bpao is terrific. btw...notice the mesh of concern is named "Objet" and not (presumably) "Object" so beware that even among the hardcore 3D modding set, misspellings are made, from time to time. Oddities like that you always keep in mind when examining the OUT or LOD files. -- Wrench_ok Yea that _ok thing is an odd one. But it seems to *always* make things work.

The Case of the Contraband Corned Beef Sandwich
Lexx_Luthor replied to Dave's topic in Military and General Aviation
Oh I don't know. Young went on walkabout, so apparently it wasn't that bad a career move. The discussion is funny though, and it seems, indicates that the NASA rules for that time were there for a good reason. I'd guess though that NASA coulda shoulda relaxed the rules and worked with their crews to experiment with real foods. NASA should have known something like this would happen. Thanks for this Dave. -
Soul:: Ouch, your shiny silver 104 is turning FLAT BLACK under daytime sun at high altitude. Soot from the rocket exhaust? Soul, poast your HighAlt enviro block here, and we'll fix that or you should be able to fix it (I only have SF1). (or just set the HighAlt block lighting modifier variables to = 1 )

This is SF-1 forum. As for bomber/strike AI flying straight all the time when under attack, that was early SF1, right? I know in SF1 2008, aircraft started to turn to avoid AAMs (but not gun attacks). I thought this was an interesting improvement to the game but went back to 2006 before I explored it further. Has the AI improved in this respect further in SF2?

Okay okay I bless I bless already

Interesting. I recall wondering if spelling out "Effect" was needed, but apparently it was not required when I did this years ago, but seemed more of a modding convention -- way of doing things. Have you edited all possible combinations of using or not spelling out "Effect" ? Did all this stuff work before EXP2?

No. Underside view. The Nozzle--Brake panels are like the other rectangular panels I had you add, and are *just* beneath the stab trailing edges, horizontal orientation, on both Left and Right of fuselage. None of your screens so far show this area clearly. None of them. You had done those L&R panels already from other sources. The ones I pointed out all happen to be Left only (or they are fuselage BOTTOM...ahh...decal placement language ). Panels look done unless you want to add those nozzle/brake panels under the L&R stabs, or make your own small panels on the lower mid-fuselage according to that sketch note just to fill out the skin undersides.
-
You can let go now....almost I didn't "see this" earlier but the diagram has "(L&R)" on some panel labels meaning both Left and Right. Nothing I added to your screen shots have L&R, so they are all Left only. You are good to go. We got everything, except, possibly: I don't think I have a screen shot where you show under the extreme tail end. The diagram shows one small horizontally elongated panel just beneath the stabilizer trailing edge, along the fuselage side. It is... Nozzle actuator & speed brake cylinder access (L&R) ...it has (L&R) so its Left and Right so if you don't have that already use it as it can help fill both sides.

Hold on...

AWSIM..!! About the diagam. Its from Republic Aviation and comes with small inset sketches of mechs working on the plane, missiles, radar dish, engine removed, etc.... It looks like a sell piece made to USAF, advertising ease of maintencence. The engine door note I quoted is part of the advertisement, indicating what's not pictured, and is one of several isolated notes on the diagram that relate to the little mech activity sketchs. I don't know if any of this even made it to the mockup.
-
Yes, squiggly lines are more than enough especially at these speeds. I figured you wanted to know each panel's purpose, just for knowing's sake on your art.
-
Fixed the pic with the fuel filler ~> http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d178/Lexx_Luthor/Stuff/ze5--2.jpg You could make your own panels on the large engine doors, help fill out the other side maybe. You are the operational F-103 designer now.
-
Ya its a port side diagram. The plane at this level was just a paper plane, so maybe additional panels for other things on the other side. This may be of interest...the diagram shows no panels on the big engine compartment door...however... These smaller doors are not shown.
-
Oh, about that. I dunno if the side panels are all on one side only, or some may have duplicates on the other side. ACK, dumb dumb !!! I mixed up two diagram lines: the panel you already did on first pic above is not "Aft landing gear doors" Its a door for..... "Filler -- pressure fueling system" Told ya I'd confuse. I come through every time!

Eric that's superb. The circular ARA-25 panel, is of larger diameter than the width of the rectangular APN-71 panel (in English, the circular panel can be a bit larger) More stuff ~> http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d178/Lexx_Luthor/Stuff/ze5.jpg and ~> http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d178/Lexx_Luthor/Stuff/ze3.jpg I'll look for more, or fix up any confusion I make.

Time pilot, who flew so fast, he went back in time.
-
Yea, just the panel outlines, no other details in the drawing. More up later.
-
Okay, first try at this. Panels will be red. Geometry reference lines will be blue. I can't draw. That's AN/APN-71 antenna access panel. All antenna or electronic access panels except the AS/ARA-25 are AN/... click ~> http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d178/Lexx_Luthor/Stuff/ze8.jpg Obviously, these are rough sizes and locations. Size and Place to Taste relative to your current skin lines. If you would like labels for the panels you already got nailed riveted down, I can add them.
-
Okay
-
There is a line drawing of the F-108 and it has dozens of little access panels. You already have done alot of the top panels, for example the little squares on the wing, tail, stab leading edges are for getting at de-icing valves, the big squares you made along top are for fuel. There's a bunch of very small panels on the lower fuselage, mostly behind the inlet where the maint fellas would have easy access. A few panels on and (mostly) under the nose. Radome hinges sideways. If you want, I might could photo-chop your screenshots, upload it, to show where things go.

Toryu:: Could be. I've also read at f-16net (thanks MiGBuster) a pilot saying that F-104 was very easy to maintain. Okay, I'll guess that the F-5's primary design advantage is ease of use for allied nations. Is this Correct Thinking? I like thinking about this...F-5 vs F-104...thanks to both of you for bringing it up. Maybe it would be a great Another Thread, for one thing, I'm poking about for, in the computer game, an inexpensive additional option for protecting deep tanker flights. F-104 would be able to respond more quickly to approaching threats. How about endurance? No matter, both will be involved at one time or another since both are "nifty" planes. Should I do a thread on this if ya'll are into it? If not, a J-20 thread might be okay.

...up until early last year. I got a 4850 in spring 2010. I only have SF1 now, but I can offer moral support. :good: I need to know what you see wrong, or don't see at all.
-
What are you seeing or not seeing? Some SF2 players here have told me it works in SF2, and I've seen screenshots. Don't know about the current EXP2 level game though. How long ago did you download it? Some months back I updated the nuc download (and some others) to include two tga files that I didn't include earlier. The two files, years back, were included in the most popular weapon pack, but that changed. Keep in touch. I really ought to get SF2 just so I can update some of my stuff. I *finally* got a really good video card and if I had to do things over, I'd do things different and better. I used ATI-9200 up until early this year. That's sad.

Jedi:: mmm, I've kinda wondered if Vista threw TK a bad curve ball, like I think it did to other software developers. That's a wild guess however.

Poll: Choose the next SF2 Expansion Pack plane!
Lexx_Luthor replied to Crusader's topic in General Discussion
Jedi:: TK picked a good coverbutt name: Strike Fighters. I've always wondered about A-6. It really was a bonus, but that was Wings Over Vietnam and A-6 had wings, so... Now, why did he limit the (stock) cockpit view settings to block the view out the right canopy window? Its so immersive looking out the right window at wingmen, even if there is no pilot there...which is not so bad as he would just block the view anyways. Great cockpit too, one of my Thudwire faves. Another good coverbutt name was Pacific Fighters. If I recall, that's exactly what it was; fighters.
