Aren't these the guys who produced the Magazine called CVG or CV&G throughout the nineties who were supposedly "edgy", "hardcore" gamers who were "in tune" with the youth, but in reality, had little connection to anyone other than the "edgy", "hardcore" 8-12 yr old demographic and were therefore axed? I hear it was flagging sales of the magazine and their lack of professionalism in reviews that sounded their deathknell (and their partner magazine just completely crapped on them in terms of sales and credibility)

My grandad and my mum both worked for Hawker Siddeley Aviation, and worked on planes like the Hurricane, the Hunter and the Harrier - I've never seen the Hunter in a game before and would seriously consider buying this purely based on its inclusion...

I noted some time ago that TK's WoE Hawker Hunter, with cockpit, is the most radical and revolutionary concept in combat flight simming since...well, since the original concept of StrikeFighters and IL2 Eastern Front. Interestingly, TK has said that he chose Hunter over BAe Lightning (with cockpit), as he didn't have the resources to do both. I guess the Hunter was a more generic useful aircraft in the limited wars that actually happened, as the Indian Air Force found out for example. But, proper game design that makes use of Lightning as high speed interceptor is possible -- for example, notably missing from WoE is the widely used Yak-28 bomber with its original design role of high altitude high speed tactical strike.

I read that review a couple of weeks ago when my subscription copy of PCZ was delivered. In my opinion, the review was exactly what I would have expected from a magazine whose journalists are more concerned with upgrading their spells than getting a guns kill 15 seconds after the merge. PCZ is just not a 'flight-sim-friendly' magazine. the writers have no passion for air combat, instead they literally masturbate over female elves, as if trying to excuse their own behaviour.

 

I cancelled my subscription the same day.
