  1. View File SF2 Cold War Prop and Flogger FM Tweaks Hello SF2 Flyers, For the post-WW2 prop. high-performance aircraft, several tweaks have been applied to the data inis, ranging from lift values for wings and wing tips to the engine section, prop. rpms, flight control section, gears section, flaps, also empty weight, inertia values, ceilings, engine sounds, rudder reversal effect fix, aileron/elevator/rudder sensitivity and movement, etc., depending on the type tweaked. Tweaks are not as extensive as for my FE2 work - but I've tried to get them into the "90% realistic enough" category for SF2 since these high-performance types are difficult to precision peg to within a km or two of historical stats., in contrast to the slower-moving FE2 types. Also included with this package are my minor data ini tweaks for several Flogger types, such as the MiG-23 S, early M, ML, P, MLA, late variant "98," and export variants MF and MS. Many thanks to the original FM modders for the late prop. types, including Baffmeister, Wrench, Cocas, MontyCZ, Charles of A-Team, Coupi, Paolopanz, and others I may not have mentioned here. The data inis are for SF2 installs only, tested at hard FM settings (no guarantees that the AI can land them nicely, although they fly them just fine). The Me109 G5 and H0 are variants on the stock G10 package provided on CombatAce (to install simply copy the relevant aircraft folders, rename as per my included folders, and drop in the relevant files). P-47 Sprint upgrades are variants on the ETO P-47D Bubbletop model and PTO P-47D Razorback model. Also included with this package are three sounds for a Pratt-Whitney, Centaurus, and Me109 either Benz or Hisso powered (sound works good for both). Links to the relevant aircraft that correspond with these data ini tweaks are located in the included "Read Me" file with the package. Please go through the Read Me for more thorough info. regarding these FM tweaks. Version 1.2 of this package includes the P-47N and improves the data inis for the other Jug and Superbolt variants. Happy flying, Von S DISCLAIMER: All Von S mods, for FE2, SF2, also WOFFue, are subject to the CombatAce "freeware" terms of agreement. 3. Hello fellow WWI simmers, The info. below is relevant to installing ROF (united edition) properly in Win10 (in Bootcamp) on a Mac with discrete graphics cards (in my case a 2013 Mac Pro with FirePro D700 cards, but should work fine on other high-end Macs too). Installing ROF in WineSkin, as was the case a few years ago, is still not worth experimenting with - I recommend the Bootcamp installation route instead. First off, install ROF into the main directory of the "c" drive of your Bootcamp install, for the game to launch properly. Also, I recommend, after installation, digging into the relevant "game," "updates," "mission editor" folders, etc., and making shortcuts to the relevant exe files either on your desktop or pinning them to your taskbar - since the main ROF exe "hub" in Bootcamp on a Mac, once you've updated your ROF install to the latest edition - will fail to launch. In-game video settings that work well are as follows: resolution of 1920 x 1080 fps limiter on (set to max. limit available of 120; this helps to nearly eliminate cloud flickering when used in conjunction with AMD control panel settings included further below) full screen vert. sync off (turning it on eliminates cloud flickering but caps fps at about 60; better to keep off and use the fps limiter setting capped at 120, which allows for nice, smooth fps in the 80 to 100 range) no gamma correction enable post-effects HDR off bloom off raindrops off super sampling off antialiasing 4x anisotropic level 8x shaders quality high light sources 10 texture detail high reflections details medium shadows detail special high landscape mesh detail 100% landscape textures detail high forest detail high grass quality high forest view distance far objects view distance 60% multi gpu/sli on AMD control panel settings (I recommend setting up a separate profile/settings file for ROF): antialiasing use app. setting antialiasing method adaptive multisampling morph filtering off anisotropic filtering use app. setting texture filtering high surface optimization off wait for vert. refresh (off, unless chosen by app.) triple buffering off shader cache (AMD optimized) -----> changed from "on" to optimized, seems to reduce some cloud flickering further with this setting tessellation mode (AMD optimized) -----> changed from "limit to 16x" to optimized, again seems to help slightly to reduce cloud flickering to a minimum AMD crossfire mode (AFR compatible) -----> this is the best setting, but also very good is the "default" setting (frame rates are smooth, and cloud flickering is at a minimum this way too) frame pacing on A few representative pics. below (fps average between about 60 and 120, depending on action/congestion/weather etc., usually hovering around 80 or 90). I also recommend picking some of the mods for ROF over on their official site to get the look you want. I've got about 40 or so mods installed through JSGME - the main ones to get the landscapes in my pics are "landscapes ver 4" and "landscapes ver 