Dude, I didn't even know there WERE AGM's!

Thats just sloppy. :? Have you seen Behind Enemy Lines? Thats another of those movies where they put in just enough realism to fool the masses. Parts of it are so bad though, like having an SA-9 trail an F/A-18. Not track, TRAIL. Like, it maintained station almost, lol. Then, after the F/A-18 managed to dodge it, the missile turned, like 140 degrees, and REACQUIRED. Funniest part of the movie though, Hackman directs the downed WSO guy (I forget his name) to an extraction point. So, it goes through how hard it is for the guy to get to the extraction point, and how Hackman is all worried. When he finally reaches the position, and radios back that he is ready to be exfiltrated, Hackman says they can't pick him up, and he should go to such and such position. As soon as the WSO gets off the radio, Hackman makes a big scene like, "I WANT TO KNOW HIS POSITION! WHERE IS HE?" Like he said he was at the damn extraction point you sent him to, jackass. You should know where he is! Aaarggghhh, the movie's plot sucks. Only cool part about the whole thing is that they are reasonably accurate as far as equipment is concerned.

Two SUU-23 pods? Lotsa firepower. Will there be a custom pit?

This may just be because I am young and stupid, but I sure wish it would wait 4 years... I'd like to join in if I could, especially while the U.S. still has the most powerful military in the world.

I read a preview for Il-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles which spoke of the G model Stuka, and it's 37mm flak cannons. The reviewer commented on how actually inadequate the cannons are against Russian armor, since it is, after all, only a 37mm shell against armor even 50mm tank cannons couldn't penetrate. But, I'd have to disagree, and I'd like to know if I am correct. It seems to me that two things would make the Stuka a better anti-tank platform, even with only 37mm cannons. First, shouldn't you be performing your run in's at a dive, which means your cannon shells should be penetrating into the top, or upper sides of the tank? Second, and this is what makes me question the actual potence of the flak cannons, if you are in a Stuka, roaring in at about 300 kph, or greater, doesn't that add a lot to the muzzle velocity of the shell? I know in A2A dogfights, you always get much greater damage out of your guns in a head on pass, because of the closure speeds. Also, in the current Il-2, the Yak-9T (Or, K?) has a 45mm cannon, not much larger than the Stuka's, yet I can consistantly take out a tank with a single shell, even head on, especially head on! And the Stuka has two! Thats 74mm, :D , jk. BTW, it was the B section of the third installment of the www.il2center.com preview.

Awesome! Never knew they had a special edition. Jeez, I love that game. I could whip that F-15 around and use the M-61 like a surgeon. And I love how it pioneered realistic AIM-9 IF sensors. God, ACM is so fun.

Damn, I love helo sims. I hope this is as good as EECH and LB2. Ka-52 and Comanche 4 were so disappointing. BTW, whats this Red Shark game they have listed under the 'Games' link, yet doesn't open when you click on it? Looks like another helo sim, , hopefully.

Bicardi, F-15 Officer's Edition? Whats that? I've never heard of an officer's edition.

Snapple, if your only experience with the Jane's simulations are from USAF and the other survey sims they put out, you unluckily have only been playing with the bottom of the barrel. Jane's did its best work with Longbow 2, F-15 and F/A-18. All three are still regarded as some of the most realistic simulations on the market, ever.

Complaining about the CF-18, lol. I'd love to fly it!

I'll check it out. Problem is, I'm definately pushing the admissions deadlines.

Hahaha, well, I am leaning towards the Naval Academy, but either way its a great deal. Sorry Dagger, I'm not gung ho enough to be a Marine. Well, thats not true. If they wanted me as a pilot I'd sign up instantaniously. I always did like the "Rifleman First" motto.

I know I just need to have some patience. The problem is, if I don't get accepted, I need to get my backup plans in order. So far, I've been accepted to the Citadel, with a scholarship to boot, and I've got a Texas A&M application in also. Both my NROTC and AFROTC applications are complete. Pretty hard choice though, Citadel or A&M. I was leaning towards the Citadel first, but they don't offer aeronautical engineering, and if I don't get an ROTC scholarship, it is out of my ability to afford. I also think I'll have a little bit more fun at A&M. Problem with A&M is I didn't get my application in to the Honors Program in time, so I'll have to wait a year before getting in to that. The Citadel has a higher proportion of pilot slots awarded to it's graduates, too. Of course, its all a moot point if I can go to the AF or Naval Academies, I'd love to hear your opinions, though...

Man, it definately is a blur. The last semester flew by like never before. It really sucks, because before I know it, I'll be out of HS and on with my life. I just wish the academies would send out their dang appointments already, be it for good or bad. The anticipation sucks.
-
lmao, wish I could, wish I could. I'm only staying in there to get a heads up for college. Besides, I had to keep taking AP classes. Looks good for my academy application.

ln of e to the x = x <insert unenthusiastic hooray>

Please, for the love of God, don't make your children take Calculus BC AP their senior year of high school. They have much better things they could be doing than learning to intigrate the arcsin of e squared. Aaarghh, sorry to vent, but this stupid class is killing me... and my GPA, damnit.

Its all in the settings. If you turn off Hardware T&L, the FPS goes way up. I know, it worked for my 8500. Search the back threads for more specific info.

Oh, I am definately saving up for a Cougar and some Simped pedals. But, until then, the spring is very aggrivating. I've rotated it as much as possible to loosen it, but it still has a very annoying amount of friction. I might try wiring the coils together, good idea LO.

Do yo know how to mod the spring and pots of the X-45? I hate that stupid spring and plastic ring. It is definately a step backwards from the X-36. I like the extra tightness, but it forces me to clamp down my stick to the table. It also is a little jerky for tiny movements, because you have plastic rubbing on plastic. The friction is a bit much. I know, I know, thats what the little suction cups are for, but the surface of my desk is kinda rough and porous. It won't let the cups create suction. So, I have a Quick-Grip holding the stick and throttle down, unfortunately, right between my legs.

F11F-1 fans, THIS IS THE THREAD TO BE :)
SDirickson replied to FleetDefender's topic in Mods/Skinning Discussion
Although the thrust and weight are probably different, the aircraft should be remarkably similair to a Mirage F-1. They are very alike in external features, except in scale. Other than that, I can't recommend anything except creating and trying the plane in a flight model generating simulator, like X-Plane. -
The 9700 Pro is about the only card that performs better right now, but for the money, I definately wouldn't suggest upgrading.

Dialogue, Marco Silva has some repainted F-104 or F-100 cockpits that he made especially for use with the MiG's. I know, it isn't perfectly authentic, but he did an excellent job, and they really do look a great deal like the actual thing.

You guys have any details on when these babies will finally be available for order? And for what price? If its not too long, or too much, I think I am gonna have to pick me up a set. Second, any of you own a set of Simped pedals, and are the quality devices?
