  1. depends how the terrain is being build... I guess it is split into many sub-meshes covering areas in grid, don't think one single mesh could cover the level of detail (land curvature) we've seen in screenshots. I guess Iceland is locked from us modders, I'd need a copy and a day or two to tell, franky edit: really dunno Dave, I strongly believe terrain will be moddable... but as different area, not the one released
  2. :fu: (not in mood)
  3. And only you two find it funny...
  4. from a developer standpoint, a flaw... what IF the new terrain engine does not support any ground cluster of any sort be it trees, small houses..? There are guys willing to redo Vietnam map using the new engine... can they go with jungle being only flat ground texture? Don't think so... move dammit!
  5. those name-calling again! Iceland=not ice, mostly, lots of intrusive, felsic, igneous rock, known as the perfect habitat zone for plant life... Greenland=Ice,ice, ice, no plants after all
  6. what I'm saying is: do not be suprised if the Iceland terrain is dead empty (as in "dead space" term) and lacks any ground features except, well, the Earth ("Earth->ground here" -love that writing on one Harrier in museum!) itself edit:typo
  7. I hoped that would be fixed... but you can't have everything. This together with clouds apparently back at reasonable real-world height implies lack of any alpha-based ground objects (namely: trees) on the terrain mesh... just sayin'
  8. yes Dave, the railing in the aft section, old OLD bug of materials with alpha-channel for transparency (namely: Targa files) not sorting out as they should (that was the reason for moving the clouds to physically impossible levels afer Exp2, to avoid the infamous trees vs clouds rendering bug)
  9. Garrr! The century-old alpha-channel bug is still there: not nice
  10. I wonder... 12.000+ like the TW page, but how many will actually buy Tomcat?
  11. +1 same here @Mono: as much a I like working on XP and have it still on my second system, W7/8 is the way to go. It's stable and well optimized platform, being XP fan I like it.
  12. I wonder... we gain much in naval side of war apparently, but how much do we loose in ground based warfare?
  13. maybe we'll get audio only? Wasn't it in GIB's compartment?
  14. So does mine too :fu:
  15. You, good Sir, have strange affection to my mom's laptop and primates.. It's the latter that worries me. Sheila!
  16. My Mom's lappy can run that so ok for me
  17. time to move on I guess... It was announced as DX10//11 title from start, so no harm done
  18. it's there so my OP is still valid
  19. (that mirrored strut texture under mirror is f-ugly! not buying until it's fixed! Ok, relax, just kidding!)
  20. Dunno! JimBib got me though too slow
  21. http://www.thirdwire.com/project_sf2na.htm cockpit shot Product Details Strike Fighters 2 North Atlantic is a jet air-combat game set in hypothetical Cold War Soviet invasion of Iceland. The player flyable aircraft include F-14 Tomcat and A-7 Corsair II. <p class="normal" align="left">The campaign is set in 1979 hypothetical "Cold War gone Hot" scenario - what if the Soviet Union had decided to invade West Germany in 1979? The key to Soviet victory in Europe rests in the capture of Iceland and its vital strategic US base located there. With the Soviet in control of Iceland, the NATO forces would not be able to contain the Soviet Northern Fleet, and the American reinforcement fleets would not be able to reach Europe. Join the US Navy and USS Nimitz Carrier Battle Group sent to reinforce the Iceland defense, protect the carrier from Soviet long-range bombers, and strike the Kiev battle group of the Soviet Northern Fleet! The game is designed for Windows 7/Vista and DX10 capable video card. It can be merged with other games in the series ( Strike Fighters 2, Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam, Strike Fighters 2 Europe, and Strike Fighters 2 Israel) for additional aircraft, maps, missions, and campaigns. 23. yeah, sometimes I can't believe what I'm reading from the man...
