In-flight chat text colours
Menrva replied to Menrva's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Unfortunately no, it has nothing to do with that .ini. Logic says such parameter should be in the hud.ini, but I can only find the following that apply to in-flight dialog: NormalColor=1.0,1.0,1.0,1.0 (white for common messages) WarningColor1=1.0,1.0,0.0,1.0 (yellow for warnings towards your flight) WarningColor2=1.0,0.0,0.0,1.0 (red for warnings towards your aircraft) I know this already, yubba, I made several changes to target boxes. You can change the color with the following parameter: BoxColor=1.0,1.0,1.0,0.75 First three numbers are RGB (Red-Green-Blue) colours, fourth value is transparency. 1.0 is equivalent to 255 in programs like Paint. Choose a colour in some painting software. Let's say that your custom colour has a Red value of 223, you simply divide 223 by 255, and you have the value to put in the BoxColor parameter. I hope this is useful to you. Back to topic, I think I'll give up, it really seems it is hardcoded, I have looked everywhere. Damned TK always locking things up! -
CTD - Ground Map Mode on Multiple Aircraft
Menrva replied to TheStig's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Among the things that Ground Map mode uses are the _HM.bmp files; I have reason to believe that they are the behind the CTDs. Just thinking out loud. -
Iraq, Western Asia (1980-2003)
Menrva replied to Menrva's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad that the bug you experienced with the early version of the terrain is no longer present. Trees have been removed from certain tiles, since there are rough mountains, and they would look bad. I hope that in the future some artists manage to make a whole new tileset for it, with better TODs. BTW, with little modding knowledge this terrain can be made to work with Spudknocker's campaigns, since this one is also a better-looking version with the plus that Iran's got new SAM sites which were totally missing from the early version.- 25 replies

Sure thing. I noticed that the India-Pak terrain suffers from similar mistakes too. The Pakistani capital is a bit off in its current location, etc., but IIRC targets are not so off from their Real World locations. The terrain I made seriously needed a facelift in this regard, so I'm happy to hear that you guys like it. It took me a lot of free time, effort, blood, sweat and tears, just to make it closer to the Real World.

Thirdwire terrain editor palette
Menrva replied to Peugeot205's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
EDIT: ops, sorry, my bad, you were asking about the tile map import, which I never tried. I hope you find the following about height map bitmap import useful, anyway. Check the following statements inside the TerrainEditor.ini [bitmapImport] HeightScale=22 MinLandHeight=0 HeightScale makes a huge difference. I had to set it at 22, otherwise my Iraq terrain would have had wrong altitudes for mountains etc. Each terrain has its perfect value. So I suggest that you check the original EAW map in TFDtool, there you can see the heightmap value of each tile. Focus on the one who is more red (the higher altitude). Import the bitmap in the TerrainEditor and check with TFDtool. If you get similar altitudes it's okay, if the altitudes you get are lower, you should increase the HeightScale value and reimport the bitmap again and recheck with TFDtool. It's time consuming, but worth it. Oh, BTW, you can also take real height values for reference. For instance, you can use Google Earth to get the values of altitudes you might want. Sometimes, you get an already "wrong" HFD to work with, meaning that altitudes are wrong, mountains are flat after certain values, etc.. The less you mod the HFD, the better, because reworking an HFD too many times might get to the point that the terrain won't be realistic. Another big suggestion, do not import and then export the same bitmap multiple times, because each time it loses quality and detail. Make your own bitmap file, and when you think it's okay, just focus on the HeightScale value in the TerrainEditor.ini. -
GermanyCE missing SAM sites - BUG - Important!
Menrva replied to Snailman's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Jackpot! What can I say, you discovered a bug that is present on almost all terrains. I have a very huge mod folder with many terrains. Same ActiveYear setting of 1965. It's totally pointless that it is present. Even ActiveYear=0 should do, as long as SAM objects have their own Service Year statements correctly added. -
Iran-Iraq war
Menrva replied to Centurion-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Standalone terrain package has been uploaded, waiting for admin approval... Unlike the one included in Spudknocker's Iran-Iraq war mod package, this terrain has additional features and eye-candy stuff. You can use the newest release in place of the old one in said mod package, as long as you mod campaign files to fit the new naming conventions of the terrain itself and some of its targets. -
I usually hate things that become viral over the internet; however, there is a new series of funny videos on YouTube; countries try to promote themselves to Trump's America, to gain second place in the standings. Here I begin with my country:

Haha! Good to know! I am also of Dutch descent in some ways, well, not really; my great-grandfather was Dutch but moved to Italy. I guess it's the beauty of living in Europe.

Baltika's Georgia Terrain?
Menrva replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
It's quite some time, I hope Baltika is well and all, he's been important to the SF community, his terrains are some of the best available. -
Or better, there are no facts, only opinions at this point. Truth is worth less than shit these days. People prefer to close eyes other than to open them, to believe in lies made to cover rivers of tears and blood. Questionable IQ? I didn't know such a thing ever existed. Although I would recommend Trump & Co. for a nice mental health check in a good clinic. Those who claim to be very smart (like Trump) are more insecure than they happen to show on the stage. Nowadays, if you show some honest self-doubt you are regarded as a weak individual. Don't, and you're the king, although a reckless and inept one.

