beeing involved, then there are other sims. but that's another topic in other forums, not here in a OFF forum.

but i think i found a small issue. the reward scale, whose percentage i usually have in the 20ies, seems not to save. i set it to 25% and after launching offbase again it jumps back again to the stock high percentage, which e.G. made me a brother of the chief cook in two virtual days.

Davy, did you try to run OFF from it's own icon? i guess it shouldn't work either, so has nothing to do with offbase. i think that since some update you might have an issue with WMP of some sort (which does not mean that you can't play music or so). i think it has something to do with the intro vid of off3. if you don't have deactivated it, then usually the intro vid appears, which needs obviously WMP in the background. have you tried to open a vid with your WMP yet?

i would love to, but can't since unfortunately i have no time. have a 2 year old son and a babygirl and quite busy. this little sparetime i have here and there i have to use for new stuff. but honestly, i think it's enough to copy it and translate it via google translator or something like that while using this version, just to get an idea what it's about. and woff will be something completely different anyways.

34 years old, turning 35 in feb. so when i played red baron and wings on amiga, i was an early teen. was rather a history lesson than a game.

@olham one thing that might keep you turned away from offbase is, that you think that automatically all mods are activated when you use it. this is not the case. you can tick and untick those mods which you want have, and those mods you don't want. only those mods are then loaded which you want to. that is one of the great features.

well, yes. it's actually more than that. over 300 original Heeresbericht news with apropriate pics which appear at the same date as it appeared back then. news about the front, speeches of the kaiser, important events, obituaries (e.G. boelckes death is main even for couple days when it happened). you must see it. really different level. if you didn't try it, then you really missed something.

i rather meant the very immersive roleplay :-). it is astonishing how often the faces of the various people somehow fit to their names and their characters. regarding the tracers and smoke mods. don't see a reason why they shouldn't work, so if you want to implement them, they're yours.

that's actually not the case olham. They were similarly prussian soldiers. in boelcke's book he wrote how he disabled an enemy twoseater. don't remember what happened, if the pilot was wounded or whatever. however, the observer stood up waving to him desperately begging for their lifes and to stop shooting since they were disarmed and helpless. he felt sorry for them, he wrote, but war is war, so he fired another burst into their crate until it broke apart and of course they died. MvR was also known for caring for his downed enemies who survived. he sent them cigars, and getwell postcards or even visited them personally in the hospital or prison camp. he took care that they got all they needed. but in the air there is no such hollywood romantic aviation blah. kill or be killed. disarming your enemy is no reason to let him escape. they are enemies and were treated as such in the heat of battle. those guynemer/udet stories or similar happened very very rarely, also strafing downed pilots was very common and nothing unfair. it's rather the romantic literature and movies which created the chivalry stuff and which made the people think (many decades after the war) that those very rare occasions when an enemy got spared, was something common, or by unwritten rule or whatever.

AFAIK the french people in prussia toasted to each other saying: "Le jour d'amour" which meant "love of the day". the germans repeated this phrase like they heard and said jokingly "Schorle Morle", which then turned to be the Schorle of nowadays. a schorle is when you mix too drinks together, usually applejuice with mineral water or any other juice with water.

to strafe an infantry or convoy etc. comes fro them german term "Strafe" punishement. to punish them etc.

there is something like that, when obi wan tells luke that his uncle never wanted him to follow to this idealistic "crusade" like his father did. i mean, crusade is rather something christianrelated which is probably rather unknown in the universe. same goes for the emperor and vader being the rulers of the galaxy. so their systems also looked like a "milky way"?

hi paulo, won't sound too nitpicking, but yugoslavia was not a civil war (as often wrongly referred), but an independence war. a civil war is among same people with different sides or fighting for or against certain systems etc. an independence war is when some country with other people rules another country and its people, and the ruled ones try to get independent and souvereign and free.

afaik every pilot could set the gauges to his likes. some wanted it one way, some the other. the altimeter centred or left, the fuel gauge right etc. and some also had room issues if they were taller or whatever. maybe this one wanted the rather big altimeter out of his cockpit because it too too much of space away and made him feel unconfortable

btw, i checked the baseball stats and scoresheets etc. of the past years, when i was still playing for the highest german divison, and by chance i found out that one of the most memorable games was the exact date when melissa was born. on 19th of june 2004 we had a doubleheader as a roadgame. i was behind the dish as catcher, as always. the first game was a normal 9 inning game, but the second game was tied until the 18th inning 1:1, before we lost it 2:1. i caught both games completely from the first to the last inning. all in all 27 innings behind the dish. probably not mentioned in any recordbook or almanach since there are of course scored as two different games. one 9 innings, one 18 innings. the very next day i tried to catch a bullpen in practice, but as soon as i crouched, my legs simply collapsed lol. so a memorable date. two of the most exhausting days were both 19th of june. cheers creaghorn
