  3. Lothar Maps

This mod offers several alternative in-game maps for Over Flanders Fields based on modern Google imaging:

Lothar Google Map – Google’s Terrain map illustrating basic topography with modern cities and roads, much of which hasn’t changed from a map-eye view over the past century. While there’s a hint of the underlying topography, this is generally best for flying by human landmarks.

Lothar Google Earth – Google Earth satellite imagery was a long way from even hypothetical during the Great War, so this mod applies diffusion and texture filters for a slight painted canvas map effect. Important locations are marked as on the stock OFF map, but overall this is best for just flying by terrain.

Lothar Google Mix – This simply overlays the two above maps with transparency. Things may not line up exactly, especially at the extremes of the map, but overall this provides a subtler view of the road and city detail of the Google Map with more of the geographical richness of the satellite view.

In any case, the result is vastly more detailed, accurate, and useful than the stock OFF map, despite the occasional anachronism. Try them all to see which you prefer on utilitarian and aesthetic merits. And have fun exploring with fresh eyes the amazing terrain Over Flanders Fields and beyond!

    JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler 2.6.0:
    http://combatace.com/files/file/13045-jonesoft-generic-mod-enabler-jsgme/

    Installation and Usage:
The installer automatically extracts the mod folders into your OFF JSGME mods folder if OFF and JSGME are installed correctly. JSGME will be run when installation is complete, just activate the ‘Lothar Google Map’ or ‘Lothar Google Earth’ or ‘Lothar Google Mix’ folder to enable the mod. It only makes sense to activate one of the map mods at a time, but you can easily switch between them with JSGME.

Notes: The front no longer displays in the Briefing Room, but does so (and more accurately) on the in-flight map.

  4. Bletchley's AA MOD

A gradual progression in accuracy and density of AA bursts as you progress from 1915 through to 1918.

When the campaign transitions from one date period to another just de-activate the current file and activate the next one.

I use this mod by selecting 'Normal' in Workshop settings for an 'active' front, 'Easy' for a 'quiet' front and 'Hard' for balloon attack missions. But on each workshop setting there is a gradual progression in accuracy and density of AA bursts as you progress from 1915 through to 1918, so you can just stick to one workshop setting if you prefer to use it this way, or find your own combination of settings.

This mod works well with my earlier mods, as it changes different files and settings, but. It will not work with any other AA mods that are installed via JGSME into the WWI Scenery folder.

  5. 1917(1) OFF MOD

New missions, flak. 917(1) covers the period from January through to April 1917 : the withdrawal of the German army to the Hindenburg Line, the diversionary Battle of Arras and Nivelle's great offensive in the Champagn. It was a period in which an Allied numerical superiority in the air was pitted against a technologically superior and increasingly well organised but still outnumbered German opposition, as the expansion in the RFC and RNAS saw hundreds of the older machines and under-trained air crew flooding into France. In the first months of 1917 the German army took the strategic initiative, following a period of poor weather that hindered the Allied recon. activity, with a well planned 'scorched earth' withdrawl to a prepared defensive line. British recon. and photo recon. resources were stretched to the limit, with scouts being drafted in to take on some of the work, as they desperately photographed and mapped the new German trench systems, whilst other two-seater units covered the advancing troops with low level contact missions. The advance was harassed in many places by German two-seater aircraft doing the same, and by aggressive but sporadic attacks by the German Jastas (although many of these were now in the south, to cover French preparations in the Champagn region). So much British effort was going in to recon., and on escorting the recon. aircraft, that Allied bombing switched to night bombing, of rail and communication centres, with little in the way of day bombing. The British then launched their attack on the Arras front at the beginning of April. The Art.Obs., particularly counter-battery work, now had the highest priority, along with tactical recon. and photo recon. missions along the front, with some scouts once again being drafted in to do some of the recon. work and also to attack the balloon line. Heavily escorted day bombing now resumed, mostly against rail centres, to try and stop the Germans bringing forward reinforcements. As the British threatened to break through at Arras the Germans drew in air resources from the south of the region, and the now numerically strengthened German fighter force (including new types such as the Albatros D.III) started to take a heavy toll on the British Corps machines, bombers, long recon., and their escorting scouts. On 14th April the French launched Nivelle's long awaited offensive in the Champagne, but the Germans had advance knowledge of the detailed planning for this and it ground to a halt, after very heavy losses that tore the heart out of the French army. By the end of April the French were back on the defensive and fighting at Arras was winding down. But new British aircraft types such as the SE5 and the Bristol Fighter, deployed too little and too late to have a significant impact, were already in France, and others such as the Camel and the DH4 were on the way...the pendulum was about to swing again as the British, having survived 'Bloody April' with the offensive doctrine intact, and despite heavy losses in the air, prepared for a major offensive in the north.

