  1. ack@#$&* I'm starting this thing over. Somehow the first time I lost mountain detail in the Himalayas. I want it back.
  2. Silverbolt, that makes more sense now. Both rulers had become an instrument of western desired "stability" in the region. The Nightwatch fella seems to indicate that Mubarak as a figurehead can leave but the same Egyptian military regime remains either in power or to guide things peacefully to an "acceptable" civilian rule. I'm guessing that with the greater violence, Daffy's situation may be different, so maybe we don't know what to do. I'm guessing Daffy can't just step down now and live to tell about it.
  3. Wow, 4km deep, that's just like right under your feets.
  4. More Libyian diplomats jumping ship ~> http://english.aljazeera.net/news/africa/2011/02/201122275739377867.html
  5. Yea maybe... Mish's take on Libyan ambassadors abandoning G/Q adaf(f)i [sp?]... ~> http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2011/02/warplanes-militia-fire-on-libyan.html
  6. lod in catfile, so that's not it. MiG-17F.ini:: Make sure you have the ".lod" on the end, and correct [lod00N] numbers, and ordered distances. twisty~pit => cockpit.ini ViewAngle maybe. Try 0,0,0 if not already. If I recall, 08 make view go BOOM BOOM Beyond that, describe the situation carab you are having in like max detail.
  7. Looks great, downloading now!!!
  8. Man that's weird. According to that telegraph, the mercs are (my interpretation) basically doing a Chekist~esque terror by massacre campaign. I do like the tele's take on this... A British-based Libyan, Ahmed,...::
  9. Higher, like Wrench's 0.55. I always used 0.75 as a nice number. ---- Also -- I think, kinda -- sun light level in Enviro effects this. Also effects how fast moon and stars come out. Or one of those variables. I haven't played with this in a while. Maybe the game sees it as... cockpit light value < sun light level ... if TRUE then lights turn on. Or something like that. This is sad. I used to know all this stuff.
  10. Go Rambler. streak, why don't you get pilot lic now, or in future?
  11. ...and Wellcome back Jug ...just in time for Happy Birthday
  12. Happy Birthday Jug!!!
  13. Sid, are you using mirrors? What are you using for computer and video card? I doubt the tint is causing this. -- F-14A MF -- this is an old download, is there a newer SF2 F-14MF? For this model I have downloaded some time ago, the main canopy "glass" is tinted with the two tga files in the Cockpit folder... reflection reflection_front Just rename the files. Don't delete them, you might want them back. Consider renaming these files as the game's on/off option for canopy "glass" or "reflection" which sadly has never worked for 3rd party mods (or even some Thudwire aircraft like A-6). The front armoured glass, tinted blue, is so nicely done, I'd keep it. They did a great job on this one. The "glass" is minimal tint except for the armoured glass, which is as it should be. Very thick stuff. To delete the armoured glass, I bet its inside the cockpit 3D model and some part must be found to move it. That can probably be done, bu I suggest keeping it, as it looks fantastic. And like I said, I doubt its the tint or its mesh causing performance problems.
  14. Most likely its a mesh that can be moved out of the way. I'll take a look. :good: Butt, it probably won't help framerate. I bet what you saw was turning off cockpit made the tint go away and you get faster frames. That framerate hit is coming from the whole cockpit, not the "glass."
  15. Great idea Balt. I always thought the mountainous terrain of Kamchatka would make a nice background for a north-south air campaign. Kinda like Korea, but shifted over to Kam, maybe a few years later for shiny silver F-100s and MiG-19s, and high altitude Sidewinders. Lets just say, I love the Kamchatka height field.
  16. Sunset Over Linate -- A Gulfstream Jetprop taxiing under the setting sun -- really stands out. I love shots like this. I really should get a good camera. I'm fantastic with setting up shots, with other souls' cameras, but I have nothing more than a really low quality basic cell phone that happens to take pics, but oh man the shots I get are great. S, see if you can setup some sunset shots and wait for when airplanes reflect sunlight, either flying or sitting. That's my fave effect. Don't forget sunrise too!!!
  17. This could be a Worst Airplane Scene thread. My worst is in, I think, the movie Fail Safe, where they send fighters (F-102 but I may be wrong) to help somebody (don't know, don't care) and a controller orders the fighters to go to afterburner. They cut to the fighters launching rockets. That was supposed to be going into afterburner. Like FC, I stopped watching the movie at that point. I had extreme difficulty getting that far.
  18. Other shots of that. I searched tube for "rocket sundog" and got these... ~> http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=rocket+sundog&aq=f
  19. streak, it seems, that's a new one, never been seen before by anybody, well according to what I read anyways. What happened was a sun dog, ring around the sun, got "evaporated" by the rocket's shock wave. The shock randomized the ice crystal orientation. In the sun dogs, the crystals align aerodynamically as they fall and so act together collectively on to make sunlight into rainbow colours (say like DVD surface -- ah sorta). But with all the crystals shocked into random orientation, the effect vanished. Well that's what they said anyways.
  20. Not bad at all. If you look at the snow~boarder action (well ignore that) and look toward the sun, just above is a portion of a contrail hanging in the sky, and you can zoom in on it. Not content with that, but stretching across the entire sky on the sunside is a more faint but much wider "old" (even ancient) persistent contrail sheet turned to cirrus. I love skies like this. Thanks!!
  21. baff:: mmm .. SID are you running non-stock clip distances in your Flightengine.ini? I always used to have flickering problems because my weirdo mods required radically ramped clip distances. I fixed that by painting airfields on tiles and did away with LODs (and nobody makes primitive hard-to-see "frontline" airfield LODs). But I just tried a stock LOD and, well, no more flickering. Maybe it was my old 9200 video card. I dunno. -- WRENCH:: Something new (maybe) and major for me. In TE, have you noticed at high zoom levels, you can center the mouse cursor in the screen and press down on the scroll wheel, and a little arrow appears and you can do very fine scrolling navigation with mouse position? I always had problems in my larger maps (10,000km+) where at high zoom levels the scroll bar navigation was not suitable -- skips over too much terrain or the scroll control snaps back to its origin. Now this mouse nav works great even at the highest zoom on my largest maps. I am so happy.
  22. pre--ww2 sounds different got Link?
