Albatros DI flown by Prince Friedrich Karl von Preußen. He commanded Fliegerabteilung (Artillerie) 258, an artillery spotting unit, but flew patrols in a single-seat fighter with Jasta Boelcke whenever possible. He was shot down in 1917 whilst flying this machine, he crashed only lightly wounded, but unfortunately was shot in the back by Australian troops, whilst trying to escape from the area, unfortunately he died later from this wound. I am actually surprised that no one else has made this skin, especially as we now have the most excellent Albatos DI from Stephen 1918, but anyhow, I have done one. There is a great deal of speculation concerning this particular aircraft, there is only really one decent photo of it, after she was captured, however the wings have been removed, so only the fuselage is clearly visable, so, there are many discussions and musings over the correct scheme for this Albatros, the general concensus is that the fuselage was painted a light grey green colour, however as no colour photos were de riguer at this period of time, we can only guess at the correct shade, so I have used an approxomate colour. there is also mass discussion and beard wagging, in respect of the wings. ( as no photos I am aware of show these , the question is a bit academic in my view ) the popular belief is that the aircraft was painted over all the same colour ie. light grey green, but there are those who firmly believe that the wings were standard camouflage pattern , so, to forstall any rivet counters out there, I have included and alternative skin WITH the camo wings and stabiliser, personally I think it looks better in the overall colour, but thats just my opinion. There is also some question over the colour of the Totenkopf insignia, or rather the backing colour, some people insist it is red, whilst others (myself included) believe it would in fact be black , as the Totenkopf badge is that of the Brunswick Hussars, and the badge was worn on a black cap, anyhow, to stop the red affectionados, I have also included that as well ( I'm good to you lot aren't I ? ) there are 2 Data.Ini files as well, the original which came as Stephen 1918 made it, and the updated one from Von S, with the FM by Ocjar, and the hit boxes modded by my good friend Nick Bell, so choos which one you like, the Von S one is the better of the two in my opinion. I have also included the sound files I use, and the guns, which again are by Von S, ( I have put the early Spandau lmg 08 on as this would be correct ) I have used the Merc 120 sound file although this aircraft actually had a 160 , I just think it fits in better for the time period. Finally (sorry been blabbing on here ) I have used a pilot made by the marvellous Mr Geezer ( plead make more pilots !! ) I have just faffed about with it a bit but he looks the part !! Right, I think that covers everything, no doubt I have missed out some important bit of info.....but hey ho, such is life !! Thanks to Sephen 1918 for making the aircraft in the first place, and thanks to the other fore mentioned good souls, who make life easy for me, as they doo all the really hard work. ENJOY !!! -

Mirage 2000 pilot interview: Cutting it in the ‘Electric Cakeslice’
Trotski replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
I guess it all depends on the pilot , I am not an F-16 o'phile by any stretch of the imagination, but that is purely on looks I guess, I just love the Dassault bureau aircraft, they look deliciously French, also I am a big fan of SAAB's , 16's and 15's aren't on my all time favourite list, although they are damn fine aircraft.......and well proven too, but.......all I can say is......Mirage........nuff said -

Gotta love Mirages !! even if a 16 can eat 'em for brekkies. -
Hmmm not a fan of the F-35, yes it has some good features, the weapon system etc. is second to none, however the Aircraft is a bit of a Frankenstein, as it doesnt seem to really do any job brilliantly. as for close in knife fighting, against a Russian aircraft, I think it would lose ......lots. beside which it one ugly S.O.B. and the old pilots adage of "if it looks right, it flies right" certainly doesn't apply to this overpriced, and over complicated piece of junk.......And god help us, the RAF has them....oh joy.

A problem with Loadouts in certain aircraft.....
Trotski replied to SkyStrike's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Did you check the loadout.ini as well, sometimes these are blank, and if so , no default loads will be loaded pre mission. -

HOW can I add?
Trotski replied to kurdistan1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
it would be easier to make the whole thing from the ground up I would have thought, scabbing bits on may be a bit messy, and also wont work properly, not that I'm any kind of expert. -

Any interest in a modern fictional campaign for my Angola terrain?
Trotski replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
I agree with Yakarov, why would South america even be there, I dont imagine there is much influence in africa from Latin America, I think the talk about Israelis being involved, was more as a wild geese kind of thing, or maybe Israeli airforce and aircraft industry advisors there coverting the Airforce on to Kfirs and Neshers........more likeley to be European influence if there was a UN type deal going on, it would be nice to not see US and Brit involvement at all for a change......So, Portugese/Spanish in the 80's you have loveley Ginas, and Matadors, plus didnt Rohdesia have Ginas too ? oh, and Jags........Nigerian Jags.......smashin' stuff !! loads of possibilities -

Trotski replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Turkey ?....."SHUDDER" .......also as Angola is an ex Portugese territory, may not they maybe have a vested interest there ? some F-16s and Alpha Jets, or Ginas if you wanted to go a bit earlier ? -
take off issue
Trotski replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
AHHH the dark and mysterious shennanigans of AI !! akin to the AI exploding on take off mod......all wonderous stuff, and not a question I can answer as this heretical and dark ju ju is not my area of expertise, however just wanted to comment. I am sure one of the more learned members can answer this query, as they are sunk deep in the dark arts of FM's and other such imfamy.......I'm going to go and eat cake now .....- 1 reply

Hmmmm sounds interesting, Maybe aid from Sweden ? Be nice to see some Viggens/Drakens/Gripens in theatre, Argentine involvement is interesting, but as Viggen says, the availability of Mirage/Fingers is an issue, however some Pucaras maybe ? and some Skyhawks....just a thought.....late model Scooters using the k model from the DLC pack.......just adding my two penny worth. -
B-29 tail gunner.
Trotski replied to TheWarrior's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
First off, are you using a pilot figure that faces backwards ? if you use a regular figure, he will be facing forwards, and thus may not be showing up, I assume, that you have put the figure in the correct place in the DATA.ini , and assuming that you have, then are the positional cooords correct, and have you used the models actual name ?. it would help if you posted up the DATA.ini part that points to this issue, as there may be some slight discrepancy , where you have added the figure. -

I use spybot and malware bytes , as sometimes one picks up something the other misses, CCleaner is a must have too

Depends what you use your pc for, if you use it for serious stuff, work related etc. then I would say what Fubar says is pretty much the right way to go, however, if like me, you use it mainly for gaming and non essential stuff, I use the microsoft security, as I dont need a higher level of protection, plus its free, I would however say to add in Ccleaner, Malwarebytes, Spybot, asa minimum.....( and all free....so an added bargain for me as I'm a tight wad hahahaha)

Ahhh shit mate !........all I can say is , stick with it bud, if I can beat the bastard Big C, so can you matey !!

I think the best thing to do, is uninstall it all, then re download from 3rd wire again, then only apply the Jul 2010 update, if it isnt already part of the 3rd wire install, I can remember if it is or not as it was a long while ago I purchased it myself......but as you dont have any add ons installed, I would go down the uninstall - reinstall route, when you have done that, start the game up, and see if it tells you in game that it is at the jul 2010 patch or not ( it will show in the bottom right corner of your loading screen ) if it doesnt show then download the jul 2010 patch and install, like I said dont apply any of the FE 1 patches, as those are not applicable.....let me know how you get on
