  1. Today I could do some flying, and although I'm still having problems running the sim on my system, I could make two sorties. And I must say: LOVELY! The new AI behaves quite different from OFF. I noticed the following: - only 1 from 4 DH-5 decided to have a go at me and came down, while the others flew home - a single SPAD which was chasing Rudolf Windisch's Albatros D.V pissed off, when I fired after him. He didn't turn and attack me - he flew away from us in a 90° angle, and I let him go. He might have been tired, hungry, or was hit wounded? However - Windisch and I returned to base alone. I had this great feeling again, that we describe by "immersion"!
  2. Good point, Dej - I agree... - except for the Gin; you can have that all for yourself, if you like. (I will sit next to Lou and try all the sorts of beers and ales he tries - he has much more experience with British ales and beer. Of course, if you want to join us... - you could move over to the Gin later?)
  3. Maybe you can reduce the sizes with PAINT or another free program.
  4. What "exclusive society" do you mean, Duke - "WOFFlers" (which is not yet a confirmed title for a society made up of WOFF flyers); or do you mean the "Barmy OFFers Club"? As I have a certain reputation there, and am a (hopefully) well-respected Vice-President (or so I think my title was) - aerhhm... - what was I going to say? Ah, the membership, yes... ("Can I have a Director's Bitter, quick? - Thank you!" Gulp! Gulp! Gulp! "Aaahh!!") ..now, aerh - where was I? Ahem - yes, I hereby vote for this man, who isn't only barmy enough to spend some of his valuable lifetime around here (and even gives barmy answers on even barmier questions), but who is also so barmy to call himself DukeIronHand, aerhhh... ("Can you fill this pint again?") ...ahem - yes, I vote for making him a member of the "Barmy OFFers Club". Lou and Dej - I think you will confirm this vote - after all he should have been with us since a long time.
  5. Ulti, click on "More reply options" at the bottom right - then you should see an attachment thingy at the bottom left.
  6. Geeze, Lou - I hope you are not heading for a marriage crisis over Christmas with that project! It looks very good, Sir! All I'd change is the grey - a friendly Chamois might work wonders?
  7. Couldn't try it out yet really, Fortiesboy, but welcome back, old chap! You may want to read also on the new "Wings Over Flanders Fields" forum here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/372/1/Wings_Over_Flanders_Fields
  8. Lou, I have no idea how good (or bad) your map may be looking in the end, but it sounds like a lot of work (and eye-drops). However - if it should turn out to look great - maybe you can make it a present to OBD, and they can perhaps make use of it, maybe build it in to the sim? The inflight map is so far my own major concern - it offers no terrain details; it is solely filled with strategic symbols. Maybe that could be changed in a future version, or in a later WOFF II ?
  9. Ha, that would be funny - I'd watch it just for that reason, if you were.
  10. After some first problems with the "hardware outside the computer" (me), I have now enlisted for a two "campaign-attempt pilots", with Jasta 32b and with Jasta 15. The first is for training WOFF under lighter (non-Flanders) conditions; the second, cause I wanted to fly an Albatros D.III in summer seventeen. From what I read they may not last long. I will only start a REALLY serious campaign, when I believe I can fly my WOFF birds well. Then I will firstly go through training and a two-seater part, before I try to transfer. For Jim: If you select "Workshops" > "Remap keys" > "Combat commands", you see the buttons/keys for "gunner seat". I guess the gunner position may not work with TrackIR (not sure though). You should switch through all the views (F1 - F4), to see when you can use the gun and aim (using the mouse, I guess).
  11. I'm with Shredward here -although mine would be a TVAL-built Albatros D.V.
  12. Tried only Albatros planes so far. When I take off (as the last pilot), I can usually climb higher than the AI and keep up with them. Only after a while they seem to do that more perfectly. So, my advice would be: climb higher at the beginning, and while they come up, you climb in a more shallow angle to allow you good enough forward speed. That did the trick for me. If you find yourself loosing contact to them, try firstly to remain with them in a vertical line; only after that is done, you could climb - step by step. I call it "staircasing". You pull your kite up and climb a little, then level the nose with horizon to gain full forward speed again - then you make the next step, and so on. It works fine for me. Another chance to catch up with them is to cut off a part of the course they follow.
  13. "Expolsions? Der Enemy muszt hav a new Weapon?!"
  14. Blackadder, you may not buy WOFF at this price - but how can you judge it to be overprized when you haven't got it? Just wondering...
  15. Well, I guess you have the military knowledge and education, which I don't have, but I agree - an attack on Russian heartland is like "running empty" sooner or later. The supply lines and territory that must be held is just getting overstretched.
  16. Flying a 'Quirk', eyh? Mmuahahahaaa!!!
  17. WOFF seems to have all new, more realistic FMs, Shiloh. At least that's what I felt in my first attempts. I envy all who find the time to take a good deep plunge into WOFF over Xmas. I will only really be able to explore it in the new year.
  18. The story sounds good and believeable to me. Even if it was not a major reason for the stoppage, it shows one thing clearly: the Germans had no idea at all about the Russian winter. In Germany we have a climate like France and England - it is influenced by the Gulf Stream, which flows all the way from the Gulf of Mexico to south of Island or so, where the cooling-off water sinks lower and floats back south. It is like a production line, transporting warmth to Europe. The Russians have a so-called "continental climate". That is nicely warm in summer, but biting cold in winter. No source of warmth from anywhere. If you don't know such a climate, you need to ask someone who does. The Germans should have asked their befriended Finns about this - those fellers know how hard winters can be. But it seems they didn't.
  19. Andy, do I get that right - you have a PayPal account, but you had no money on it, and so you didn't use PayPal? PayPal is exactly there for such transfers. You can pay anyone via PayPal even without money on your PP account. PayPal will then take that money from your bank account.
  20. AVANGATE is an international company as far as I can see. http://www.avangate.com/about-us/ All such problems have only arisen AFTER the last financial crashes. The banker-type people mistrust each other, it seems - and they will know why...
  21. Though I didn't have any money on my PayPal account, I could pay via PP; they booked it off my bank account.
  22. That is a very beautiful scenic and athmospheric screeny, Lou!
  23. Yeah, good point, Robert - I guess I made the mistake to think it was like OFF. But now I will approach WOFF like a completely NEW sim - which I guess it is.
  24. I would try that out, but I'm afraid to run into another Englishman, while I look back...
  25. Haha! Well, it may becalm you - I just tried out an Albatros D.II vs a Pup, and I had to realise that I didn't know this craft. The Albatros I mean. It behaved totally unknown to me, and I will have to learn to fly it again.
