Mad_Max Posted Sunday at 06:04 AM Posted Sunday at 06:04 AM I was just wondering that how to manually select targets for mavericks? can't it be done like in DCS world
Flanker562 Posted Sunday at 11:30 AM Posted Sunday at 11:30 AM Look, it's not convoluted like DCS ever will be. Press E for the initial target (If it's a Strike Mission), then shoot your Mavs. For targets of opportunity ensure you have a targeting pod and fire away using the E key. You don't need to do any special procedures for shooting them. 3
daddyairplanes Posted Sunday at 02:08 PM Posted Sunday at 02:08 PM simpler than that, anything targetable can be locked up by a Maverick anything not on the target list (that cant shoot back at you) wont be lockable. so if the target is a fuel tank, you can select the Maverick. but if you want to hit teh hangars nearby you'll need to use bombs or rockets as mentioned, anything that can shoot at you can also be targeted. best practice (in SF2) is to use Mavericks for the AAA and mobile SAMs, use bombs of what ever flavor on buildings and runways and cbu or rockets on vehicles now my question: what does Maverick targeting have to do with terrain avoidance? 3
Wrench Posted Sunday at 06:01 PM Posted Sunday at 06:01 PM Quote now my question: what does Maverick targeting have to do with terrain avoidance? That would have been my question too! TA is something you should always do, either visually or via the autopilot. It's a very bad thing to NOT avoid the terrain. 3
Erik Posted Sunday at 06:13 PM Posted Sunday at 06:13 PM Life is never as exciting as when you meet a granite cloud at altitude. 1
Shaolin Posted Sunday at 08:07 PM Posted Sunday at 08:07 PM 1 hour ago, Erik said: Life is never as exciting as when you meet a granite cloud at altitude. Ah, that's what it is! I always thought I was just bad at dodging missiles... But now it's all starting to make sense
Major Lee Posted Tuesday at 01:29 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:29 PM Terrain isn't all bad; you have to land some time. The important part is the rate of closure... 2
Major Lee Posted Tuesday at 02:55 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:55 PM As I recall, SF1 had an issue drawing mountains over the top of cloud cover. The mountain would appear on terrain mapping radar, but would not be drawn, and thus invisible, above a cloud layer. Made for some interesting flying on my old Himalaya map. I don't know if SF2 resolved that issue or not. TK and I talked about the issue, something about the way that DirectX worked with terrain that is hidden, but I don't recall all the details of that conversation...
