Haha! Good to know! I am also of Dutch descent in some ways, well, not really; my great-grandfather was Dutch but moved to Italy. I guess it's the beauty of living in Europe.

Baltika's Georgia Terrain?
Menrva replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
It's quite some time, I hope Baltika is well and all, he's been important to the SF community, his terrains are some of the best available. -
Or better, there are no facts, only opinions at this point. Truth is worth less than shit these days. People prefer to close eyes other than to open them, to believe in lies made to cover rivers of tears and blood. Questionable IQ? I didn't know such a thing ever existed. Although I would recommend Trump & Co. for a nice mental health check in a good clinic. Those who claim to be very smart (like Trump) are more insecure than they happen to show on the stage. Nowadays, if you show some honest self-doubt you are regarded as a weak individual. Don't, and you're the king, although a reckless and inept one.

She didn't misspoke, she clearly stated that it happened but it didn't get covered during the Obama administration; it's way different than Trump's 7/11 or Obama's 57 states, which instead are clear examples of misspeaking in the middle of a speech. Here's more info and the video where she stated it: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-38857216 She later wrote on Twitter that she wanted to say "terrorists", I suggest that you change the word "massacre" with the one she meant; the phrase doesn't make sense. She gave blatant proof she is a liar, plain and simple. People are free to believe to alternate facts. It already happened in history, when millions believed that Jews were monsters and had to be interned in concentration camps, and so on... I don't think Trump will be crazy enough to invade a country, though. But things are heating up with Iran, China and Yemen. If there is something that the news aren't covering, that is the new military ops Trump has ordered in Yemen; CENTCOM confirmed the death of civilians during a helo strike. But it's them, not us, who gives a f*ck, right? Those who don't read the news because they are all BS, I hope are the same ones who didn't believe that charade of Bush Jr. justifying the war in Iraq back in 2003.

Iran-Iraq war
Menrva replied to Centurion-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Oh my... It's pure gold, jeanba! Thanks! -
Damn, I had to google it because I didn't know what the thread was about. Well, let's not forget about Trump's 7/11 either. I am wondering what the f*ck is wrong with Uncle Sam...

Iran-Iraq war
Menrva replied to Centurion-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Good call, but I just checked the .ini files I have, and all airfields have said statements. I too think it's a z-fighting problem, but most likely due to the _data.ini. @jeanba, I can't check the terrain in Spud's mod ATM, so I decided to attach an alternative _data.ini from my standalone terrains; beware that other types of bugs can appear, let me know. Iran-IraqWA_DATA.zip -
Me too, streakeagle. "Vera" almost makes me cry each time I listen it. Roger Waters makes such powerful songs. The song alludes to the loss of his father during WW2, and how Lynn's words "we'll meet again, some sunny day" never materialized for him.

Iran-Iraq war
Menrva replied to Centurion-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
I can't check ATM, so I appreciate all the help I can get. Spudknocker, if you can, please check it for me. I must admit it's one of the strangest bugs I've ever seen. Most likely it is due to shaders and some parameters in the _data.ini. My standalone terrains contain some tweaks to shaders (I am using some of mue's reworked shaders). Terrain modders, I am open to all suggestions. I am sure it's not due to the heightmap. The airfields are all flattened. The issue must be the _data.ini I think. jeanba, thanks for posting. When I regain some free time, I'll finish my work on the standalone terrains, and all bugs should be gone. Apart from usual bugs, the terrain contains quite many details; so pilots are also advised to look for landmarks and an important dam in Iraq! -
Iran-Iraq war
Menrva replied to Centurion-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Hmm, strangely it doesn't happen to other users as far as I know. Make sure you have the following textures in the terrain folder: TEROBJECT_BUILDINGS1.bmp TEROBJECT_BUILDINGS2.bmp TEROBJECT_TREES1.tga TEROBJECT_TREES2.tga You should have them though, so I have no idea why it happens. The _data.ini should be correct. When the standalone terrains are ready, I'm curious to see if the bug happens. -
Iran-Iraq War Terrain/Campaign
Menrva replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Really? I took great care in order to avoid trees in bases. If you can, post a list of the ones you've seen affected, I might have missed something. -

