  1. Well, the visuals are one thing, surely, but the whole way the AI is working and behaving almost human, totally unpredictable - that is a quality 'the other sim' is lacking completely. And the landscapes in WOFF appear much more like northern France than in RoF. The single player campaign quality factor is definitely ten times better in WOFF IMHO.
  2. Yes, I hope so - but I have not received that many names yet. Keep them coming, guys!
  3. Yeah, that was strange - the DownUnder map was in there, but not shown. I hope it is "repaired" now - pls check again, bert.
  4. I often fly back to home base quite low, to enjoy the beautiful landscapes. Mind you - watching your six is elementary for survival.
  5. All who are new to OFF and/or WOFF, and who are not yet on our OFF Forum Pilots Maps, may please send me a private message with their town and country/state - I will then add you there on the weekend. If you are new to the map room; the maps are here: http://combatace.com/topic/44370-off-forum-pilots-maps/?do=findComment&comment=315225
  6. You'd be amazed, how many old books you can find with ABEBOOKS.com
  7. It was on our side. And I couldn't do it anyway - I love the old steam trains!
  8. ...and the hardcopies are here: http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?an=Robert+Reece&sts=t&tn=night+bombing+with+the+Bedouins
  9. Just had a successful intercept mission with only 3 Albatros D.II northeast of Luneville, Lorraine. (My wingman and I each shot down 1 Nieuport 23 - well, these were flown by absolute neophytes; poor basterds...) However - I lost contact to my men and went back to our field (Bühl-Lorraine) quite low. I followed the railway (the new map with the roads and rails was really helpful), and suddenly I saw smoke on the track: my first WOFF-train appeared. I had to make a picture...
  10. Well, as one of the co-founders and the - aerhm... - damn, I always forget what my position is in the club; was it vice president? - I am here regularly. But I agree; activity is very low recently. I guess everyone is trying hard to achieve anything worth reporting with the new sim, which is in some ways more realistic, and thereby harder. Give them time, Corsaire. The long winter also takes it's toll - with coming spring, I guess, everybody will come out of their ground holes again. Our president Lou is very busy workwise, and in his spare time working on a wonderful, huge WOFF Verdun Area Map, for which he actually fliesover all areas and makes aerial "photos", which he then compiles and uses as a basis.
  11. Great idea - I'll have three pints of their best bitter!
  12. You mean, you are also just only starting with WOFF, Corsaire? Me too - I haven't been able to fly much recently, but after Patch 1.15 the Albatros behaviour seems improved to me, and I have four pilots waiting for me to fly them. I hope to hear more of your deeds; I'll report of mine here soon.
  13. Well, the Jasta often made their unit recognisable by the colours on the tailplane. Jasta 28w had a yellow tailplane with two longitudinal black stripes. Your taiplane looks close to Jasta 19's.
  14. Beautiful, Hauksbee! Or maybe rather: threatening! (Jasta 19 ?)
  15. Bonne chance, Francois!
  16. Ha, that's a new perspective - good shot, Corsaire!
  17. Jim, the new pilot enlisment in WOFF is just great, as it would send you where the brass think you should be useful. But like so many here, you may have overlooked the "button" in the low right corner - something like "enlist manually". There you can select everything yourself, scroll through squadrons and time - as it was in OFF.
  18. Lou, you're mad indeed - would we otherwise get on so well with each other here?
  19. I use FIREFOX, but that doesn't seem to work for me. Thanks for the link, ulti!
  20. PS: for some reason, I cannot save the map graphic from this post. If I right-click on it, it will only grow larger, but I get no "save graphic". Am I overlooking something?
  21. Ah, alright - understood.
  22. Great, Lou, thank you for the expansation - Jasta 17, one of my favourite Jasta, lay in Metz-Frescaty for some time. Which brings me to a possible error: the airfield Metz-Frescaty is S-SW of Metz - you can find it in GoogleMaps. Could the WW1 field have been so far away?
  23. An additional sidenote: that famous ALL-red Fokker Dr. I was only flown by MvR since short before his death. Previously his triplanes had never been all red. But the one the Entente captured was the one to become the "template" for all films to follow.
  24. Well, at least it is about "time warp" in a way... Mmuahahahahaaa!!!
  25. I'm trying hard to learn the new Albatros behaviour, and it's tough. But now I read, the devs will look into and improve the FMs for those types. Thank god (and Pol and Winder) I say - it was really hard. I made two skins, but nothing special - just colour bands. When I'm getting on with the flying and fighting, I may do better ones and show them.
