I think so yes its on thread http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?...e=1&fpart=3 Probably a case of just changing the engine thrust and name in the data ini file - so you could make a copy of the entire planes folder and rename the folder to F-104A-19 for example and the ini file to F-104A-19.ini then use the modified F-104A_data.ini file in there - if you see what i mean?

Its possible to create custom single missions where you have to fly in formation with the AI as a #2 or 4 for example.

How to fly stock campaigns with add-on aircraft?

How far have you got? Did you manage to extract the relevant campaign data ini file from MissionData.cat using the extraction tool? -
Do You Fly Single Missions or Campaigns?
MigBuster replied to Nicholas Bell's topic in General Discussion
I love flying game generated single missions with different planes - also play the YAP missions obviously. Havnt played a full campaign for a while - always get complacent in these and forget to put wing leveller on when i time accelerate :( Gotta say that Hunter A-A missions in the early 60's are a nightmare! wot no flippin afterburner!! -
How to fly stock campaigns with add-on aircraft?

Using WOE as an example only: You will find the campaigns in the Campaign folder eg: C:\.....\Wings Over Europe\Campaigns Pick a campaign eg woeCamp1 and open the folder. In there you will find a file called woeCamp.ini. You also need woeCamp1_Data.ini which you need to extract using the extract tool probably from a cat file in the Flight folder. The SFP1E extract tool can be downloaded from this site. An easy way to get a plane into the game is to modify a squadron in the data.ini file after you have extracted it. If you want to fly it you need a player flyable squadron (one with a weapon loadout specified) change the type, default texture, weapons and whatever else needs changing then save it: //----- Player Unit [AirUnit003] AircraftType=A-1H Squadron=43TFS ForceID=1 Nation=USAF DefaultTexture=SEA1 BaseArea=Spangdahlem Airbase BaseMoveChance=0 RandomChance=100 To chose the squadron you need to alter the woecamp.ini file like this for example: [uSAFUnit003] UnitName=(A-1H) 43th TFS 'Bunyaps' ForceID=1 UnitID=1 StartDate=1962 DescFile=woe1Start.txt StartText=woe1Start1.txt hope you understand this - you may have to experiment a bit also! -
Theres no set training sylabus like Falcon - use single missions to train on - you can customise how hard the game is - where you start etc. Then up the level when you think youve learnt something - searching old threads on here or simhq will also give you valuable info on how to dogfight or avoid SAM's

Where to start - now thats a good question! Install the game once patch it up then leave that install alone (or use for online playing) . Copy the entire game folder and rename to SFModded or something and mod the heck out of that - run the new install from the exe file in the folder you have now created. If you decide to install an entire campaign you really need a fresh install - so again just copy the game folder of you initial install (that you should have left unmodded) You could probably add polaks sky mod on here and then update the terrains from www.sfmods.com - also celinskys cloud mod on here is something to consider. There is a training terrain to practise dropping bombs - yes thats right manual dive bombing is required and must be practised. see here: http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_055a.html and here: http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_061a.html Add one mod at a time if you must - and test after each one - if you dont then you may never trace the CTD its caused Be careful - some of the README's in the mods assume you know other things in advance After doing a lot of modding backup the install to DVD so you dont have to do it again There is a knowledge base on here that will help you also The control list will be in default.ini here (C:\........\Wings Over Vietnam\Controls) - There was a keyboard layout - maybe someone has a link to that still - pretty basic though. When it comes to weapons you will eventually need the weapons editor from this site. Also you may be asked to open an ini file you cant find - for that you will need the SFP1 file extractor program on here. also see here: http://www.column5.us/newb.htm

Newbie inquires as to latest, and best, patching
MigBuster replied to xpublius's topic in General Discussion
Not personally though anythings possible - Operating Systems can be so fragile. There should be no harm in uninstalling then reinstalling the drives drivers based on what you have told me (restart the PC in between this procedure). If you have your Windows XP disk then you should be able to run "sfc /scannow" from the command line (or just type it into the run box) - this checks the XP system files. Then run checkdisk, and defrag your Hdrive I will also say to check the manufacturers knowledge base or website in case there is a simple fix for this! If that doesnt work (and you are using XP/Vista) then you may want to see if you have a recent restore point to go back to. A final option is running a registry cleaner like CCleaner (be very careful with this though!) -

So when you removed it using Add/Remove programs did the uninstaller appear to run successfully? If you put the Strike Fighters disk into the drive can Windows see the files on that disk - As in: Open "My Computer" then right click on the CD drive and select "Explore". Does windows list any files? Check the bottom of the disk and make sure there are no smudge / finger marks on it also. -

Hmm not a good sign - Did you remove it using Add/Remove programs and have you removed the game folder completely from where you installed it to? Does your drive recognise any files on the CD - and are your other CD's working in the drive ok? -
In a ideal world no F-16 should have to carry those things!!! :( Nice work though!

