  1. Yes, warping in general went wrong for me only twice, I think. I ended up in the Ardennes both times; still don't know, how that happened, and good advice with having the map on, Hasse Wind. I never dared to do that, cause I expected it to go wrong even easier then. I'll try it. But escort is special. Not your warp goes wrong there - only that you won't be with the 2seats; they are always at the front far earlier, and you have to catch up with them. Which can be too late.
  2. Kenley airfield - I've been there! But in the 80s - there were still the aircraft shelter pits, and the half round taxying way, but apart from that, nothing. Wonder how it looks today.
  3. Hasse Wind, warp and escort don't go together; at least for me. The two-seaters always disappear; also the A-flight.
  4. groumf, 3,2 GHz should be better and possible for you, but please ask the experts.
  5. Forget about A-flight - they always do their own things. Just climb to the Rolands and follow them. The only way to stay with them and protect them.
  6. Must have slipped through a wormhole - we shouldn't see Hurricanes in OFF! But I know what you mean. I stood on a chalk hill west of London with a friend, when we heard that distinct drone growing louder. It was obvious, that there was an oldtimer underway. And really: a Spitfire came closer. It passed our position so close, that we could wave to the pilot, and he waved back. We were impressed by the sound and vision.
  7. BirdDog, I can't see an exe.file - how does that D3D thing get installed? groumf, how fast is your Intel Core i7? My processor is an Intel E8300, overclocked slightly to 3 GHz. Together with an ATI HD4870 GPU (with 1 GB onboard) and 4 GB RAM my sim is running fine.
  8. Winder: I think OFF campaign speaks for itself as many I am sure can attest to. Amen to that !
  9. I probably won't go - I'll have to work on friday and maybe even saturday. The aircraft is original size and built after original plans, with the exception of the radial SIEMEN SH engine. No idea, who the owner is, but you could google "ILA Fokker Dr.1" and see, if you find something.
  10. Here is a wonderfully made video, showing and explaining a large scale model of the Albatros D.Va, with all functional parts. You won't find a better insight into this aircraft and it's controlls! Enjoy! PS: Here is the video showing the whole model in flight.
  11. UncleAl, the notorious RADAR MAN! Perhaps you print this Jpeg out and stick it on your cap?
  12. Eric announced this maintenance - see top thread. Until this is finished, you shouldn't bother too much, Ras. So far, the guys have always solved the problems.
  13. It reads: D - Die (The) E - Engländer (Crumpets) F - fürchten (fear) T - teutonische J - Jagdflieger (fighter pilots) Mmuahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!!
  14. ILA 2010 Berlin This year there is an ILA in Berlin again. (8. - 13. Juni 2010) Modern aircraft are getting presented and flown there, civil and military. The airshows offer a wide spread from today's most recent developments back to WW1. Last time I was there, I saw the gigantic Airbus A380 performing some incredible manoeuvers. It didn't have any seats built in, and the tanks were only filled enough for the takeoff, airshow and landing at Schönefeld airport again, and you wouldn't believe, what these big ones can do under such conditions. I also saw a flying replica of the Messerschmidt Me262 jet fighter (original size), a restored Messerschmidt Bf109 G in flight, Russian WW2 Yak fighters, a Chance Vought "Corsair" flying, and later folding up the wings for parking; a North American Mustang D; a B25 "Billy Mitchell", and many more interesting war planes. This year, there will be a flying Fokker Dr.1 ! If I can make it possible on Friday, I'll go.
  15. "Sunnhiesers"??? Someone sold you a very badly made copy, I'm afraid, Unc! RABU, the Pro Clip seems to be able to get attached to headphones, so that you would still only have one wire line. See here: I have no experience with it though - I'm running the TIR 4 hardware with the TIR 5 software and I'm very happy with that. Set it up to your likes (especially "Speed" and "Smoothness"), and you'll love it. I would hate to be wired.