  6. Madmatt's Over Flanders Fields Essential Multiplayer Files Autoinstaller

Over Flanders Fields Essential Multiplayer Files Autoinstaller
    June 3rd, 2009
    Installer coded by Madmatt

PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT FULLY BEFORE PROCEEDING!!!

Welcome, this simple little autoinstaller was designed to help ease some of the hassle some people have encountered in trying to get all the files they need to join some of the exciting Multiplayer games being hosted every week by members of the "Doves and Hawks" online squadron.

This program will install 3 separate sets of files that will allow you to also use the L30 Zeppelin, German Gotha Bomber and see the nice searchlights that are required to play some of the new MP missions that have been created recently.

JUST ADDED! This program now installs 23 new multiplayer compatible missions for your flying pleasure!

This program can be uninstalled at any time and will not affect your normal Single Player experience in OFF. It does NOT change any stock OFF files, it merely adds some new ones which are needed in some MP missions.

Since the "Doves and Hawks" members all play with the Optional Hardcore Damage Model v1.30 released by OBD Software, I have included the option to have this installer connect your web browser to that file. It will NOT install it for you, it merely links to the file online.

Please Note: This installer program will scan your aircraft folder and if it detects any older Gotha or Zeppelin files, it will delete them before it copies in the new ones. This is done to ensure everyone is using the SAME version of these files wherever possible. Be aware of this if you have custom Gotha or Zeppelin skins for instance because this installer will delete them. I recommend you back up those folders/files if you do have any custom Gotha or Zeppelin skins you don't want to lose.

    How To Uninstall:

You can uninstall these new files one of two ways. You can use the standard Windows "Add or Remove Programs" option located under the Windows Control Panel or you can browse into the folder called "uninstall MP Essential Files" located in your "CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields" directory and double-click on the file called unis000.exe. This will uninstall the new MP files only. It will not uninstall your game.

Permission by all the original mod authors was obtained where possible and we thank them for their work.

    Searchlight Mod:
Files originally provided by RAF_Louvert in his "Gotha's along the Thames" mission
    Created by Eurofinn and www.groundcrew.com

    Gotha:
    Original Gmax model by Seacondor
texture mapping and skin by Capt. Winters

    L30 Zeppelin:
Files originally uploaded on Sim-Outhouse website by british_eh but they have no credits included

Mission Credits: (I did rename some of the mission files to create and retain consistentcy):
    PD-1
    stumpjumper
    Axgrinder

Mission Weather template file (used by some of the missions):
    ghandi

Special thanks to the everyone that helped me with testing and assembling the files!

  8. West of Colmar

this was scanned from Baedeker's Northern France as published in 1909. I've tried locating the local aerodromes as much as possible. but there aren't all that many there. I've used Hugh Wynne's aerodrome research to help me plant the aerodromes there. there is an aerodrome on Wynne's map north and south of Colmar. I've included both of these fields. if there are any aerodromes that I've missed feel free to point them out. it's a bit tricky finding some of the right places on these old maps.

  9. Western Front Map 1915-1916

    February 2009

The original, large, paper map which is the basis of this set was lent to me by Hugh Baldwin, "Bletchley," back in October 2006. It was a project to bring some maps into the Over Flanders Fields W.W.I. flight simulation as well as supply maps for others interested in this period of W.W.I. history.

The original map was badly creased, ripped and worn and being very large I had to scan it in pieces, then paste it all together accurately in Photoshop and then restore it and enhance it. I've included a photo of what the original map looked like out of interest. The completed map was available for free down load on Polovsky's Over Flanders Fields website for several years. I had always planned on doing a series of smaller cut up versions for printing on standard letter size paper so that a OFF player could more easily use them in game. I have finally gotten around to doing it after the several requests after the release of OFF phase 3, "Between Heaven & Hell" this January 2009. I cut these up and added borders so that the feeling is one of more authentic maps of the period.

The main map is now divided into 16 segments, each indexed to a map segment by alphabet letters. Each segment overlaps so that there is no loss of detail and each segment is clearly marked in the upper right corner with it's index letter number.

I hope you enjoy these and they help in your flying in the OFF BHH game, or in any other historically accurate WWI sim.

Contact me if you have any questions. "rabu"

Please feel free to share these with others, but please give credit and do not alter them.

My missions are made to be played from the allied side but can be played from either.

i use spawns for enemy aircraft so you may find the centeral powers are outnumbered as
half of there force are spawns and unflyable.

your objective is to take out the train as well as the marshalling yards.

follow the waypoints and have the bombers take out the yards while you protect them.
then take out the train as you will get to it rather quickly.

there is a flak car on the tail end that should really be delt with first.

