Raven, I used to use a Precision 3D. I love those twist handles. Its really a great way of controlling rudder. My Saitek X-45 has the rocker control on the throttle, but its not the same. Can't wait to get the new Simped rudder pedals though.
-
Jag, you can't buy them new today. Thrustmaster has come out with a totally new HOTAS, basically a revamped version of the equipement you are purchasing. Thrustmaster doesn't even offer rudder pedals anymore, period. For the new stick and throttle, the cheapest price is $269.99 at amazon.com. For a good set of pedals, at least $80. If you want to compare used prices on the exact same equipement, try ebay. Thats the only place I have seen with any older Thrustmaster joysticks available.

Yeah, they must have been doing some updating to the code or something. Earlier, you can trust me, it was definately not up. False alarm, I guess. Scary how LO:MAC is getting such a bad reputation that something like that can make us all a little jumpy.
-
Just wne to the LO:MAC website as part of my morning ritual, and I found that it has been replaced by a generic UbiSoft site. Whats the deal? Just maintenance?

My computer science teacher is a retired CPO; John Spicer. Great guy.

Seems not. How old is it?

WWII Aircraft Anti-Tank Cannon Technical Question
SDirickson replied to SDirickson's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
I dunno about Maddox being unrealistic. Frankly, I think that historically the Russians had better performing aircraft, but poorly trained pilots. The Germans had excellent pilots which more than made up for the slight gap between aircraft performance. But Snapple, if you get tired of the huge number of people devoted to Russian aircraft, host your own maps with historical period aircraft, or 100% Luftwaffe aircraft. Besides, the Bf-109K and the Fw-190D should close the gap a lot. I've never had trouble getting good kills with any Luftwaffe aircraft with the Mk.108 cannon installed. Its pretty wicked. And I wasn't complaining about Il-2 or FB's realism, just the reviewer's opinion. -
WWII Aircraft Anti-Tank Cannon Technical Question

Nice pic, Ranger. It really is uncanny how realistic simulations and training are becoming, that you have to remind yourself that it is actual war. BTW, where in Texas do ya live? <-- Houston. -
Jesus man! You seriously got my hopes up, despite the fact that I knew they had gone out of the sim works.

Hey, if you guys want a replacement for the LO:MAC vid, check out www.il2sturmovik.com for a Forgotten Battles video. Definately mouth watering.

I hadn't heard any positive opinions of the Republican Guard either. -
Transports? Great! I loved the Blackhawk in LB2.

WWII Aircraft Anti-Tank Cannon Technical Question
SDirickson replied to SDirickson's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
The point was that it seems a bit dumb talking about the side armor of a tank, considering an aircraft should always be taking a shot at a downward angle. I pity the pilot who is low enough to shoot upward and hit it, Ranger, have you seen any footage of those new cluster bomb units, the ones you are talking about? Man, it is wicked. You'd be amazed at the size of the explosion. But, the Army has been doing that for a long time, just a little bit less blatantly, lol. The Hellfire and Javelin missiles both arc upward then dive at their target, and MLRS's have rockets with cluster like submunitions designed to explode on the top of the tank. Oh, kinda on the topic, I saw this show on the History Channel about something relating to the Gulf War. It had a short little blip of a APC firing a rocket over a minefield. The rocket was like one long firehouse, and it was the next generation of a bangalore torpedo. The hose was filled with plastic explosive, and it would detonate in a line of the minefield, clearing a perfect pass. Terrible s**t, dude. -
Snapp, Don't worry 'bout me. I'm lucky in that I go to a rather large school, with a large proportion of students in advanced classes, so I am certainly not alone. I'm definately not in any remedial courses or anything; AP all the way, cept for AFJROTC. As for problems, lol, I definately didn't mean to sound like I was having problems. Just commenting on the state of the majority of today's students.

WWII Aircraft Anti-Tank Cannon Technical Question
SDirickson replied to SDirickson's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
Anybody care to just give me their opinion on the matter? I'd like to know which makes more sense, because I've always wondered just how useful aircraft mounted guns are against tanks. -
Also, will there be a way for users to add on new aircraft, or will you guys be able to provide some addon's ala Il-2 Sturmovik? And I know this will seem like a stupid question, but there will be many more aircraft in the game that are not flyable but present in the missions, right?

And besides, Saddam has killed much more than that number himself. His own damn people, no less. Damn, he is nothing more than a modern Hitler who has had the foresight to keep the genocide within his own borders. Look Chief, nothing will ever change the fact that 98% of the people on Earth are f'ing stupid. Unfortunately for us, America probably has a higher proportion of that because it is the only country where it is OK to be a moron. I mean, its not a good sign when your children are looked down upon by their fellow students for being intelligent, inquisitive and curious. Ya know something else that really hacks me off? Have you ever said to yourself, "I want to learn."? Well, in high school today, learning is held in contempt. How can future generations be expected to prosper when they lack the will to improve themselves? Its terrible being an eighteen year old cynic with justification. P.S. Had to censor myself, sorry.
-
Hey, its not like a modern (i.e. stealthy) air force needs camo any more, anyway.
-
Thats what I thought. But what missile are you guys talking about then? SF:P1 features the Shrike and the Standard ARM, right? I was pretty sure that was it. If not, what are the other missiles?
-
I can certainly understand the need to make the game enjoyable. I mean, not many people really enjoy those long transition flights. As long as you guys can make the flight models, avionics, and low level terrain realism as realistic as possible, I'll be a happy puppy. But, can you make the missions and the game user modifiable enough so that we can create some totally realistic campaigns ourselves? As I am sure you can see by SF:P1 and F4, the user community has done excellent work in expanding the capabilities of a simulation, but that is only because the simulation was coded in such a way as to make it possible.
-
Dang, you guys got me all excited. I didn't know you were talking about anti-radiation missiles.

Damn straight, Cowboy. Thats my favorite book of ALL time.