Well if it didnt happen after modding something: Is your hard disk full? have you defragged it lately?

Well about 90% of what goes out a week is in the recycle bag these days. Cant afford a new car - wouldn't consider a hybrid because tests on current models show how high the petrol consumption really is. The hydrogen powered car looked more promising - they need to move on that IMO. I use the low power light bulbs, dont leave lights on or things on standby - the power usually goes off at the wall. Air con is not required in England - havnt switched on a fan or fan heater in years - also had a mild winter so Heating was off fully from March!

Well I know the point of the concerts were to raise awareness of the current situation - which it may have done to some people - though I suspect most would have thought it was just another concert. I myself know the situation so another boring concert didn't appeal to me obviously - and I dont see biofuels being the answer due to the amount of crop land needed for the common types. Another slight problem at the moment is developing industrial nation like China and India whose emissions increase every day. Self appointed experts over here tell us that even if the entire UK ditched Cars/planes and went on bikes every where the effect would be canceled out by these other nations within a few years - great! If global warming is a real threat then you can kiss the Earth goodbye - I cant see us pulling out of this one! - though we'll see. Im sure some celebs do care about environmental issues now the bandwagon has come round - the question is were these people like Genesis and Madonna raising these issues in the 70's and 80's?

Firstly if you havnt done so create a new install of Strike Fighters for each campaign you want to install - they wont work well when mixed together. When i say new install you dont have to install from the CD just install SF once and patch up. Then copy the entire game folder for each install and rename appropriately. Once thats done there are lots of issues that will cause CTD's however they are nearly always fixable because they are down to modified files. Finding a campaign thats been updated for the latest service pack is a good start - if not then you may have to spend time testing each plane to see if it works properly - and of course the ground object issue was a big change. The readme's with campaigns sometimes assume the installer knows his stuff unfortunately however - there is no end of info in the knowledgebase on this site - also try searching the SIMHQ archives - nearly everything you will need to know is in there.

Tried an Early War campaign last night...
MigBuster replied to F-4PhantomII's topic in General Discussion
Nice one - says it all - I love taking the F-4B on early 60's MigCap missions - is a dilemma how to take them down sometimes if you stick to the visual range rules! -
It gets publicity for the bands and another knighthood for Bono and Bob Geldorf usually - Ive no idea where the money really goes to or how it will improve the natural Earth. I don't think the emissions caused by all the people traveling there and the masses of Electricity used could have done much good - I cant even leave my TV on stand by anymore - yet these tw@s can use what they like to sing a few ancient songs and lame covers. The BBC showed the UK concert live from Wembley stadium for most of the day yesterday - which almost guarantees it will be lame. Well in the 5 mins I watched it for it didn't disappoint - on to the stage comes Genesis - and off goes the TV - so it reduced my carbon footprint a bit anyway!. There was a rumor on f-16.net that flying time for air forces is likely to be cut and Pilots use flight simulators more - well that is a positive step to curb emissions if ever I saw it - cos you would have to put a gun to my head for me to give up my car for more than a day!

Wings over Europe 6 : Fires of Liberation
MigBuster replied to kei nagase's topic in General Discussion
woah - thats good! -
I cant remember TBH - though theres an open slot for anyone who wants to investigate that. I guess you could try making the AA missiles use a LargeSamTrail effect or something.
-
Depends the SA-7 that can be downloaded here has never fired at me although the SA-7 bloke in YAP does fire at me. There are a lot of differences in SeekerFOV, gimbleLimit etc in the weapondata.ini - I havn't looked into what will fix this yet. Then theres also the issue of how well the early model SA-7 could even target a fast jet in the real conflict.
-
Probably here under effects http://www.sfmods.com/ Can see the SAMS okay for sure - can see the AA ones when they wizz past - not sure what distance you see them at though.
-
Probably just an ini edit if you mean the F-104's title - but if that all youve done - just reinstall and mod the new install - its up to you really.
-
Nah mine only rotate - any moving white puffy things usually means a Deuces enhanced SAM is on the way!
-
Yeah BVR's just not Cricket - what happened to 2 men of honour dueling in similar flying machines - hopefully we will get some better counter measures soon!

You saying that the 1990 sim F-29 Retaliator I had on the Amiga got it all wrong!