  16. CaptSopwith: I fly with TAC Display turned on, as I don't have a TrackIR rig, which puts me outside of the rules and regs. Either way, I'm just enjoying the flight time. Capt, you don't know what you're missing! I know you're still a "poor" student yet, but if you can get the money together, get yourself TrackIR - it puts you in the cockpit! The "Krauts vs Crumpets" will continue from now June 6, 1917 until the end of the war. So if you want to join it later, you will be welcome on either side.
  17. Hihihi! And I thought, I was clueless! Hihi!!!
  18. Indeed, the "Tips & Cheats" sticky is definitely to be recommended to all newbies. (Was it so badly explained, UncelAl ?)
  19. Hihihihihihihihihihihihihihihi!!!!.... ... .... hihihihihihih!!!! ahm... - I think I'm hungry... Must go shopping. Let's buy steaks, octopus, olives, lemon jelly, aubergines, red wine, cheese, beer, tomatoes, red snapper, spaghetti, minced meat, potatoes, more beer, chocolate, Pringles, strawberry icecream, Italian cake, sausages, pizza, cutlets - my god, what's the matter, I could eat like a pregnant! Hihihihihihihi.... ...hihihihihihihi... .... (Inspired by: the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers by Gilbert Shelton)
  20. Not in my case, Hasse Wind - if I have to escort fighters and press "warp", the two-seaters vanish. I usually find them far ahead, already over the front or even on their way back. Not sure, if I'm alone with that strange result.
  21. CaptSopwith: My American pilot is... no, I'd better not, everytime I speak of my pilots, they perish the next day! Yep, that has happened to me many times, too. And if I don't speak of them, they die a little later. But perhaps you show some of his action in the "Reports from the Front". You could even join the "Krauts vs Crumpets" Full DiD Campaign, once you got back into it enough. There are British, German and French side now, and I think we should also add the Americans.
  22. Some commands are originally so, that you have to press two keyboard keys. That is not at all effective, especially in combat. If you want to change commands, or put them on your joystick buttons, follow this: - press "escape" in game - click on "controlls" in the pop-up menue - you'll get a list of various command areas like "combat commands", "wingmen commands" etc. - choose where you want to make changes, click on the command, and then click on "add assignment". It is important to know, that you cannot overwrite an assignment - you have to add an assignment first. Only after doing so, you can delete the previous one. - if you want it to be a joystick command, choose "add assignment", and then click the joystick button.
  23. VonOben, the waypoints sometimes don't work for me, too. Don't know, why. But I think, next waypoint is only "w"? (Or I have changed my profile.) When you have an escort mission, climb up to the two-seaters. They usually turn for their waypoints then. You must only follow them - ignore your own TAC waypoints. If you warp, the two-seaters may be gone, and you'll have to find them again (following your own waypoints, but it is not good that they are elsewhere). Best is to fly higher behind them. That way, you don't loose the sight of them, and you can see enemy flights approaching them. Attack enemies, but don't follow them too far down - let them go. Don't press the "attack" command, cause your wingmen will follow the enemies down to the deck. Better is, to press the "help" command; now your direct wingman will help you more. For the others, it's best to mark enemy planes, that remain high, and press "attack" then. But very often, it ends that way, that everybody is fighting at tree level, and the two-seaters are alone. hope, I didn't confuse you. Have fun!
  24. Although I never was the big Rolling Stones fan, I do like their stuff more over the years. Favourite albums are "Let it bleed", "Beggar's Banquet" and "Exile on Main Street". Now there is a Remaster made of the last. And I read absolutely controverse opinions. Some say, this was the remix/remaster, that brings out the sound as it was meant to be, when it was made: rough and dirty - others say, it was too soft and not rough enough. I can't hear it, since my record player broke down some time ago, and I don't have no CD of it. Now I'm wondering, if I should get the older CD, or the new one? Does anyone here know both versions? And what do you say?
