+Fates Posted August 10, 2003 Posted August 10, 2003 Here's the skinny: OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM -- A search team discovers a MiG-25 Foxbat buried beneath the sands in Iraq. Several MiG-25 interceptors and Su-25 ground attack jets have been found buried at Al-Taqqadum air field west of Baghdad. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. T. Collins) Quote
snapple2993 Posted August 10, 2003 Posted August 10, 2003 Man, what a waste, that is just sad... Indeed! Maybe thats one of the reasons they cant win... No respect for the equipment... that and the lack of guts to try and use it. So sad Quote
Seawolf Posted August 10, 2003 Posted August 10, 2003 I guess that gives a new meaning to "burry your head in the sand." lol Wonder why we are going through the trouble to dig these things up. Perhaps we keep one or two of them and restore them for training use? who knows. Quote
CowboyTodd41 Posted August 10, 2003 Posted August 10, 2003 I saw a picture of a buried Su-25 in my local paper, kinda sad, so many iraqi flags to paint on F-15's, just sitting underground. Quote
+Fates Posted August 11, 2003 Author Posted August 11, 2003 Lets put X-ray pods on the Warthog...and give them all Bunker-Buster Bombs!!!!! The A-10 could have the priviledge of getting the 1st Air-Underground Kill of a Mig!!!! Quote
BirdDogg Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 Actually, it's not quite as bad as you might think, I used to work Corriosion Control for Marine Corps Aircraft, If they placed the Intake covers and exhuast covers on the birds they could be un-buried and made servicable in a short time (not over night mind you, but a veryshort time). Consider it a "hastey preservation" kinda like our own moth-balled fleet at Davis Moffet. Aircraft Corrosion would be min. It also adds to Mr Bush's arguement of buried WMD! Keep diggin and we all may be very suprised at what else pops outta the sands of time. BirdDogg. 8) Quote
Seawolf Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 THat's true though. If he can hide a huge Mig25 under the sand he can certainly hide a missle full of bio-chemical agents. Who knows whats scattered under the sand over there. Quote
+Armourdave Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 In my opinion it's better that they were burried and recovered than put in the air and destroyed. Cheers Quote
Dutchy Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 How did they find Mig's under the ground? And why are they there? If you are pilot of Iraq you have to train live under sand and dust. Salute Dutchy Quote
savagkc Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 Looks like a lot of plastic sheeting laying around, guess that helped keep some sand out.. onder if the buried all that money they took from the bank???? Anyone have a paper money detector by chance? savagkc Quote