Menrva replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
You're right Spud, in fact I am a bit stupid recently, you would have noticed about it after all, during all the campaigns' testing. Makes me think that the terrain was not unzipped correctly. yakarov, try to unzip the terrain again from the mod package. If the issue shows up again, feel free to post screenshots. I can tell from them which are the tiles affected by the bug. BTW, IIRC it seems that SF2 does have this bug sometimes; when too many mods and resources are being used, something shows up totally black, it fails to load the textures. It happened to me sometimes with ground object and aircraft alike. -
Iran-Iraq War Terrain/Campaign
Menrva replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Black means untextured. Most likely Spudknocker didn't correct the entries in the terrain _data.ini. I prefer .jpg textures over .bmp for space conservation, but Spud converted all .jpg textures to .bmp. The _data.ini may be referencing wrong file extensions, .jpg instead of .bmp or viceversa, depending on what is effectively inside the terrain folder. Also, I decided to remove various TODs for buildings and trees from my latest terrain versions (Spud's terrain still has the additional old TODs), since I don't like them very much, they are very old and I would love to see Stary or other artists improve the tileset someday. So, wait for my standalone releases (it will take a while), the issues you are encountering are already fixed. -

Menrva replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Unless Spud changed anything, it should be a NavalMap. Better yet, wait for me to release the standalone versions of the terrain, they will contain more things, targets and a greater year span, including ODS and OIF. -
Iran-Iraq War Terrain/Campaign
Menrva replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Great work, Spudknocker! I would like to hear what terrain modders think about the new terrain. It took me a long time, I hope it was worth the wait. Standalone releases will follow for ODS and Operation Darius, but I won't update the campaigns, they need major rework and I'll leave that to eburger and others. But I can help a little in regards to historical accuracy. -
The latest trailer from Project Aces, just in case the AC fans here missed it: https://youtu.be/zIIoRDCmJEA Strangereal is finally back!

Not gonna happen for first version. I might need some artists for a better looking tileset too. Ok, thanks a lot, Wrench! -
Iran-Iraq war
Menrva replied to Centurion-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Okay, terrain preparations are complete. First terrain you'll be able to play will be part of Spudknocker's Iran/Iraq war mod package. My standalone releases will follow in the coming weeks. @Wrench, before I give Spudknocker the green light, I want to check if it's okay with you that I include your old ReadMe files from the IR and IR2003 terrains together with my own ReadMe. Especially because I might forget in the credits someone whose work has been included indirectly in my reworked terrain. Although the terrain is pretty much 99% new, few target layouts may be your work too, so I'll wait for your permission. -
New Terrain Project
Menrva replied to PFunk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Yes, PFunk, you can. A terrain nations.ini can override the main nations.ini of the game in the flight folder. For a specific terrain, you can set nations allegiance however you like, for instance you can set USAF as enemy and USN as friendly, even Soviet and USMC together as friendly and so on. -

Menrva replied to PFunk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I like it, this one would be perfect for a direct confrontation between Greece and Turkey. Looking forward to it! Just be careful about the Wall, because you won't be able to targetize some areas at the edge of the terrain. -
Thrown out of cockpit - not at the edge of the map
Menrva replied to Sheriff001's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Strange, the targets.ini I have does not reference such target. I may have a different and more up to date version. Wrench made several updates during the years for this terrain. If you can, post your targets.ini and I'll have a look into it. I suggest that you check all available downloads about this terrain, some are only updates from what I can remember, so must be installed in correct order into the terrain folder. -
Thrown out of cockpit - not at the edge of the map
Menrva replied to Sheriff001's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Are you sure that it is not at the edge of the map? A target could have been placed beyond the the Wall by mistake