4 for winter," also the "high texture landscapes" package, "greater ground detail" package, etc. (search the official ROF site for mods/packages since they are hosted across several pages over there). Also good is Gavagai's "reduced lethality" mod that makes the aircraft less flimsy, as well as AI-improvement mods. and other relevant ones hosted there. With the relevant mods. installed, it flies a lot like modded FE2 (unmodded ROF looks very "shiny"...probably too shiny...with the in-game settings above, reflections are more realistic in the sim). One other tip, to get the crispy graphics as in my pics., go to the following website and download the "ATI SetLod" app. (if you're running an AMD graphics card) - and set the LOD bias to "-1" if you are using antialiasing at 4x in ROF, set to "-0.5" if using aa at 2x, and set to "-2" if using aa at 8x (make sure to run the app. in administrator mode for this to work, then log out/in or restart Win10). You will appreciate the extra sharpness, especially at altitude (more pics. located under the screenies section for ROF): https://community.hwbot.org/topic/137720-benchmark-tweak-software/ Happy flying, Von S
  4. View File FM Tweaks for WOFFue Hello fellow flyers of WOFFue, You will find enclosed in the attached zip file 27 tweaked FMs for engined-up aircraft currently not present in WOFFue: a 150hp Fokker Dr.1, a late Albatros D.II 180hp, a Nieuport 25/27 165hp variant, a tuned up late Sopwith Tripe, a tweaked Nieu. 28, a tuned up Fokk. Eindecker IIa, a late Sopwith Pup, the rare Nieu. 23bis, a field mod of the Alb. D.I, and three variants of the SPAD 7 (150/180/220hp). Also included is a tweaked two-gun Tripe, Camel and Fokk. D.VII variants, as well as an Albatros D.III Oeffag variant, an improved Albatros D.Va 200hp, three subvariants of the SPAD 13 (200/220/235hp), and tweaked Nieuports 10, 11, and 16. Please read the enclosed "Read Me" file for more info. on the FM tweaks. The FM tweaks are JSGME program enabled, for convenience. Simply move the aircraft folders that you will find into the MODS folder of your WOFF user directory, toggle on/off with the JSGME enabler, and go fly. A big thank you to all the WOFFue modders and the good folks at OBD Software for making such an enjoyable sim. Those who fly these 27 and similar models in First Eagles 2 will become comfortable quickly with the FM tweaks, since they are similar across both sims. Von S NOTE: Only load one of the SPAD 7 and SPAD 13 variants at a time via the JSGME enabler, since WOFFue only holds one SPAD 7 and 13 folder that can be modded. The same rule applies to the 110 and 130hp Camel variants. The Oeffag Albatros D.III replaces the standard mid-series Albatros D.III in WOFFue. 6. View File Tweaked Flight Models and Realism Pack for FE2 Hello Gents & Fellow Flyers of First Eagles 2, Included in the same folder with this ReadMe file are over 200 modified data files that I use for aircraft that are available on the CombatAce website for First Eagles 2. I’m very pleased that we have a larger selection of aircraft for the WWI period than WOFFue or ROF – well done modders and many thanks! The installation process for the data ini modifications is now streamlined, with all versions up to 9.5 being included per theater in a large “consolidated” folder. Inside that folder you will find two “Read Me” files that list a version history up to ver. 8.9, also from ver. 9.0 to 9.5, and all of the incremental mods. done to the FMs up to that point. The latest files are found per theater in a separate “DataFilesAdditionsVer97” folder. Also take note of other folders such as “ForFlightFolder,” “ForObjectsFolder,” etc., located in the latest ver. 9.7 update, and install items into the relevant folder hierarchy of your FE2 user directory. Always install older version files first before upgrading to the latest ver. FM pack (if you are missing ver. 9.5, for example, first install the files from the big consolidated folder before overwriting with the files from ver. 9.7). A great many thanks go out to Peter01 and Ojcar, also TexMurphy, for making most of those flight model files to begin with. Also a great thanks goes out to Stephen1918, MontyCZ and Laton for providing lots of beautiful planes and skins that go with those great flight models, to NBell for the many hitbox improvements provided for the planes, also to VonOben, Mike Dora and Crawford for many helpful suggestions, and to the A-Team by SkunkWorks for allowing me to tweak a few of the FMs for their models too. And of course a very big thanks goes out to Geezer for the fantastic, high-quality models that are still being made for FE2. What I've done is tinkered with the data files further. Modifications in all cases, to a greater or lesser extent, include data under the following sections: (a) MissionData (b) FlightControl (c) AIData (d) Sound (e) AircraftData (f) Engine (g) Crew (h) Internal Guns (i) Control Surfaces (j) Landing Gears (k) Fuselage, Nose, Tail, Vertical Tail, LeftStab, RightStab, Rudder, Left/Right/Inner/Middle/Outer/Tip Wing components As always, please read the included "Read Me" file for more thorough installation info. and details regarding the FM tweaks.