She didn't misspoke, she clearly stated that it happened but it didn't get covered during the Obama administration; it's way different than Trump's 7/11 or Obama's 57 states, which instead are clear examples of misspeaking in the middle of a speech. Here's more info and the video where she stated it: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-38857216 She later wrote on Twitter that she wanted to say "terrorists", I suggest that you change the word "massacre" with the one she meant; the phrase doesn't make sense. She gave blatant proof she is a liar, plain and simple. People are free to believe to alternate facts. It already happened in history, when millions believed that Jews were monsters and had to be interned in concentration camps, and so on... I don't think Trump will be crazy enough to invade a country, though. But things are heating up with Iran, China and Yemen. If there is something that the news aren't covering, that is the new military ops Trump has ordered in Yemen; CENTCOM confirmed the death of civilians during a helo strike. But it's them, not us, who gives a f*ck, right? Those who don't read the news because they are all BS, I hope are the same ones who didn't believe that charade of Bush Jr. justifying the war in Iraq back in 2003.

Iran-Iraq war
Menrva replied to Centurion-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Oh my... It's pure gold, jeanba! Thanks! -
Damn, I had to google it because I didn't know what the thread was about. Well, let's not forget about Trump's 7/11 either. I am wondering what the f*ck is wrong with Uncle Sam...

Iran-Iraq war
Menrva replied to Centurion-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Good call, but I just checked the .ini files I have, and all airfields have said statements. I too think it's a z-fighting problem, but most likely due to the _data.ini. @jeanba, I can't check the terrain in Spud's mod ATM, so I decided to attach an alternative _data.ini from my standalone terrains; beware that other types of bugs can appear, let me know. Iran-IraqWA_DATA.zip -
Me too, streakeagle. "Vera" almost makes me cry each time I listen it. Roger Waters makes such powerful songs. The song alludes to the loss of his father during WW2, and how Lynn's words "we'll meet again, some sunny day" never materialized for him.

Iran-Iraq war
Menrva replied to Centurion-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
I can't check ATM, so I appreciate all the help I can get. Spudknocker, if you can, please check it for me. I must admit it's one of the strangest bugs I've ever seen. Most likely it is due to shaders and some parameters in the _data.ini. My standalone terrains contain some tweaks to shaders (I am using some of mue's reworked shaders). Terrain modders, I am open to all suggestions. I am sure it's not due to the heightmap. The airfields are all flattened. The issue must be the _data.ini I think. jeanba, thanks for posting. When I regain some free time, I'll finish my work on the standalone terrains, and all bugs should be gone. Apart from usual bugs, the terrain contains quite many details; so pilots are also advised to look for landmarks and an important dam in Iraq! -
Iran-Iraq war
Menrva replied to Centurion-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Hmm, strangely it doesn't happen to other users as far as I know. Make sure you have the following textures in the terrain folder: TEROBJECT_BUILDINGS1.bmp TEROBJECT_BUILDINGS2.bmp TEROBJECT_TREES1.tga TEROBJECT_TREES2.tga You should have them though, so I have no idea why it happens. The _data.ini should be correct. When the standalone terrains are ready, I'm curious to see if the bug happens. -
Iran-Iraq War Terrain/Campaign

Really? I took great care in order to avoid trees in bases. If you can, post a list of the ones you've seen affected, I might have missed something. -
Iran-Iraq War Terrain/Campaign
Menrva replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
You're right Spud, in fact I am a bit stupid recently, you would have noticed about it after all, during all the campaigns' testing. Makes me think that the terrain was not unzipped correctly. yakarov, try to unzip the terrain again from the mod package. If the issue shows up again, feel free to post screenshots. I can tell from them which are the tiles affected by the bug. BTW, IIRC it seems that SF2 does have this bug sometimes; when too many mods and resources are being used, something shows up totally black, it fails to load the textures. It happened to me sometimes with ground object and aircraft alike. -
Iran-Iraq War Terrain/Campaign
Menrva replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Black means untextured. Most likely Spudknocker didn't correct the entries in the terrain _data.ini. I prefer .jpg textures over .bmp for space conservation, but Spud converted all .jpg textures to .bmp. The _data.ini may be referencing wrong file extensions, .jpg instead of .bmp or viceversa, depending on what is effectively inside the terrain folder. Also, I decided to remove various TODs for buildings and trees from my latest terrain versions (Spud's terrain still has the additional old TODs), since I don't like them very much, they are very old and I would love to see Stary or other artists improve the tileset someday. So, wait for my standalone releases (it will take a while), the issues you are encountering are already fixed. -

Menrva replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Unless Spud changed anything, it should be a NavalMap. Better yet, wait for me to release the standalone versions of the terrain, they will contain more things, targets and a greater year span, including ODS and OIF.
