Leon Kerensky Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 hello, i know this might seem bothersome, but if posible, dose anybody wish to poste how to create new skins for WoV? If so, please give any information about it, i have created a new skin for the WoV FA-37 Talon figter, but cannot seem to get the skin to show, the end result shows a white skin if you have any information please notify me, thankyou Quote
HrntFixr Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 check the name of the .bmp you put in the your skins folder... bounce it against a known good skin. Quote
gumpy Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Helps to use a program like DXTBmp the 16/32 Texture Manipulator. Quote

Leon Kerensky Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 well, to be honest i have done all of the following and then some, but kept the files the same size, and the BMP files where changed to JPEG images (by opening and editing through photoshop) the canvas size has not changed, and the decal code file say (based on my friend's edditing) Position=8.7382,0.010 Rotation=010 Scale=.80 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal010] MeshName=nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=Talon/Wolf 21/D/rescue_R Position=8.7382,0.010 Rotation=350 Scale=.80 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal011] Meshname=Left_Rudder DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=Talon/Wolf 21/D/69th Position=-4.3063,-4.3817 Rotation=90.0 Scale=1.60 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal012] Meshname=Right_Rudder DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=Talon/Wolf 21/D/69thR Position=4.3063,-4.3817 Rotation=90.0 Scale=1.60 DecalMaxLOD=3 Reverse= the textureSet file says [TextureSet] Name=Wolf 21 Nation= Squadron= Specular=0.200000 Glossiness=0.300000 Reflection=0.000000 Quote
Leon Kerensky Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 thankyou, that still dosnt solve the total probolemb with the texture being white, but changing them to bitmap helps Quote
Silverbolt Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 thankyou, that still dosnt solve the total probolemb with the texture being white, but changing them to bitmap helps check if you have saved some parts in ex:1024X768 x 32, because if you put x64bits it will not work idk...just a trought, i hope it help Quote
Leon Kerensky Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 oh yes, BTW, since you guys are helping me to do this, it would only be fair to publish it, but i should probolby ask permision from the guys who made the origonal talon. can you help me find them Quote
Wrench Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Remember, ALL skins are bitmaps, and ALL skin bitmaps are square...512x512, 1024x1024, etc. Names of said bitmaps MUST match the exact names as seen on other skin bmps for the same aircraft, as defined inside the LOD. For example, our ubiquitious Skyhawk... A-4B_Body A-4B_LeftWing A-4B_Nose A-4B_RightWing A-4B_Tail The textureset ini just tells the game how to 'color' it. Meaning, the fading, brightness, reflectivity etc. Also, what folder to look in for the "Wolf21" skin. The decals ini tells the game engine where to position the decals on physical model (LOD), as based on x/y/z coordinates from the center of each defined mesh (nose, tail, vert fin, wing, etc) Wrench kevin stein Quote
+Dave Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Ok here's what i came up with. Wouldn't work for me in Wings over Europe. Don't know why. Works in Wings over Vietnam.Do a fresh install of the Talon. Rename all the bmps to fuse, lwing, rwing, nose and paste into default folder. Start game bypass loadout (as it crashed on me when i did) go straight to fly now. Oh dear god what is that? Quote
Wrench Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I thought that was the same Krensky that led the Clans to the Outer Sphere... Wrench kevin stein Quote
Leon Kerensky Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 PERFECT! just remove the decals of the air force and diamond back and its redy for action! i may need to touch up the wings a little, unless you think it looks good that way. Thankyou verymuch! Quote
Leon Kerensky Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 Heh, Clan Wolf insignia. you better belive it, this sight needs a little battletech, and im even hoping to add the baut fighter, visigoth, kirghiz, and samuri aerospace fighter hopefully some time soon  Quote
Leon Kerensky Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 I thought that was the same Krensky that led the Clans to the Outer Sphere... Wrench kevin stein yep, exept this time its leon rather thean alexander. P.S.: how do you make a file into a winpach file? Quote
Leon Kerensky Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 Check the folder i sent you back i believe i deleted the decals out of it. Otherwise you should be able to paint over it. Wings looked fine to.Haven't flown the Talon until i checked this skin for you. Funky azz take off. Yes, thankyou indeed! Quote
EricJ Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I knew it twigged Clan Wolf but hey whatever... just gotta fix the fuselage insignias so they're not upside down. Then again of all the Clans, well it's no surprising that it was my favorite, with Ghost Bear my second. Maybe some panel lines on the skin? Sure the F/A-37 is a stealth aircraft, but I remember there was a few there.. Quote
Leon Kerensky Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 i did make some panel lines on the skin, but they're kinda hard to see, i messed with it a little more, but im not shure how to turn it into a winPatch file, can you help me with that? Quote
Leon Kerensky Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 Are you referring to an auto installer? Aircraft skins are much to simple to install as you drop in in the aircraft's folder. Now if you have more then 10 skins for example then perhaps it's worth it. oh, so i dont need it, okay! thanks, sorry to waist time, if anybody is interested in it, ill add it! Quote
