  4. Dear Pilots! It's been almost a week since the release of DCS World 2.0 and the Open Alpha of the DCS: NEVADA Test and Training Range map. We are very happy to see the overwhelming positive response to the quality of the map and the level of enjoyment it is providing you. We do though realize that many of you are having problems downloading and installing DCS World 2.0 and the Nevada map. Our engineers are working to improve this and we are adding new file servers to improve this situation. Thank you for your patience. 7. In the early morning hours on July 4th, 1986, 21-year-old Lance Corporal Howard A. Foote Jr. climbed a ladder leading into the cockpit of an A-4M Skyhawk. He started the jet up, taxied to one of Marine Corps Air Station El Toro’s runways—which was unlit at the time—and pushed the throttles forward. Moments later, the Lance Corporal would realize his dream to fly a tactical military jet, albeit just once and illegally. Foote flew out toward San Clemente Island, executing loops, rolls and high-speed maneuvers before turning back to MCAS El Toro after about 45 minutes to attempt a landing. This time, the runways were all very well lit and the base was buzzing with activity due to his “borrowing” of the jet. After several landing attempts, the Skyhawk maintainer put the A-4M down safely and was quickly detained after exiting the cockpit. There was little doubt that the whole stunt was extremely dangerous, but it was also an amazing accomplishment although Foote was no novice to flying. He was an accomplished glider pilot who set world records at a very young age. http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/the-tale-of-when-a-marine-mechanic-stole-an-a-4-skyhawk-1745015819

  9. Does it happen on all aircraft? Make a copy your "Effects" folder and put it somewhere safe then remove all the files in "Effects" from the game.....and run...............does it still happen?
  10. I was getting at this...............when putting mods into the Mod folder do not put in old copies of options.ini and version.ini You can cut out the entire mod folder and paste it safe somewhere. than run the game again and it will create new mod folders and the 2 files I mentioned. Then put in your mods making sure not to write over the them.
  11. Was the game reinstalled? Did you put your old mods back with the old option.ini and version.ini files? - that often causes problems

  16. Got a cheap (relatively) new Windows 10 tablet yesterday (32GB SSD & Intel Atom) to replace my old iPad and have all my flight sim manuals and checklists on. You can transfer stuff to its c drive via USB memory stick or using One Drive that auto saves it locally. Pretty good for the price (Made by Viglen) and my first real experience of using Win 10 in tablet mode. http://www.tesco.com/direct/windows-connect-10-tablet-intel-atom-1gb-ram-32gb-black/630-1078.prd

  18. Just noticed this...one of Rugby's former world stars RIP Jonah Lomu, considered one of New Zealand's finest rugby union players of all time, has died at the age of 40. According to the former team doctor of the All Blacks, John Mayhew, Lomu's death was unexpected. He played more than 60 matches for New Zealand before his career was ended by kidney disease. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/34853536
  19. This morning I saw the current operations of the United States against Daesh referred to as “Desert Drizzle.” I nearly spit out my drink in amusement, because it’s absolutely the truth. In the twenty-four years since Operation Desert Storm, the decisive application of United States combat airpower has gone from the devastating force of a tidal wave down to that of a drippy faucet. We are a far, far cry from the absolutely dominating performance that has come to be expected of us in that arena. .............. Daesh isn’t stupid. They know how restrictive the ROE is, and they take full advantage of our inability to attack them by placing their critical functions, command and control nodes, and other high-value targets inside densely populated areas and beyond the reach of U.S. warplanes. Simply stated, the ROE does not allow for any civilian deaths whatsoever and any ordnance employed must be done so with the minimum amount of collateral damage possible. http://fightersweep.com/3328/what-happened-when-daesh-decided-to-poke-the-bear/
  20. The Russian plane crash in Sinai, Egypt, was caused by a terrorist attack as traces of explosives have been found in the wreckage of the plane, Federal Security Service director Aleksandr Bortnikov told President Vladimir Putin “During the flight, a homemade device with the power of 1.5 kilograms of TNT was detonated. As a result, the plane fell apart in the air, which can be explained by the huge scattering of the fuselage parts of the plane,” he added. https://www.rt.com/news/322393-russian-plane-crash-terrorist-attack/ Russia's security chief says an act of terror brought down the Russian A321 airliner in Egypt last month, killing all 224 people on board. "Traces of foreign explosives" were found on debris from the Airbus plane, FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov told Russian President Vladimir Putin. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-34840943
  21. I think you can but you need to extract HUDDATA.ini from the relevant cat file, edit with Notepad then put in your Flight mod folder. [Display004] DisplayType=RADAR PosX=0.0 PosY=0.0 Width=0.0 Height=0.0 Alpha=0.0 InitTime=0.0 Typically using the Jets in Pit radar is better if you can.
  22. It looks like Moscow stepped up its military effort in Syria even before the intention to intensify the air strikes was announced by Putin on Nov. 17. As initially reported by Reuters, a US official has confirmed that Moscow has conducted a significant number of strikes in Syria using both sea-launched cruise missiles and long-range bombers. The Russian MoD said 25 long-range bombers took part in the raid 5 x Tu-160s, 6 x Tu-95MS and 14 x Tu-22M3. http://theaviationist.com/2015/11/17/russian-tu-22s-joined-the-syria-air-war/
  23. To mark the centenary of the formation of RAF 17 Squadron a unique line up of aircraft was assembled at Edwards Air Force Base. Seen here are a Sopwith Camel (replica), Supermarine Spitfire XIV and Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II, three of the types flown by the squadron during the past 100 years. http://www.strategypage.com/military_photos/2015021921475.aspx