  17. Train Buster's / a phas-3 O.F.F. MISSION

    Multiplay /SINGLE PLAY

    train buster's

Trains abound along the Rhine in the beautifull Koblenz area.we are less than a hundred miles from frankfurt,
germany and can hurt their war effort with a sucessfull attack today.
three trains and a marshelling yard are our targets today.enemy air activity is high and so are the stakes in this
free for all to the death.
be aware that the third train has deadly archie and must be approached with caution.keep a wary eye.
you may spot the odd zepp returning to base as were in a zepp flyway and they will be returning home about
this time.good luck and good hunting.
    PD

These missions are written with multiplay in mind. they have 16 seats and are set up to have a target rich
enviroment with a fair amount to do.
although they can be played out in single play the mission goals are impossible to meet.
my reasoning for always haveing the sopwith camel is the fact they have a decent load out and with them in
a coop mission with a full house[ie 16 player's] the mission goal is atainable.
survival is the main objective in all mission scenerio's.

  18. Rearm and Refuel

    REARM AND REFUEL

When out of ammo, return to base and land, shut off engine. now hit control/shift/k and you will respawn in the air with a full load of ammo and have to fly back to the action
MADE FOR ALLIED SIDE ONLY....CHOOSE ONLY FROM THE AIRCRAFT SELECTION WITH 8 SEATS IN THE FLIGHT.LEAVE THE 7 SEAT FLIGHTS ALONE AS THEY ARE YOUR REARM AND REFUEL AIRCRAFT.
choose from flight 1 and flight 4 only as these are the flights with 8 aircraft.
AIR START AT ALTITUDE FLYING TOWARD THE BATTLE ZONE. USE THIS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE TO GET SOME HEIGHT ON THE ENEMY.WHEN YOU ENGAUGE AND FINALLY RUN OUT OF AMMO RETURN TO BASE AND LAND. WHEN YOU COME TO A FULL STOP HIT CONTROL/SHIFT/K AND YOU WILL RESPAWN IN THE AIR IN A NEW A/C WITH A FULL LOAD OF AMMO AND CAN THEN RETURN TO THE BATTLE.
you can continue to do this untill all the enemy planes are shot down or you run out of respawn aircraft.
The camel is always used because of the ammo loadout at 1000 rounds. you will need the zepp and gandies cloud formation in order to fly this mission.

  19. Flanders maps

Here is rabu's maps with all the aerodorme locations mapped out as they were in early 1916. there is also a legend on each map with the name of each aerodrome. I just have a generic 3 way tricolor as the emblem for the allies as we have not fully distinguished which aerodromes were used by which country of the Entente. Please be aware that things are not exact... in some places the locations of certain things in game varies when compared to the map. The location of the city of Ypres is one that comes to mind.

  23. Zeppelins Over Paris !

    Greetings All,

Here is a challenging mission for you to try. A pair of zeppelins are staging a daring dusk raid on Paris. You must scramble your Camels, which are stationed on the northern edge of the city, and climb to intercept the airships before they can reach the Eiffel Tower. But beware, they have waves of escorting Hun fighters tagging along, and despite the help you will receive from the Spad VII's of ESC15 you will still have your hands full. Remember, your primary objective is to destroy the brace of zeppelins before they can reach the Tower. And one more warning, a certain ace from Jasta 37 and his wingman have been reported in the area as well, so watch out. Don't forget to use the Camel's outstanding climbing abilities to stay above the enemy fighters as best you can, and to reach the airships as quickly as possible. And if you are skillful enough to down your targets you will still have to fight your way back home and land safely.

    Best of luck!

P.S. You will need the "ZeppelinL30" folder in your "aircraft" folder, and you can download that file from the following link: ZeppelinL30 files

  24. Gothas Along the Thames!

It is a moonlit night in July of 1917. London sleeps as flights of Gotha bombers proceed from the east along the Thames with the intention of bombing the very heart of Britain yet again. Your flight of Se5's stationed at Sutton's Farm have been given the order to scramble immediately and intercept the Hun threats before they can unleash their deadly cargo. Camels from nearby Hainault Farm are on the way as well to assist in this most dire mission. Fly south to the river and alt up as fast as you can and don't waste your ammo, there will be no time to land and reload. Watch for the searchlights and the AA as they converge on the Gothas, it will aid you in locating them once they are over the city. This will be an extremely difficult mission, so do your best. The safety of London depends on you and your squad mates. Good luck and God's speed, you will need both.
